Chapter 145 All Just an Act

"What's wrong? Did you eat something bad?" Sophia worriedly checked on the situation.

"Mummy, it hurts so much..." Emma was on the verge of tears.

"Let's quickly take them to the hospital," Caroline said anxiously.

The two hurriedly took the three children out of the amusement park.

Meanwhile, Gabriel searched the entire park but couldn't find Sophia and Sam's figure.

It felt like finding a needle in a haystack, so Gabriel took out his phone and called the park manager. Checking the surveillance footage was the most convenient and quickest way to determine their location.

Hailing a taxi outside the amusement park was easy. As they got in the car, Ethan suddenly remembered, what if their rotten father couldn't find Mummy and decided to check the surveillance footage?

It must be said that father and son were thinking the same thing.

Gabriel had already contacted the park manager and was on his way to the surveillance room.

Ethan was getting anxious. He looked around and wondered if he should directly tell Mummy that their rotten father was in the amusement park.

But then, it would expose that they knew Gabriel was their real father.

Ethan looked at Caroline sitting in the front passenger seat.

An idea struck him, and he also held his stomach.

"Oh, Mummy, I need to go to the bathroom. I can't hold it anymore."

Both children had stomachaches, and Sophia now regretted not stopping them from eating those street snacks. She had no choice but to ask the driver to pull over.

Luckily, they were in the city center where there were malls everywhere.

Caroline said, "I'll take Ethan and Emma to the restroom. You stay here with Sam."

"Okay."

It could only be done this way.

Today, it was fortunate that Caroline had come out with her; otherwise, it would have been really difficult for her to take care of the three children alone.

Caroline hurriedly took the two children into the mall. She looked at the direction signs, urging them to run towards the restroom. After running for a while, Ethan suddenly stopped.

"Ethan, hurry up!"

"Auntie, my stomach doesn't hurt." Ethan stood upright, breathing slightly, his painful expression from earlier in the car already disappeared.

Caroline looked at Emma again. Goodness, both of them were just pretending.

She glared at them.

"For goodness' sake, why pretend to have a stomach ache?"

"Because we saw our rotten father at the amusement park." Ethan said very seriously.

Caroline's heart skipped a beat, and her mind quickly connected the dots.

"Gabriel is looking for us?"

"He couldn't find Mummy and Sam. He might check the surveillance footage. If he sees me and Emma... Auntie, please help my Mummy." Ethan said urgently.

Caroline didn't say anything and quickly dialed Sophia's number.

Hopefully, there was still time.

The administrator was already retrieving the surveillance footage. This would take some time, so Gabriel sat there and waited. His phone rang, and he picked it up and glanced at it before answering.

"Hello."

"I'm at D World Trade Center with Sam. If you're coming, hurry up."

"Right, we'll be leaving in another half an hour," Sophia's cold voice came through. Gabriel raised an eyebrow, stood up, and informed the administrator, "There's no need to search anymore; I already know where they are." With that, he turned around and left, and the surveillance footage displayed Sophia and Caroline leaving with the three children. If Gabriel had turned around at that moment, he would have seen those two kids.

Feeling uneasy, Sophia sat inside the mall, unsure if Gabriel had seen the surveillance. When they spoke on the phone earlier, Gabriel's voice didn't reveal anything unusual. Could it be that he didn't notice Ethan and Emma? Otherwise, would Gabriel be so calm? He would have definitely called to inquire. Today was too dangerous; it seemed that from now on, she would have to be cautious and vigilant whenever she took the three children anywhere. Next time, maybe luck wouldn't be on their side.

As soon as Gabriel entered, he spotted Sophia and Sam sitting, watching other children play in the bubble pool. His presence seemed to elevate the entire mall, with people's attention drawn towards him. This man was excellent in both appearance and ability, attracting the spotlight wherever he went. Sophia averted her gaze, not wanting to look at him.

"Why did you come here?" Gabriel didn't find the mall entertaining, but compared to the noise of an amusement park, it was much quieter—of course, ignoring the laughter of children in the bubble pool. It seemed like he really hadn't discovered them.

Sophia's anxious heart finally settled as she put on a blank expression and sarcastically said, "The whole city belongs to you, aren't you afraid that I'll run away?"

Hearing her sarcastic remark, Gabriel felt a pang in his heart. "You brought Sam here without permission. If he gets scared and has nightmares, it would give you another opportunity to get close to him."

He retorted sarcastically as well, and the two of them engaged in a battle of words. Sensing the tense atmosphere between them, Sam's little face flickered with concern. He tugged on Aunt Kelly's clothes and then pulled on his father's sleeve. Both Gabriel and Sophia looked at Sam with tenderness, their facial expressions changing almost as swiftly as a performance.

"I'm hungry," Sam gestured.

"Auntie will take you to eat," Sophia intended to carry Sam, but Gabriel beat her to it and lifted Sam up, which annoyed Sophia.

With Caroline taking care of Ethan and Emma, Sophia felt at ease. To keep Gabriel from discovering Ethan and Emma, Sophia had no choice but to take Sam with Gabriel for a meal. She had planned the whole day, with the amusement park in the morning, the aquarium in the afternoon, and then dinner outside before letting Gabriel pick them up. Everything was disrupted by Gabriel's unexpected arrival. Sophia couldn't help but feel frustrated.

Gabriel is dead.

She doesn't show him any kindness, not even a gentle word. But when it comes to Sam, she puts on a completely different face, tender and caring, as if treating a treasure.

Gabriel feels increasingly angered by this.

He doesn't even know where this anger is coming from.

Could it be jealousy?

He doesn't even like Sophia, so why would he be jealous?

Gabriel attributes this anger to Sophia's attitude towards him. He has already made concessions, agreed to let Sam stay with her on even-numbered days. For Sam's sake, he can forgive her deceitful death pretense and try to be friendly, to pull Sam out of the abyss together.

But this woman still treats him with disrespect, her nose not really a nose, her eyes not really eyes.

Gabriel also reveals two faces, cold as ice towards Sophia and filled with fatherly love and affection towards Sam.

Sam ...

He feels that something is off between Daddy and Aunt Kelly, but he can't quite put his finger on it.

During the meal, the atmosphere becomes particularly strange.

"Sister."

Hmm? That voice sounds familiar!

Sophia turns her head and sees that sunny and handsome face, slightly taken aback.

"What are you doing here?"

Jake walks over, pleasantly surprised but with a hint of reproach in his voice.

"Sister said she would treat me to a meal."
