Chapter 209 She Looked Disbelieving

Sophia refused to accept any part of Madam Lancaster's wealth, causing Madam Lancaster to sternly insist, and her face to harden.
"If you won't take it, then I'll give it all to the three children. You're their mother, so you can manage it on their behalf."
Giving it to the children was essentially the same as giving it to Sophia. Until they turned eighteen, it all technically belonged to Sophia.
Madam Lancaster saw Sophia's silence and thought she was going to refuse again; she grew even more stern, "If you don't accept, I'll tell Gabriel everything."
"Grandma," Sophia sighed helplessly, "since it's for the children, I'll accept it."
Madam Lancaster produced a pen.
"Come, sign here."
Sophia signed heavily. The topic of someone’s will was always a heavy one. It felt as if a huge rock was pressing down on her heart, making her feel very uncomfortable.
Madam Lancaster, grinning, patted her on the head.
Sophia's eyes were sore. Just then her phone rang.
She glanced at it and, not wanting to continue crying in front of Madam Lancaster, used the call as an excuse to step out.
She stood at the end of the corridor, looking up to compose herself before answering the call.
Charlotte picked up quickly, her worried voice quickly coming through.
"Sophia, how did you get home last night?"
Sophia's face was expressionless, and her tone, as usual, showed no signs of anything unusual.
"A friend picked me up."
"I'm sorry, Sophia. I suddenly had a stomachache and had a waiter escort you to the lobby to wait for me. But when I got there after sorting myself out, I couldn't find you. I tried calling you, but you didn't pick up."
"Oh, it's okay. I might have been too drunk to notice my phone."
"I'm glad you made it home safely."
"Thank you."
After hanging up, a sharp light flashed in Sophia's eyes.
What a coincidence that Charlotte had a sudden stomachache while escorting her...
Why Charlotte?
After noticing that Gabriel was coming out of the elevator from afar, Sophia walked over.
"What did the doctor say?" Despite her reluctance to speak to Gabriel, she wanted to know about Grandma's condition.
Gabriel didn't hide anything; his charming voice was as cool and indifferent as always.
"The doctor said the surgery could be done the day after tomorrow at the earliest."
The day after tomorrow... a surgery with only a 30% success rate, almost no hope at all. Sophia bit her lip lightly.
"Isn't there another treatment plan? Like going abroad?"
Gabriel patiently explained to her, "Grandma's current physical condition is not suitable for overseas treatment. Besides, her primary doctor is a top expert in this field. He has performed more complex surgeries before."
Sophia knew how competent this doctor was. She had specifically consulted Vincent about him a few days ago, and Vincent had given her a briefing.
Gabriel continued, "The primary doctor said that Grandma's recent mental state has been good, and her condition has stabilized. This is a great advantage for the surgery. He is 50% confident."
Fifty-fifty was much better than no hope at all.
"Recently, Sam's two friends have been visiting Grandma in the hospital frequently. The three children are the biggest contributors to her improved mental state. I want to invite their parents for a meal after Grandma's surgery. You should come too."
Sophia was, after all, Sam's mom. It would be nice to meet Sam's friends.
Sophia was stunned. Was he talking about Ethan and Emma?
"We'll see."
Sophia's expression was indifferent, as if she had no interest in meeting her son's friends. This irritated Gabriel.
She always claimed to love children, but she didn't even want to meet her son's friends?
"By the way, take a look at this." Gabriel took out his phone and pulled up a photo. "Do you know him?"
Sophia looked at the man in the photo, vaguely recalling him. He was the waiter from the party last night!
"I don't know him."
"He was hovering around you and Harrison all night. He is the one who took you to my room, or to be precise, to Harrison's room. Harrison and I had to switch rooms due to an urgent matter, and by some twist of fate, I ended up in that room."
So that was what led to the subsequent events.
Sophia listened to his explanation as her face gradually turned pale, even her legs felt weak. A surge of rage quickly rose in her heart.
The person behind all this had plotted against her and Harrison!
"Did you find out who it was?"
Gabriel shook his head and assured her, "Don't worry, as one of my employees, I will find out who did this. Besides, this matter involves Harrison as well."
No matter what, this issue had to be thoroughly investigated. He told Sophia everything without reservation, wanting to see if she knew anything.
From the looks of it, Sophia obviously didn't know anything.
Did this woman offend someone unknowingly?
He wanted to ask more, but when he met her fiery gaze, Sophia gave him a cold, mocking smile.
"I hope you can truly find out who it is, and not just put on a show to cover up for someone."
"What do you mean?" Gabriel frowned; her sarcastic tone was very unpleasant.
"You're so smart; you should understand what I mean."
Gabriel's eyelid twitched.
"I won't cover up for anyone!"
Sophia, disbelieving, turned around and walked back into the ward.
Would he cover it up if Tiffany was the one behind this scheme?
Tiffany was his dream girl; the one he loved the most; the woman he wanted to remarry despite all efforts to divorce.
How could Gabriel, who was so protective, not cover up for Tiffany?
...
The news of Gabriel bringing his girlfriend to the annual party spread, and for a while, everyone mistakenly thought that their wedding was imminent and that this was an internal announcement of Tiffany's status.
The news that business tycoon, Gabriel, was about to marry his girlfriend was buzzing on the internet, with various news articles flying everywhere.
It was close to the New Year, so everyone was on holiday. Everyone had plenty of free time to gossip.
Netizens had already dug up the identity of the tycoon's girlfriend. Tiffany had dealt with some not-so-good information, leaving only the good and excellent aspects of her identity.
Now that the marriage news was out, netizens dug up her identity and background again, but this time someone was leading the rhythm. They only spoke of her excellent background.
A psychologist who returned from studying abroad; she was indeed a good match for the tycoon.
They made a handsome couple.
Since there were too few photos of the two together, netizens cut out Gabriel's photos from interviews, found Tiffany's photos from her Instagram, and made a few sweet photos to spread.
Ethan saw this news, and his little face turned red with anger.
"The bad guy daddy is going to marry the bad woman. Sam is going to have a stepmother."
Emma, upon hearing this, dropped her iPad, stopped playing her game, and came over.
After seeing the combined photos of the bad woman and the bad guy daddy, she clenched her little fist in anger.
"What about Sam? The bad woman will bully Sam to death."
"We have two options now."
"Tell me quickly."
Ethan calmed down and analyzed, "The first is for Mommy to fight for Sam's custody, so that Sam can live with us in the future; the second is for us to stop the bad guy daddy from marrying the bad woman, so she can't become Sam's stepmother."
"We should definitely go with the first option!" Emma really wanted Sam to come and live with them.
