Chapter 720 Surgery

Gabriel went to Country M. Jake originally planned to take action against Gabriel, and this time he intended to make sure Gabriel wouldn't return.

However, something came up on Owen's end.

The plan had to be postponed for a few days.

Fortunately, Gabriel wouldn't be returning to the country anytime soon.

Owen planned to take action in the next couple of days.

But Sophia went there, so Jake had to tell Owen to hold off a bit longer to avoid involving Sophia.

As a result, he and Sophia was going on a trip!

In an instant, Jake's affection felt like it was being trampled underfoot.

He stared grimly at the screen on his computer.

Once out of Country M, it would be difficult for Owen to take action again.

But it didn't matter; Gabriel's assistant was still in Country M, the Lancaster Group's branch was still there, and the Lancaster Group had a lot of business in Country M.

Gabriel would definitely come back.

Jake closed the page.

At that moment, Owen called, "If we had acted sooner, Gabriel wouldn't have escaped. Why didn't you let me act yesterday?" Owen was puzzled.

As long as this time was successful, the Lancaster Group would be like a scattered sand without Gabriel, and it would definitely be finished.

By then, Micro Circuit Group would swoop in like a savior and acquire the Lancaster Group.

Jake said, "I have my reasons."

"Is it because of that woman?"

Jake didn't respond.

Owen continued, "This isn't like the Jake I know. The Jake I know wouldn't let emotions get in the way."

"She's different."

"How is she different?"

Jake didn't want to say much about his inner feelings. "She's just different. You can't harm her, understand?"

Owen rolled his eyes and said, "Got it, but what if she messes up your plans?"

"I'll handle it."

"Jake, I can promise not to harm her, but your father might..."

Jake's heart tightened. "I'll return to Country M tomorrow."

"OK."

After a series of checks, on the third day, Gabriel was sent into the operating room, and outside the operating room, only Sophia was waiting.

To avoid any suspicion, she and Gabriel had almost cut off all contact with the outside world.

Both Sophia and Gabriel's phones and public social media accounts showed their location as Municity.

The only communication was through Blake, who relayed some information to Caroline.

Caroline then passed it on to Ruth and the Blackwood family.

Originally, David wanted to go to Country M to help, but fearing he would alert the enemy, he had to abandon the idea.

Colin said, "I'll go. My teacher is back, and I need to see him."

After a family discussion, it was decided that Colin was the most suitable one to go.

The whole family stayed in the living room, waiting for news from Caroline.

The surgery was still ongoing.

Ethan, Emma, and Sam, the three children, were also quiet, not saying a word.

Finally, three hours later, Caroline called.

"The surgery was successful." This sentence instantly dispelled the heavy atmosphere like a puff of smoke.

"Caroline, where's my mommy?" Emma sniffled.

"Emma, be good. Your mommy is with your daddy. They're both fine. Once your daddy recovers a bit, they can come home."

Ethan asked, "What illness does my daddy have?"

They only found out today that Gabriel was sick, and Sophia had gone to accompany Gabriel for the surgery.

"It's not a serious illness. Now that the surgery is done, he'll be fine."

Ethan didn't believe it wasn't serious, but he knew he wouldn't get any more answers by asking further.

Celeste and Ruth hugged the three children.

"It's okay now. Your daddy has made it through."

They really missed their daddy and mommy.

Emma's eyes were still red, and she occasionally couldn't help but shed a tear.

Usually, she was the most lively child, but now she was the quietest one.

Meanwhile, Gabriel was taken to the only room in the research lab.

Sophia stayed by his side, waiting for him to wake up.

The room was very quiet. Sophia looked at his pale face and gently touched it with her hand.

Her fingertips touched his forehead, then moved down to his nose, the tip of his nose, and his lips. His lips parted, and unexpectedly, he bit Sophia's index finger.

Sophia was startled and momentarily forgot to pull her finger back.

Sophia asked, "You're awake?"

Gabriel opened his eyes, a hint of a smile in them.

The anesthesia hadn't completely worn off, and his head was still a bit dizzy, but it didn't stop him from gently biting her finger.

Feeling the moist touch, Sophia finally reacted, quickly pulling her hand back, her ears turning red.

"You... you..." Gabriel had just woken up and bit her finger, and...

She couldn't form a complete sentence for a while.

Seeing her blushing face, Gabriel's lips curved up. In fact, he had woken up when she touched his forehead.

"I'm a bit thirsty." Gabriel smiled ambiguously.

Sophia turned to pour him some water.

Gabriel tried to sit up but pulled at his surgical wound, causing him to gasp in pain.

"Don't move," Sophia said nervously, then helped him raise the bed.

Gabriel only drank a couple of sips of water. He had just had surgery and couldn't drink too much water or eat any food yet.

"You should sleep a bit more."

Gabriel wanted to tease her a bit more, but his head was really dizzy, so he had to lie down and sleep.

On the second day after the surgery, Gabriel could eat some liquid food and drink more water.

Sophia took care of him meticulously by his bedside.

On the third day after the surgery, Gabriel's spirits were fully restored, but he still couldn't move around too much as it would affect his wound.

At night, Sophia was about to go to the next room to rest when Gabriel grabbed her.

"Can you stay with me tonight?"

There was only one bed in the room, and the room was small, so it couldn't fit two beds. Therefore, Sophia stayed in the next room.

Gabriel slowly moved over, making room on the single bed, and patted the bed, "I can't sleep well without you by my side. I even had a nightmare last night."

Sophia wondered, 'Was Gabriel still a baby?'

Alright, the patient's emotions were the most important.

Sophia stayed.

After she lay down, the already small bed became even smaller.

To let Gabriel lie flat, she had to lie on her side.

Facing Gabriel, Gabriel reached out and hugged her. He turned his head and, in the darkness, could vaguely see her delicate face. He leaned in and kissed her forehead.

Gabriel said, "Thank you."

Sophia looked at him too. They were very close, body to body. If she moved slightly, their noses would touch.

Sophia and Gabriel's breaths intertwined, warm, as if with a hint of love's catalyst.

Slowly, their lips met.

After a while, heavy breathing filled the room.

Sophia said, "You still have a wound, don't move."

"I know."

"Then stop!"

Big movements were out of the question, but Gabriel thought he could still manage small ones.
