Chapter 540 Refusing to Admit

"What’s so funny?" Celeste asked Sophia, her voice way softer than usual.

Sophia chuckled, "Just thinking, since Patricia and I grew up together, I didn’t wanna make things too awkward."

Celeste’s eyebrows twitched, but she kept quiet.

Ruth watched with a big grin.

Patricia looked like she wanted to rip Sophia apart.

Sophia smirked, "Patricia, I gave you a chance, but you blew it. Don’t blame me for spilling the tea."

"What do you want?" Patricia’s eyes were red and bloodshot.

Sophia pulled out a thick stack of papers.

"Celeste, check this out."

Celeste opened it up, and the first thing she saw was Patricia’s original face, which kinda looked like Ella and Logan.

The docs detailed Patricia’s whole plastic surgery journey, with tons of pics from the surgeries, showing her old face and the new one.

Patricia glanced at it and collapsed into a chair, her mind spinning.

She had pretty much changed her whole face, not just a nose job and double eyelids.

Her lies were out in the open again.

Celeste angrily threw the stack of papers at Patricia.

"Patricia! What do you have to say for yourself?"

The plastic surgery records were enough to prove Patricia wasn’t her granddaughter.

And today’s paternity test was also rigged by the Browns.

"I... I didn’t, this is fake, Grandma, Sophia made this up."

Patricia would never admit it, no way.

Otherwise, it was game over.

The papers hit her shoulder, the slight pain snapping her back to reality. She picked them up and opened them.

"Look, the stamp’s blurry, and this plastic surgeon looks shady."

The three of them sat on the couch, quietly watching Patricia’s desperate attempts.

Celeste felt more and more disheartened.

‘I must be getting old, to have so easily believed Patricia was my granddaughter!’ Celeste thought.

She had given Patricia the best of everything, only to find out she was a fraud!

The doorbell rang, and Patricia’s eyes lit up instantly.

Her backup had arrived!

She quickly got up and ran to open the door.

Ella and Logan saw Patricia’s tear-streaked face, and Ella felt a pang of sympathy.

"Mom and Dad, Sophia and the others have my old plastic surgery records and contracts, and Celeste believes them."

"What!" Ella’s eyes widened in anger.

Ruth raised her voice, "What’s the matter, backup arrived? Ella and Logan, too guilty to come in?"

Ella quickly thought of a plan.

She ignored Ruth and whispered to Logan, "Go find a plastic surgeon fast. We need to prove Patricia hasn’t had plastic surgery."

Patricia added, "Not a full-face surgery."

"Hurry."

Logan nodded and headed back to the elevator.

Ella walked Patricia inside.

She wore a fake smile.

"Mrs. Celeste Blackwood, what’s going on?" Ella pretended to be clueless, trying to buy some time.

Ruth snapped, "Don’t play dumb. Patricia’s impersonation was your idea, wasn’t it?"

"What are you talking about? I don’t understand."

"Celeste, call the cops."

Ella panicked. "Ruth, you can't call the police without solid evidence. And Celeste, how can you trust outsiders so easily?"

Ruth was fuming at Ella's nerve. She couldn't believe how brazen Ella was.

She was about to speak but Sophia stopped her.

Sophia smiled at Ella. "Ella, why don't you take a look at these documents."

Ella pretended to flip through them, then calmly put them down.

"A fake contract and plastic surgery record, what's there to see."

Ella sighed, "Since you think Patricia had plastic surgery, fine, I'll have Logan bring a reputable plastic surgeon to check Patricia and see if she had any work done."

"I think you're just bringing a doctor to help you put on a show." Ruth saw that Ella and Patricia still wouldn't admit it, so she had James bring out another paternity test report.

"You say the contract is fake, the records are fake, but this paternity test from FutureTech University can't be fake, right?"

Ruth handed it to Celeste.

When she got Patricia's blood sample, Ruth had sent one to the central hospital's testing facility and another to FutureTech University's testing facility.

"Also, just now, the central hospital's testing facility was investigated for falsifying results."

This paternity test showed that Patricia had zero blood relation to Celeste.

Ella's legs went weak.

She bit her lip hard and said, "The central hospital's testing facility falsified results, but couldn't FutureTech University's testing facility do the same? The Lancasters have a lot of power; changing a paternity test would be easy for you."

"Enough!" Celeste roared.

She was so angry that her whole body was trembling. If it weren't for Sophia giving her strength, she might have fainted from rage.

She tightly gripped Sophia's hand, straightened her back, and with a commanding presence, glared at Ella and Patricia like daggers.

"FutureTech University's testing facility is the most authoritative institution recognized by the judiciary, and there's no falsification. Since you refuse to admit it, fine, we'll see you in court!"

"I'll get to the bottom of this!"

Ella and Patricia were shaken to their core. Patricia wanted to kneel and beg Celeste again.

But Ella pulled her back, shielding her.

"Fine, you say Patricia isn't part of the Blackwoods, then who is? Sophia? Don't make me laugh; Sophia could never be part of the Blackwoods."

"Why couldn't she be a member of the Blackwood family?"

A dignified voice rang out.

Unbeknownst to everyone, David and Colin were standing at the door.

As soon as they opened the door, they heard Celeste's declaration about going to court, followed by Ella's distortion of the truth.

Everyone looked over, and when Ella saw Logan hanging his head, her heart sank.

David strode in, exuding an intimidating aura, his gaze sharper than a blade.

Colin, seeing Logan frozen, smirked, "Please, come in."

Logan had run into David and Colin in the parking lot. He had intended to find an excuse to leave but was coerced by David and Colin to come up.

David first checked on Celeste with concern.
