Chapter 523 Fell In
Nicholas was rocking some shorts, and during the massage, it was all about getting those hands on his leg skin. Simon was going on about how the friction from the palms would heat things up and get the blood flowing.
Caroline put her hands on Nicholas's calf, ready to get started.
Simon snapped, "Start from the thigh!"
Caroline's hand shook. "Okay."
She quickly moved her hands to Nicholas's thigh, trying to remember Simon's moves. She slowly pushed bit by bit, found a pressure point, and pressed down hard.
Nicholas's leg jerked.
Caroline jumped.
Simon said, "Nice. A reaction is good. Keep going."
Caroline squatted down. After Simon's praise, she started to relax and got more into it.
Caroline's pretty face was getting all sweaty from the effort, and Nicholas felt a pang in his chest.
He had wanted Caroline to learn to massage him to get closer to her. But seeing her work so hard now, he was having second thoughts.
"Not bad, you're getting the hang of it. Yeah, just like that, the pressure's perfect." Simon watched, getting more and more pleased with Caroline.
Caroline was getting better at it.
Her hair fell onto Nicholas's hand, and he instinctively picked up a strand, twirling it around his fingers.
The faint scent from her body drifted over, making Nicholas's heart melt.
Nicholas's leg started to feel warm. Watching her delicate hands work hard, Nicholas wanted to pull her into his arms and show her how much he cared.
Simon gave Nicholas a knowing look.
Another half hour went by, and Simon wrapped things up and left with his tools.
Before leaving, Simon gave a few last instructions.
"Remember, three times a day, morning, noon, and night, for half an hour each time."
"Got it," Caroline noted everything down.
After seeing Simon off, Caroline had just sat down when she heard Nicholas's low voice.
"I'm sorry. I didn't ask you before making you learn this massage stuff."
"I just don't feel comfortable with other guys, except doctors, touching me."
"Other women are off-limits too."
Caroline was silent, thinking, 'Why is Nicholas being all vague and weird right now?'
But with such a handsome face saying those things, she didn't feel repulsed. Instead, she felt a bit of heartache.
"You can ask Daisy to help. She'd be happy to massage you." Caroline turned her head away, not wanting to look at his sickly and sad face.
Nicholas said, "You're the only one for me."
Caroline's hand, which was fiddling with the corner of her clothes, paused, and her heart started to race.
"If you don't want to, then forget it." Nicholas lowered his head in disappointment, and a wave of loneliness washed over him.
His broad back seemed to shrink, and it wasn't as straight anymore.
Caroline clenched her hand but didn't give in.
Caroline thought, 'Don't think I don't know what Nicholas is up to. I'm not falling for it.'
But the next day, Sharpe called.
"Miss Clark, please help. Mr. Watson won't let me massage him. Simon said if he skips one session, all the progress will be lost."
Caroline's heart tightened. "Does he still want to stand up?"
"Mr. Watson said he wants to keep his body clean for you. He did before, he does now, and he will in the future."
Caroline stayed quiet.
Not long after hanging up on Sharpe, Paul rushed to the school.
"Caroline, whether Nicholas's leg can recover depends on you. Please help him out."
"Caroline, Nicholas really loves you. He hasn't been with Daisy all these years. Please believe him."
"Caroline, Nicholas has only had you as his girlfriend all these years. If you don't help him, he won't be able to stand, and his other leg will be useless too."
"Caroline..."
"Shut up!" Caroline snapped.
Paul immediately clammed up, standing there like a kid who got caught doing something wrong.
Caroline shot him a fierce look.
"Where's Nicholas?"
"At the company."
"I just finished my class, let's go."
Caroline put her violin in the office and followed Paul to the car.
Nicholas was in a meeting when Caroline arrived. She didn't see him and felt super agitated.
"Where is he?"
"In a meeting, hang on, I'll go get him."
Without waiting for Caroline to respond, Paul quickly ran to the meeting room.
In front of all the senior staff, Paul pushed Nicholas's wheelchair out.
"Nicholas, Caroline's here to give you a massage, hurry up."
Nicholas stayed silent.
Sharpe stayed behind, and noticing everyone's shocked faces, he cleared his throat.
"Today's meeting is over. We'll pick this up later."
As soon as Sharpe left, everyone started whispering.
"What's going on?"
"Didn't Mr. Watson say his thing with Miss Wolf was fake?"
"Did they make up?"
"Maybe it's another woman."
In the office, Caroline sat on the couch, checking out Nicholas's office.
'This place is really cold,' Caroline thought.
Not temperature-wise, but the decor was super serious and cold.
The big office was empty except for a set of sofas, a desk and chair, and a cabinet.
Caroline felt like if she spoke, she'd hear an echo.
The space was huge, but there wasn't much in it.
On the way, Paul quickly said, "Nicholas, I brought Caroline here, you better behave."
The door opened, and Paul pushed Nicholas in.
"Caroline, I'll make you a cup of coffee." Paul quickly found an excuse to leave, then left the door slightly ajar and hid behind it to eavesdrop.
Sharpe came back and got pulled into the eavesdropping team by Paul.
Caroline said, "I heard you're not up for the massage."
Nicholas was a bit stunned. He hadn't refused the massage. In the morning, Sharpe watched the video from yesterday to guide him through it.
But he quickly figured it out; this must be Paul's doing.
Nicholas didn't explain and just lowered his head.
"Since you hired Simon to help me with my health, I can help you with the massage in the future, but only at night."
Nicholas's lips curved slightly. "Okay."
He agreed so quickly that Caroline got suspicious for a moment.
She felt like she had fallen into a trap.
"It's lunchtime, let's eat together." Nicholas looked at the clock on the wall.
Caroline thought, 'Since I'm already here, I might as well have a meal before leaving.'
Caroline sighed inwardly. She actually hoped Nicholas could stand up.
Paul and Sharpe made a victory gesture outside.
Sharpe breathed a sigh of relief.
The New Year was coming up, and the school was starting to go on break. Caroline had just finished her last class of the day when she returned to her office and saw Diana there.
