Chapter 627 Take Away
Diana was crying, but she tried to keep it together.
"Mia threatened me, and I did a lot of things that hurt you. I don't expect you to forgive me, but please, don't take it out on my adoptive parents."
"Caroline, you saved my life. You must regret donating your bone marrow to me," Diana said with a bitter smile. "If I were you, I'd regret it too."
Diana took a couple of steps back and bowed to Caroline.
"I'm sorry."
Without waiting for Caroline and Daniel to respond, she turned to leave.
Just then, Linda opened her eyes.
"Wait."
"Mom." Diana looked at Linda in surprise, a tear still rolling down her face.
She quickly wiped it away.
Linda's eyes were full of disappointment.
She had heard everything Diana said.
She blamed herself for believing Diana and Mia, which led to misunderstandings about Caroline, but she was more disappointed in Diana.
"Don't call me Mom anymore. After all, I'm not your biological mother."
Linda's cold words pierced Diana's heart. She tried to explain but the words just wouldn't come out.
Linda said, "Even though we mistook you, we also cured your illness. Caroline even donated her bone marrow to you. Diana, if you have any conscience left, live your life well. Don't show up in front of us again."
Diana felt like she'd been struck by lightning.
Even though she had anticipated this outcome, it was still hard to accept when it actually happened.
"Mom."
"I told you, don't call me Mom anymore," Linda said, her voice even colder this time.
Diana bit her lip, her face pale, and said with a sob, "Mrs. Wolf, I'm sorry, I..."
She had a million things to say, but she couldn't figure out where to start.
After a long time, Diana still couldn't say anything.
"Miss Scott, my wife needs to rest. Please leave," Daniel said coldly.
Diana wiped away her tears.
"Mr. Wolf, Mrs. Wolf, please take care!"
She turned and ran out.
Without Diana, Linda held Caroline's hand, her eyes quickly reddening, and tears began to fall.
"Caroline, my Caroline, I'm sorry. I was so foolish to be used by them to hurt you," Linda cried as if her heart was breaking.
Daniel was all choked up too. His eyes were watery, and he looked like he was about to cry.
Caroline didn't know how to comfort Linda, so she just let her hold her.
Mia was also taken to the hospital. Her face was bandaged, but scars would definitely remain.
She sat dazed on the hospital bed.
Michael and Samuel came in.
When Mia saw Michael, her eyes immediately filled with resentment.
"Michael, you despicable bastard, marrying you was the biggest mistake of my life."
Michael scolded coldly, "You still have the nerve to curse me? The crimes you committed are now settled. Just wait for the police to arrest you."
Mia laughed coldly, "Do you think you're off the hook just because you confessed to Daniel? If the police arrest me, I'll be the first to implicate you."
"How dare you!" Michael stepped forward, ready to slap this vicious woman again, but Samuel stopped him.
Samuel frowned. He was tall and thin, always exuding a cultured aura, and didn't look much like Michael and Mia.
But if you looked closely, Samuel did have some resemblance to Michael.
"Dad, Mom, I can't believe you did such things. Caroline means so much to Uncle Daniel and Aunt Linda, yet you hurt her over and over."
"I can't protect you this time. You'll have to face the consequences."
Daniel had a big influence on Samuel. He was kind of like Daniel now, not like Mia or Michael at all.
He was also deeply hurt, but he knew that what his parents did was beyond forgiveness.
"What do you mean? Are you going to abandon your parents for justice?" Michael, furious, pointed at Samuel's nose, ready to lecture him.
Samuel said with a stern face, "I'm just standing on the side of what's right. I can't do anything about it."
"You!" Michael snorted coldly, "Anyway, this was all your mother's doing, not mine."
Mia laughed coldly.
"Mom!" Daisy ran in anxiously. Seeing Mia's face, she asked, "What happened to your face?"
Mia gritted her teeth in hatred. "That bitch Linda scratched my face!"
"Aunt Linda, why?"
Daisy had a bad feeling.
Mia gave her the answer in the next moment.
She was shocked.
"What do we do now?"
"Daisy, remember," Mia grabbed Daisy and instructed, "You don't know anything about this, understand?" She spoke softly, not letting Samuel hear.
"Live well with Samuel. You might have to rely on him in the future."
"No, Mom, I don't want to." Daisy hugged Mia and cried.
At that moment, the police knocked and came in. After confirming Mia was physically fine, they took her away.
Daisy cried miserably, trying to stop them. People from the surrounding wards came out.
They didn't know the truth and thought Mia was being wronged.
Daniel and Caroline stood at the door, watching Mia being taken away by the police.
Daisy collapsed to the ground.
She felt doomed.
With Mia's crimes exposed to Daniel, he would never let Mia off. She might also be implicated and despised by Daniel and Linda.
Daisy thought, 'What should I do? If I lose Daniel's protection in the Wolfs, how could I continue in high society? Everyone would surely mock me. More importantly, the Watsons would definitely kick me out!'
If Aragorn knew Caroline was Daniel's daughter, Daisy didn't dare to think further.
Samuel came over to help her up.
Daisy saw Caroline out of the corner of her eye. She immediately stood up and then rushed to Caroline.
She was about to curse when she noticed Daniel's gaze.
She turned and cried to Daniel.
"Uncle, my mom didn't mean to do it."
No matter what Daisy said, Daniel remained expressionless.
Despite Samuel's attempts to pull her away, Daisy continued to plead for Mia.
"Uncle, if my mom goes to jail, I'll have a criminal mother. I'll be mocked by everyone. Uncle, you love me so much; can you bear to see me ridiculed?"
Daniel said, "I can't bear to see my biological daughter suffer more."
Daisy was speechless.
"Uncle, I'm sorry. I'll have a good talk with Daisy," Samuel said, pulling Daisy away forcefully.
