Chapter 45 Playing Together like Good Friends

The two little ones still didn't feel very secure staying at home alone, so Sophia made an effort to leave work early every day to be with them. Today was no exception. Sophia finished work on time and went home to cook for her two little darlings.

After dinner, Sophia went into her study and got busy. She had a new product launch in a month's time, and within that month, she had to quickly draw up the designs and make sample clothes. While she was busy in her study, the two children were playing in the living room.

As usual, Emma played games while Ethan continued his research. He logged into Flora's internal forum and came across a gossip story about Mommy. "Huh? Mommy is going to compete with someone? Mommy will definitely win! Huh? Mommy received insider information when she joined? What kind of information is it?" Ethan was annoyed to see someone spreading rumors that Mommy was having an affair with an older rich man. He quickly used his iPad to respond, creating multiple accounts and critize the person who started the rumor, then filing multiple complaints. "Great, I finally flagged their account!" he exclaimed. The rumor post was also deleted.

Curious, Ethan found another post about his mother. This one said Mommy was confused during a meeting and made strange noises, yet she wasn't fired. The post suspected some kind of connection with the boss. It was another post damaging Mommy's reputation, so Ethan lodged another complaint and had it deleted. Only after confirming there were no more negative posts about his mother, did he feel at ease.

Ethan then searched for information about Mommy's company. As he read the search results, his eyes widened in surprise. Mommy actually worked for Lancaster's clothing department! How could Mommy work for such a bad person? Will Mommy get bullied at work? Ethan felt worried and thought that he had to come up with a plan. Suddenly, he had an idea – he could find Sam, the son of that bad person!

The next day, after persuading Emma into helping him, Ethan successfully sneaked out of kindergarten with her covering for him. Considering how Mommy nearly caught him the last time, this time it would only be Ethan going to Elista’s Kindergarten.

During a split second, when the security guard went to the restroom, Ethan confidently walked past, not paying any attention to the surveillance cameras hanging on the security booth. He casually made his way to the break room, where a teacher was playing games by the doorway. Ethan glanced at her sneakily. "She plays so poorly!" he thought.

Taking advantage of the teacher's full concentration on the game, Ethan quickly entered the room. The teacher seemed to have caught something from the corner of her eye, but when she looked up, she saw nothing. The children in the room were still sound asleep, so she continued playing, lowering her head.

Ethan approached Sam's bed and saw that his eyes were closed. A mischievousness sparkled in Ethan's eyes as he quietly reached out to pinch Sam's nose. But Sam quickly opened his eyes, startling Ethan. Upon seeing Ethan, a hint of delight flashed in Sam's eyes.

Speaking softly and hurriedly, Ethan said, "I can't stay very long. I want to ask if you are free this Friday..."

"Let's go out and play," Ethan said.

Sam wrote his question on a piece of paper, "Where are we going to play?" Ethan replied…” We are going to your dad’s company.”

Sam looked puzzled at him and asked, "What's fun about my dad's company?"

"My mommy works at your dad's company, and I want to go and surprise her. You can also surprise your dad then," Ethan explained.

Sam hesitated a bit. Worrying that Sam might not agree, Ethan quickly added, “Are we not good friends? Good friends should play together, Don’t you want to be friends with me anymore?” he asked Sam.

Sam was anxious. Of course, he wanted to.

Although he didn't know why he was willing to get closer to Gilmore, perhaps it was because Gilmore was intelligent and could talk to him about various topics.

Sam agreed, "Alright, after school, I'll have David come pick you up." Shaking his head, Ethan said, “I will come find you.”

Emma still had a dislike against Sam, and he needed to find a way to change her impression of him.

"I have a younger sister, she's adorable and smart. Although she's not as smart as me, she's amazing. She loves playing games. If you could play a few rounds of games with her, I'm sure she'll like you too." Speaking of intelligence, Ethan couldn't help but feel proud of himself.

Sam was confused. A younger sister? Ethan continues speaking: “She is the little girl who was with me the first time we met.”

Having a good memory, Sam immediately recalled her, but it seemed like that little girl wasn't friendly towards him.

"It's because your bodyguard bullied my mommy, so she thought you were a bad guy. She even told me to scare you with bugs, but I didn't listen to her." Ethan said. “She is clingy, so if I go out with you without her, she will be angry. But if she sees you, she will definitely try to hit you, so you have to play games with her for her not to hit you.”

For some reason, Sam found the thought of that little girl getting angry cute. Would such a cute girl hit him? Sam wrote, “What kind of games?”

Ethan mentioned a game and added, "You have to practice hard and not be too bad at it, otherwise, she'll still hit you."

Sam nodded earnestly.

While Emma was sniffling in her bed during nap time, she suddenly sneezed, catching the attention of the teacher.

The teacher approached but couldn't see Gilmore’s head, worried he might be suffocating under the blanket. Just as the teacher was about to pull the blanket, Emma burst into tears, and the teacher hurriedly turned around to comfort her.

"What's wrong, Emma?" The teacher came over to hug her.

Emma sniffled, "Teacher, I had a bad dream, she said sobbing.

To avoid waking the other children, the teacher quickly comforted her gently, saying, "Emma, don't be afraid. Teacher is here with you."

"Teacher, I want to sleep in your arms."

"Okay."

Emma successfully held onto the teacher.

When Ethan returned, Emma pouted unhappily. She also wanted to go out and play.Ethan casually told her some good news, “After school on Friday, I will take you out to play.” The little devil Emma immediately brightened up.

When they returned home after school, Ethan used his mom’s computer to erase the surveillance footage at the kindergarten that showed him.

These days, Sophia has been receiving a lot of strange looks at work. Kathy and Caroline don't talk to her anymore, and everyone, except Charlotte and Larry, thinks Sophia is bound to lose. They've been talking behind Sophia's back, saying mean things about her.

Charlotte doesn't believe that Sophia will win either. She's just an intermediate level employee and she's also being oppressed by Kathy and Caroline, lacking any say in matters. She usually keeps a low profile.

On the other hand, Larry is constantly by Sophia's side, actively supporting her. In the sample room, Sophia laughs and look at Larry, saying, “Even though you are at an intermediate level, so why are you always hanging around a beginner like me?”

With an arrogant expression, Larry replies, "It's my pleasure." Sophia ignores him and starts sewing on the sewing machine, soon she will be finished with her fist piece of clothing.

Putting the clothes on the model, Larry's eyes widen in astonishment and he says “When I saw your design sketch, I thought you’d better thank Caroline, but now that I see the finished pieces of clothes, you are not just better, you are amazing!”

Sophia modestly responds, "That's an exaggeration." She continues to make minor adjustments to the clothes. By the end of the workday, she has almost finished working on the clothes.

Sophia carefully stores away her design sketch, and the clothes stay on the model. Just a minute after they leave, Kathy Caroline walks in and her expression changes drastically when she sees the clothes.
