Chapter 103: Come, Let's Get Closer
Mrs. Lancaster suddenly stopped and a glint appeared in her eyes. After pondering for a moment or two, she said, "This is a good idea. I feel quite close to them, just like my own grandsons and granddaughters."
Then, she started to worry, "But will their parents agree?"
"They will definitely agree," Aunt said. She wasn't concerned about whether they would agree or not, but rather if they were greedy individuals. Accepting a godson might cause trouble in the future. After all, with the Lancaster family being such a powerful prestigious household, no one would be unwilling to associate with them.
...
The factory in city D was newly established this year. Originally, Harrison was supposed to come on this business trip, but he had some urgent matters to attend to, so Gabriel couldn't trust anyone else and had to come himself.
The factory manager nodded and accompanied Gabriel as they toured the production workshop. The machines thundered loudly, and the workers were all spirited.
Gabriel nodded in satisfaction, then suddenly stopped in his tracks. The factory manager couldn't keep up with his pace and walked a few steps ahead before realizing that the boss had stopped. Quickly, he rushed back.
Noticing Gabriel's expression, the factory manager followed his gaze.
There, they saw a beautiful woman wearing casual attire sitting in front of a sewing machine. She rolled up her sleeves, revealing a section of her delicate and fair forearm.
She operated the sewing machine while explaining to the workers.
It's said that men who work earnestly are handsome, and the same goes for women who work diligently.
The last time Gabriel saw her shining while working was during a meeting, where she confidently explained her design concept.
This woman seemed to possess endless energy, radiating brilliance in her career.
"Mr. Lancaster, that should be Miss Kelly who was recently sent by headquarters to guide the work," the factory manager said. Why was Mr. Lancaster staring at her like this? Could it be that he's attracted to her?
Logically speaking, since they are both from the headquarters, Mr. Lancaster should have seen Miss Kelly before. Why does he have this as if obsessed expression? And a bit of joy?
The factory manager couldn't understand.
"Hmm." After a long while, Gabriel retracted his gaze and softly muttered "Hmm," then he lifted his long leg and continued walking.
Sophia was fully immersed in her work, earnestly and attentively guiding the workers. Although the workers knew how to operate the sewing machine, they lacked her level of professionalism in certain details. After some guidance, the workers quickly caught on.
She didn't notice that Gabriel was also in this workshop.
A busy morning passed by quickly. At noon, Sophia went to the cafeteria with the production manager for lunch, and coincidentally bumped into the factory manager and Gabriel.
"Since we are going to the cafeteria too, let's go together," the factory manager said with a kindly, fat face that formed crescent-shaped eyes when he smiled.
Sophia didn't dare to eat with Gabriel; she was afraid she wouldn't be able to eat at all.
"Thank you, Mr. Manager. I'll
"We'll eat on our own." The factory manager didn't expect her to refuse so directly. He was momentarily stunned and then looked towards Gabriel, noticing that the boss's expression was grim. The manager immediately thought that he needed to involve them to share the scolding, in case the boss would lose his temper.
"Come on, Miss Kelly, don't be shy." Under the factory manager's enthusiastic invitation, Sophia couldn't refuse and was even directly taken to the VIP room in the cafeteria for guests.
Sophia felt frustrated. She had been trying her best to avoid Gabriel, so why did they have to sit together and have a meal?
"Come, help yourselves to more food," the factory manager warmly invited them.
The cafeteria food was quite good. Since they were already here, Sophia didn't want to deprive herself of enjoying a meal and chose to pretend Gabriel didn't exist.
Sophia focused on her own meal, occasionally responding with an "Mm" or "Oh" when the factory manager said something.
Gabriel's expression still didn't look good. When the factory manager came to toast, he gave him a cold stare. The factory manager silently put down the wine and didn't dare to offer it again.
The expensive wine he brought became a decoration on the dining table.
"I'm done eating. Take your time," Sophia quickly finished her bowl of rice and stood up to leave.
"Hey, Miss Kelly, don't rush. We've got to know each other, so let's take a couple of photos," the factory manager suggested. He understood that he had to take a photo with Mr. Lancaster. If he asked Mr. Lancaster separately, he would surely refuse. But if he included Miss Kelly and the production manager, Mr. Lancaster wouldn't be able to turn him down.
Later, he could hang the photos in his office to show off.
Sophia wanted to refuse.
"Please give me face, Miss Kelly," the factory manager pleaded.
She frowned. Since he put it that way, it wouldn't be good if she didn't give him face. It's not worth it to worsen her relationship with a local factory manager.
After all, her clothes would still be produced here. If she offended the factory manager, it would be too much trouble for her.
"No problem, let's take the photo." After all, Gabriel didn't like taking pictures. He would definitely refuse.
But unexpectedly, Gabriel went against his usual behavior and actually agreed to take the photo.
Sophia's heart…suddenly raced with a thousand horses.
"Come closer." The factory manager held up his phone.
Sophia deliberately chose to stand next to the production manager.
The factory manager searched for an angle and realized that the positioning was off, and he couldn't fit everyone into the frame. So, he directly pulled the production manager to the front.
Sophia:…
Why is it that the more she tries to avoid something, the more it happens?
She seriously suspected that the factory manager did it on purpose.
Sophia stood beside Gabriel, behind the factory manager.
"Smile." Sophia forced a smile that was uglier than crying, while Gabriel remained expressionless as always.
The factory manager couldn't care less about all this. He snapped the photo in an instant.
I got several photos.
"Alright."
Upon hearing this, Sophia immediately retreated to the side, relieved, and distanced herself from Gabriel.
Gabriel's face darkened slightly.
This woman, during the photo shoot, she couldn't wait to stay away, but now she's so disgusted, as if she encountered a virus.
He was displeased, very displeased!
In fact, this displeasure made him want to get closer to Sophia even more.
She finds him repulsive, huh?
Then he'll get closer and disgust her even more!
"I didn't get enough rest last night, Director. I'll go rest for a while." Sophia prepared to make a quick escape.
"Wait, I'll go with you." Gabriel also stood up, ready to leave.
"Huh? I'm going to the workshop to rest. It's dirty and messy there, not suitable for Mr. Lancaster's status. Let's forget it." Sophia quickly finished speaking, not giving Gabriel a chance to follow her, and hastily left the room. "Goodbye, Director."
"Oh, goodbye."
Gabriel's eyebrows fiercely furrowed, his aura becoming increasingly cold and fierce. The Director couldn't help but shrink back and quietly hid his phone.
He was genuinely afraid that if Mr. Lancaster became unhappy, he would smash his phone.
After escaping, Sophia took a deep breath.
This meal really put her in a bad mood, not at all beautiful.
She found a place in the workshop to lean on the workbench and checked her STATUS. Suddenly, she saw a STATUS posted by Fiona, and a thought came to her mind.
She immediately sent a Whatsapp message to the Director.
