Chapter 195 A Satisfying Show

"You should go home first," Gabriel's voice was devoid of any emotion, chilling Tiffany to the core.
"Gabriel, I really didn't..."
"I know what's going on. Go home and don't come to the hospital for a while." Gabriel's head was throbbing, his temples pounding. He didn't have the energy to deal with Tiffany's schemes. His grandmother's health was unstable, and after today's incident, she would only be more hostile towards Tiffany.
Tiffany felt wronged to the extreme. She bit her lower lip, her voice choked with suppressed anger and tears, "Alright, I understand."
She then turned around, deliberately letting a tear fall in Gabriel's sight before leaving in a huff.
Gabriel pinched the bridge of his nose. Even though he just saw Tiffany's tears for the first time, he didn't feel pity. Instead, he felt a bit annoyed.
Just as he was about to return to the ward, his phone rang.
"Come back quickly. Grandma is in pain and has been rushed to the emergency room."
Gabriel broke into a run.
Outside the emergency room, Sophia and Harrison were anxiously waiting. Harrison was pacing back and forth while Sophia held a worried Sam.
Gabriel saw Sophia's hands trembling. He walked over and took Sam from Sophia's arms.
The little guy obediently went into his dad's arms, hugging his neck and sobbing, "What's wrong with Great-grandma?"
"Great-grandma is just feeling some pain. She'll be alright soon, don't worry," Gabriel gently reassured him.
He had to hold up the entire family, with both his grandmother and Sam relying on him. So, he couldn't panic; he had to remain calm and rational.
He glanced at Sophia, his mouth opening and closing as he tried to find words of comfort but failed.
In the end, he simply stood by her side, holding Sam, as if offering silent support.
Sophia was too worried about Madam Lancaster to pay any attention to Gabriel.
Half an hour later, Madam Lancaster was wheeled out. She was conscious but looked very weak and lifeless.
Seeing his grandmother in such a state, Gabriel felt a pang of distress.
After she was taken to the ward, Gabriel and Harrison went to talk to the doctor, leaving Sophia and Sam in the room.
Madam Lancaster, who had seemed on the brink of death, suddenly turned her eyes towards Sophia and smiled.
"Don't worry, I was just pretending."
Sophia's expression froze.
"Grandma!" She was both relieved and annoyed.
Madam Lancaster stuck out her tongue, "If I didn't do this, Gabriel would have forgiven that bad woman right away. He's so smart; he must have guessed that I set up Tiffany. Sophia, don't worry, I won't let Tiffany become Sam's stepmother."
Sophia felt both touched and frustrated. She hugged Madam Lancaster and mumbled, "Grandma, don't do this again. We were all so worried."
"Alright, if I pretend to be sick again, I'll let you know in advance."
Sophia was at a loss.
Sam blinked his eyes.
So Great-grandma was pretending just now. Great-grandma taught Aunt Tiffany a lesson. He didn't feel sorry for Aunt Tiffany, but would Daddy feel sorry?
Great-grandma pretended to be sick, and Aunt Kelly was almost crying. He felt sorry for Aunt Kelly.
The little guy held Sophia's hand.
Sophia picked him up.
"Sophia, you have to be careful of Tiffany. Today I taught her a lesson, so she must be unwilling to accept it. She wouldn't dare to confront me, but she might target you."
Sophia nodded in agreement.
"I'll be careful."
Madam Lancaster knew that she couldn't completely get rid of Tiffany this time. At most, she could teach her a lesson. She couldn't tell Gabriel about Tiffany switching the hair samples during the last paternity test. If she did, Gabriel would definitely become suspicious and discover Ethan and Emma.
She had promised Sophia to keep it a secret and help her hide it, so she would naturally keep her word.
Tiffany was indeed planning to take revenge on Sophia. After all, all her troubles started with Sophia.
Before Sophia appeared, everything was going smoothly for her. Even if she wasn't approved by the old lady, she could get rid of Sam over time and then find a way to have Gabriel's child. It would be a matter of course for her to become Mrs. Lancaster.
But after Sophia appeared, nothing went smoothly for her. Even Alfred, her trump card, had to be discarded.
Tiffany viciously tore up a pillow, feathers flying everywhere, like a snowfall in the room. It would have been beautiful if it weren't for Tiffany's twisted face, which made her look more like a hideous demon.
"At the Lancaster Group's annual meeting, Sophia, I will definitely give you a big surprise!"
...
Coming out of the doctor's office, Harrison gently patted Gabriel's shoulder.
"I'll keep an eye on the company. You take good care of Grandma."
Gabriel furrowed his brows and nodded slightly.
"Thank you for your hard work."
"Will you attend the annual meeting?"
"Yes."
The annual meeting was a significant event for the company. As the top leader, Gabriel naturally needed to be present.
"By the way, there have been some dark horses in the industry recently; they’re coming on strong. It's said that they have obtained the latest research results in M country, and their branch in B city will officially open after the New Year."
"Yes, I'm aware. Just keep a close watch on industry trends, nothing else matters."
It was just another competitor. Lancaster's technology was already competitive with the leading companies in M country. Over the years, Lancaster had developed many other businesses, seemingly weakening its main business and diversifying its funds. In fact, it was a cover to quietly conduct further technological research.
Harrison returned to the ward and saw that Madam Lancaster was awake. He chatted with her for a bit. When he left, he discreetly gave her a thumbs-up.
Today's drama was quite satisfying!
The kindergarten was on holiday. It had been raining in B city for the past few days, and the weather had become increasingly cold. Everyone had to bundle up before going out. Ethan, Emma, and Sam stayed at home. Caroline had nothing to do, so she stayed home to play with the three children.
She happily watched Emma's livestream, saw Ethan teaching Sam programming, and inexplicably thought of her own child.
If she were alive, she would surely get along well with these three little ones. Ethan would teach her coding, Sam would teach her drawing, and Emma would teach her to play games. Her childhood would be colorful.
Caroline thought of Josie. After refusing Nicholas's offer to teach Josie the violin, Josie had been listless during class every day. She would avoid Caroline and wouldn’t dare look at her.
Caroline should have been pleased with this, but for some reason, she felt a vague discomfort.
"Godmother."
Emma waved her hand in front of Caroline's eyes.
Caroline snapped back to reality.
"What's wrong?"
"I'm going to practice the violin."
"Alright, go ahead. I'll listen."
Emma looked at her worriedly. Why was godmother so distracted?
What was wrong with Godmother?
