Chapter 318 Acting

Nicholas took out a contract.
"This is my third and final invitation for you to be my daughter's violin teacher."
His voice was cold to the extreme, but his tone was delightful.
Caroline didn't expect that Nicholas hadn't given up on having her as Josie's teacher.
It had been a while since she last saw Josie, and she wondered how she was doing.
Was Josie practicing the violin every day?
Since Daisy didn't allow Josie to learn, she probably wasn't practicing every day.
It was a bit strange. Why didn't Daisy allow Josie to learn the violin, but Nicholas repeatedly wanted to hire her to teach Josie?
This couple was too contradictory.
Caroline couldn't understand and didn't want to think about it.
Right now, all she wanted was to make money, a lot of money, to spare no effort in treating Lisa.
Caroline walked over, picked up the contract, and quickly scanned through it.
The remuneration had doubled compared to last time.
For an art teacher, this remuneration was already twice the industry standard.
In the past, Caroline wouldn't have agreed, but now she couldn't afford to ignore the money.
She raised her head slightly, her exquisite face still familiar to Nicholas, and in a daze, Nicholas's heartbeat quickened a few beats.
Caroline said, "If I sign this contract, will I be considered an employee of the Watson Group?"
Nicholas replied, "No, this doesn't fall under an employment relationship."
Nicholas accurately caught the fleeting sense of loss in Caroline's eyes.
Was Caroline very disappointed that she wouldn't become an employee of the Watson Group?
Did she still want to work at the Watson Group?
At that moment, Nicholas's heart raced wildly, with a voice inside him screaming: Hurry! Hire Caroline, and keep her by your side!
Caroline accepted the contract.
"I'll think about it for two days."
Nicholas nodded. "Okay."
As Caroline was about to leave, Nicholas suddenly picked up a business card.
"Call me when you've made up your mind."
Caroline took it, and this time, she truly left.
For the first time, they had discussed matters so calmly. After Caroline left the office, she felt a deep sense of guilt in her heart.
Nicholas was the one who caused her child's death, yet she wanted to teach Josie the violin.
'Sorry, baby, I really have no choice.'
'When Lisa's condition improves, I'll leave.'
'I will never have anything to do with them again in the future.'
Caroline kept apologizing in her heart, feeling absent-minded, not paying attention to her surroundings, and accidentally bumping into someone.
There was a cry of pain, and the person fell to the ground.
"Sorry." Caroline hurried to help, only to discover it was Daisy. She immediately let go.
"Caroline, why are you here?" Daisy looked at her in shock.
She had been walking and looking at her phone, not paying attention, and got bumped into.
Daisy's eyes shifted, and the next moment, she grimaced in pain, holding her buttocks.
"My butt hurts so much, it must be fractured."
Caroline coldly watched Daisy's wailing, showing no intention of helping or apologizing.
This level of fall wouldn't cause a fracture; Daisy was just acting!
Charles and Sharpe rushed out.
"Ms. Wolf!" They quickly helped Daisy up.
"No, no, it hurts so much." Daisy looked like she couldn't move her lower body, and Charles and Sharpe could only let her continue sitting on the ground.
"What's going on?"
Nicholas also appeared, his gaze coldly sweeping over everyone.
"Charles and I came out when we heard the commotion, but we haven't understood the situation yet," Sharpe explained.
Daisy took the initiative, accusing Caroline, "It's Caroline. She wasn't watching where she was going, and she bumped into me. My butt hurts a lot now, Nicholas, I might have a fracture."
"If it's a fracture, go to the hospital."
Feeling a bit guilty, Daisy wanted Nicholas to stand up for her. It was Caroline's fault, and Nicholas should have scolded Caroline.
Caroline shouldn't be here; maybe she wanted to entangle Nicholas again.
Filled with resentment, Daisy vowed not to allow Caroline to take Nicholas away again!
"Nicholas, I'm going to sue her!"
"Caroline, you must apologize to me and compensate me," Daisy demanded aggressively, glaring at Caroline.
Caroline felt a bit flustered. Were this couple teaming up to frame her?
She wasn't afraid of Daisy alone, but if Nicholas had sided with Daisy, she would have no way out.
At that moment, Caroline really wanted to cry.
But she stubbornly held back her tears.
Nicholas didn't miss the panic in her eyes and felt a pang of tenderness.
Staring coldly at Daisy, he said, "Sharpe, check the surveillance."
Daisy was taken aback.
Caroline had clearly hurt Nicholas badly; did he forget? Why was he helping this woman?
"Nicholas?"
"If you want to sue Caroline, see what the surveillance footage reveals, then decide how you want to proceed with your lawsuit."
Daisy's guilty conscience trembled.
Sharpe quickly brought up the surveillance footage on an iPad and showed it to Nicholas.
Nicholas gestured for him to turn the iPad around, and Caroline clearly saw Daisy walking with her head down, playing with her phone, and not paying attention. Before the collision, Caroline even tried to avoid her slightly.
From the surveillance footage, it was evident that Daisy hadn't been watching where she was going and had collided with Caroline.
Seeing the surveillance footage, Daisy's expression changed rapidly.
She cried out in grievance, "Nicholas."
Caroline was somewhat surprised that Nicholas didn't side with Daisy in dealing with her.
She glanced deeply at Nicholas, clutching the contract tightly in her hand.
"Since it's not my concern, I'll leave first."
Nicholas nodded slightly, and Caroline stepped into the elevator.
As the elevator doors closed, Nicholas wheeled back to his office.
"Ms. Wolf, do you need a ride to the hospital?"
Daisy's face looked very unpleasant as she got up, saying unkindly, "I'm not in pain anymore; it probably isn't a fracture. Thank you, I'm going to find Nicholas."
Daisy knocked on the office door and entered.
"Nicholas, I was just teaching Caroline a lesson for you. Why did you expose me?"
"Get out."
"Nicholas!"
Daisy rarely visited the Watson Group; Nicholas was often away on business and didn't like her coming to the company.
Especially his office; this was only her third time entering it.
Daisy felt very wronged, extremely wronged.
She had been with the Watson family for six years, working hard and raising a child who wasn't biologically hers, but she still couldn't compare to Caroline's presence.
Even if Nicholas hated Caroline, he still couldn't bear to see her mistreated.
Jealousy consumed Daisy; this favor should belong to her; it was hers!
Having known Nicholas since childhood, she shared a close bond with him. Why did Caroline manage to captivate Nicholas's affections midway through?
She clenched her hand tightly, her nails digging into the flesh of her palm, feeling no pain.
She tried hard to endure.
"Nicholas, how should we celebrate your father's birthday?"
