Chapter 311 Impossible
Jake Hughes exclaimed happily, "Kelly, you're finally awake. Is there anything uncomfortable? Let the doctor check you quickly."
Sophia was confused, and asked, "What's happening to me?"
Now Sophia felt her mouth was dry, her voice hoarse, and even her body a bit weak.
Scenes before she lost consciousness slowly emerged in her mind.
Sophia's face was very pale, her eyes looked hurt.
"Mama," Ethan called softly.
Emma held her hand and gently shook it, pitifully saying, "Mama, Emma was wrong. Emma just wants to be with Mama."
Sam also called out, "Mama."
The voices of the three children brought Sophia back to reality. Seeing the children, Sophia's tears fell instantly, and she hugged each of them one by one.
The children called out to her, "Mama."
"Am I still dreaming?" Sophia pinched herself hard.
Ouch!
Not a dream.
Caroline silently wiped away tears, tears of joy.
Colin was also a bit shocked. Sophia's love for the children, the children's admiration for their mother, everything touched him. At that moment, he suddenly missed Jennifer Johnson.
Gabriel, pushed away by Jake Hughes, felt a bit complicated. He wanted to hug Sophia in joy, but he knew he was the person Sophia disliked the most, which made him feel uncomfortable.
After a while, Caroline persuaded Sophia to let go of the children and let the doctor examine her.
The doctor said, "Today you can only have liquid food. Tomorrow you can eat normally. After observing for two more days, if there are no other symptoms, you can be discharged."
Sophia said, "Thank you, doctor."
Caroline saw off the doctor, then came back and hugged Sophia, patting her back gently.
Caroline chided, "You have no idea how worried I was."
Sophia looked guilty, and apologized, "I'm sorry."
Caroline scolded, "Have you ever thought about what would happen to the children if you died?"
Sophia fell silent. At that time, she was completely out of control, desperate, and on the verge of collapse. She just wanted to sleep, to sleep well, to sleep longer, and not to wake up, because waking up would be painful and agonizing.
Caroline was both angry and heartbroken, poking Sophia's forehead.
Caroline warned, "From now on, I'll be watching you all day."
Sophia chuckled, "I'm fine now."
Caroline remarked, "I don't care."
Sophia asked, "What about your headmistress?"
Caroline replied, "I'll take you with me to take care of my adoptive mother, the headmistress."
Ethan interjected, "I'll also stay with Mama all day."
Emma said, "Me too."
Sam raised his hand, indicating he wanted to stay too.
Jake Hughes added, "Count me in."
Vincent finished his surgery, heard that Sophia had woken up, took off his surgical gown, and hurried over.
Seeing Sophia alive and well, Vincent finally felt less worried.
He felt very guilty.
The medicine Sophia took was given by him.
If he had paid a little more attention at that time, this incident could have been avoided.
Everyone gathered around Sophia's hospital bed, looking at so many friends who cared for her, as well as the three children, Sophia felt warm in her heart.
After all, Sophia had just woken up and needed proper rest. Vincent didn't stay long and went back to work.
"Let's all go out, let Sophia talk to the children," Colin suggested.
So, Jake Hughes and Caroline both left, Gabriel glanced at Sophia, said nothing, and also left.
Colin said, "Sophia, we'll be outside. If you need anything, just call us."
Sophia felt a bit sorry, not expecting Mr. Colin to encounter such a situation as soon as he arrived.
Colin walked out and closed the door for Sophia.
"Ethan, can you promise not to take so much medicine in the future?" Ethan choked up.
Ethan held one of Mama's fingers, afraid that Mama would fall into a coma again.
"Okay, Mama won't take it anymore," Sophia lovingly touched Ethan's head.
"If Mama takes it again, she's a big fool," Emma pouted.
Sophia gently tapped Emma's small nose.
Sophia agreed, "Okay, Mama is a big fool."
Sam gestured, "Mama, don't leave me again."
Sophia hugged Sam, "Mama will never leave you again."
Emma threw herself into her arms and coquettishly said, "Mama, I'm not happy when you're not around for meals."
The mother and her three children were extremely affectionate in the hospital room, and the children were gradually healing Sophia.
Outside the ward, Colin looked at Gabriel and adjusted his glasses, his face showing a hint of seriousness, and his voice became serious.
Colin seriously advised, "Given the current situation, it's best for the children to live with Sophia temporarily. Sophia needs the children, and the children need their mother. Mr. Lancaster, for Sophia's sake, I hope you can temporarily set aside everything and make it work for them."
Gabriel's gaze through Colin towards the tightly closed door seemed to hear the laughter of the children inside.
During their time with the Lancaster family, the children had never been so happy.
He felt very uneasy.
He wanted to be a good father, but clearly, he had gone about it the wrong way.
He shouldn't have prevented them from meeting.
Gabriel looked hopefully at Colin and asked, "Can Sophia's depression be cured?"
Colin replied, "Sophia's depression was triggered by the loss of her children. As long as you stop preventing her from being involved in the children's lives, she will gradually heal."
The cause of Sophia's depression was her children, a situation that is easier to treat than most cases of depression, requiring no medication at all.
Gabriel nodded gently.
Jake Hughes crossed his arms against the wall, and upon hearing Colin's words, his eyes flickered, and his hands clenched slowly.
Next door, Madam woke up, and Gabriel brought her over to see Sophia.
Madam kept crying when she saw Sophia.
She apologized, "Sophia, Madam is sorry, it's Madam's fault."
Sophia didn't quite understand, so she hurriedly comforted Madam, "Madam, it's not your fault, you don't need to blame yourself."
Madam insisted, "No, it's my fault. I taught Emma to say those things.
"I wanted you to move back to the Lancaster family, I even thought about getting you back together.
"I shouldn't have held onto that fantasy, the fantasy of your family being reunited.
"It's my fault."
The last time Madam cried so much was when she saw Sophia's "body."
Madam almost fainted from crying.
Gabriel gently patted Madam's back.
Gabriel advised, "Madam, please don't cry, you're still a bit weak."
Sophia finally understood. At that time, Emma wanted to express that she and the children wanted to be with their dad forever, hoping that Sophia would also live with the Lancaster family.
But she misunderstood at the time, thinking that the children's hearts had all been taken by Gabriel.
Sophia handed Madam two tissues and wiped away her tears.
Sophia said, "Madam, I don't blame you. You were also thinking about the children."
She hoped the children would have a healthy and happy home. But Sophia and Gabriel, they couldn't possibly remarry.
