Chapter 590 No Escape

Sophia bawled her eyes out for what felt like forever. Her puffy eyes had this fierce spark as she spat out her words.

"Logan's gonna pay, big time!"

But that wasn't enough. She needed more to nail Logan's sorry butt.

She wanted Logan to get what was coming to him, no way he was slipping through the cracks again.

Next day, Celeste was doing better, finally waking up after getting out of the ICU.

Everyone crowded around Celeste's bed, and Sophia grabbed her hand.

"Grandma, you still hurting?"

Celeste shook her head weakly, her voice all raspy.

"It doesn't hurt, Sophia, don't cry."

But Sophia couldn't stop the waterworks.

Jennifer put a hand on Sophia's shoulder.

"You don't want Grandma feeling worse, right? So, cut the crying."

Sophia wiped her tears away.

"Grandma, I'm just so happy you're okay."

Ruth heard about what went down and brought the three kids to visit.

The kids lined up by the bed, looking all worried at Celeste.

"Great-grandma, you gotta get better soon," Emma said softly.

Celeste smiled and patted each kid's head.

"Don't worry, I will."

Two days later, Celeste kept getting better, and the cops said they were reopening the Kelly Group murder case.

Celeste also found out what really happened to Susan.

Everyone in the Blackwoods was fuming at the Browns.

David rushed back from overseas. He pulled some strings, and with Gabriel's help, they nabbed the supplier who'd been Logan's partner in crime for years.

Meanwhile, Sophia hit up the prison again.

This time, she didn't say a word, just showed Ella some photos and videos.

The video showed Logan beating the crap out of Patricia, yelling at her for not giving him money. Patricia was left a mess, totally defenseless.

Debt collectors were also in the mix, almost dragging Patricia away.

The photos showed Patricia, desperate, in the arms of some old dude.

Ella broke down.

Patricia was her precious daughter, and seeing her like that was too much. Logan had beaten her senseless, and Patricia, a Brown, had to stoop so low!

Ella was shattered.

She clutched her chest, tears and snot everywhere.

"Logan's been arrested. I can make sure he rots in prison for a while, but if he gets out, you think he won't go after Patricia?"

"Imagine the hell a criminal dad would drag Patricia through."

"Think hard. You wanna give Logan a slap on the wrist and let him ruin Patricia's life again? Or lock him up for good so he can't hurt her anymore?"

"If you confess, you might get a lighter sentence."

Sophia stared Ella down.

The whole Brown family had a hand in her parents' deaths, and she wasn't letting any of them off the hook.

Now, she wanted the Browns to turn on each other.

"In a few years, you'll be out, and you can live a good life with Patricia. But if Logan gets out, your lives are gonna be a nightmare."

"The future, good or bad, is in your hands."

Ella bit her lip so hard she tasted blood, but she didn't even flinch.

After what felt like forever, just as Sophia was about to leave, Ella called out.

"Wait."

Sophia sat back down, waiting for her to spill.

Ella clenched her fists, eyes glued to the photos.

"I have a condition," she said.

"What's the condition?"

"Give Patricia some money and send her abroad."

"Deal," Sophia agreed without missing a beat.

Ella let out a deep breath and closed her eyes.

"I have direct evidence of Logan killing Peter."

Sophia gripped the edge of the table, her nails almost snapping.

"Where's the evidence?"

"There's a tree in the Brown Villa yard. Underneath it is a box with the clothes Logan wore that day, covered in Peter's blood."

Ella remembered, 'That day, when Logan came home, I was freaked out by the blood on his clothes. Logan eventually spilled everything. I had no choice; if I didn't help Logan cover it up, the Browns would be done for, and I wouldn't be living the high life, and Patricia would be a criminal's daughter.'

She was supposed to burn the clothes, but she hid them instead.

Maybe she was already planning for the day Logan might turn on her, so she had something to hold over him.

Sophia left the prison and headed straight for the Brown Villa.

On the way, she called David.

David, hearing the news, rushed to the Brown Villa.

Gabriel was with him, so they came together.

The Brown Villa was sealed, and the door was locked.

Gabriel went to get the key.

Sophia stood outside in her thin clothes, looking pale and worn out. Gabriel's heart ached, and he quickly ran over.

"Got the key?" Sophia asked.

"Yeah, got it."

"Hurry, open the door."

Once inside, Sophia made a beeline for the tree. With no tools, she started digging with her bare hands, desperate.

David stopped her, and Gabriel found a stick and started digging around the tree.

Soon, they uncovered a box.

Twenty minutes later, they pulled out the box. Inside, just like Ella said, was a gray shirt with black stains, probably Peter's blood.

A DNA test would confirm it.

Logan was done for.

Back home, Daniel heard that some bad guys had almost attacked Diana.

"Did they catch those creeps?" Daniel asked, frowning.

Linda replied angrily, "They caught two, but since it was an attempted rape, they can only hold them for a bit."

Daniel nodded, sitting on the couch, looking beat. That teacher's words echoed in his mind.

"Maybe it was burned to ashes," Daniel muttered.

Linda, noticing Daniel's indifferent attitude and lack of concern for Diana, felt pissed.

"Diana went through hell, and as her dad, you don't even have a word of comfort?"

Daniel opened his eyes.

"Where is she?"

"In her room, resting. She's been a mess lately."

"Cheer her up," Daniel said, pulling out a bank card. "Take her shopping and out to eat. She'll get over it eventually."
