Chapter 699 The Game of Adults

Sophia put the lunchbox on the table and asked him, "What are you laughing at?"

Gabriel said, "I am happy to see you."

They had lunch together, and Sophia decided to take a nap directly in Gabriel's lounge, while Gabriel didn't rest after lunch and sat at his desk reading documents.

Alex knocked and came in, holding some medicine.

"Mr. Lancaster, this is the medication from the hospital for this afternoon."

Gabriel raised a finger to his lips, "Sophie is resting."

Alex lightened his steps and lowered his voice, "Take two of these pills, and one of this one."

As Alex spoke, he poured out the doses for the afternoon and handed them to Gabriel.

Gabriel took the medicine and then put all the bottles into the drawer.

Alex reminded him, "You need to take it again after dinner, three times a day, all after meals."

"Got it."

"I've checked the banks you asked me to. Two of them have dealings with Micro Circuit Group, but the rest have no relationships with them."

Hearing this, Gabriel frowned.

It seemed like there was no problem.

He felt it wasn't that simple based on his sharp intuition for years.

"Keep a close eye on Micro Circuit Group's movements, especially their boss, Jake."

"Yes, sir!"

After Alex left, Gabriel picked up his phone and opened the photo.

He was angry when he saw the photo yesterday, but more than that, he felt hurt. In his opinion, Jake held a certain place in Sophia's heart.

He was a bit jealous of Jake.

So last night, he really wanted to possess Sophia, but in the end, he held back and just found a clumsy excuse to get close to her.

Sophia knew he was deliberately staying in her room, but she didn't forcefully drive him away. At that moment, he sensed that Sophia's heart was softening towards him again.

Gabriel slightly turned his head to look at the door of the lounge, as if he could see Sophia sleeping on his bed through the door.

His lips slightly lifted, and he deleted the photo with a swipe of his finger.

No matter what place Jake held in Sophia's heart, Sophia was his now, and he would never leave her in this lifetime!

Because she didn't sleep well last night, Sophia slept a bit longer this time. When she woke up groggily, she found herself in a broad, warm embrace.

She opened her sleepy eyes, and she felt at ease smiling the familiar scent.

"Aren't you not sleeping?" Sophia's voice was still a bit hoarse from just waking up.

Gabriel reached out and brushed her hair, "Yeah, I'm watching you sleep."

Sophia snuggled closer into his embrace.

Gabriel's body stiffened, and he placed his hand on her head, gently rubbing it.

"Aren't you busy this afternoon?"

Sophia replied, "A bit busy, but you fell asleep like that last night. I was disappointed. Aren't you going to make it up to me?"

Gabriel's eyes sparkled with a hint of mischief as he twirled a strand of Sophia's hair around his finger.

"Are you sure you want me to make it up to you?" His deep voice was even more seductive.

Sophia blushed, wondering if she was being too forward.

"Yes!" Sophia decided to follow her heart.

Gabriel said, "Now?"

"Are you scared?" Sophia slightly raised her chin, not knowing Gabriel could be scared.

Gabriel suddenly flipped over, pressing her underneath him, and kissed her on the lips, his eyes filled with desires.

"I'm afraid you'll be scared."

Sophia grabbed his collar and said, "If you dare fall asleep again this time..."

Before she could finish her sentence, Gabriel sealed her lips with his.

The curtains blocked out the daylight, so the room was dim. But Sophia and Gabriel were hotly lingering on the bed.

This was an adult's game.

Jennifer came out of the office and didn't see Sophia, so she grabbed Larry and asked, "Where's Sophie?"

Larry replied, "Sophia went out this morning and hasn't come back. I texted and called her, but she didn't respond."

Jennifer frowned and returned to the office.

Sophie probably went to deliver lunch to Gabriel at noon. She should have been back by now; it's already 3:30, and she didn't appear. Could something have happened on the way?

Jennifer called Sophia, but there was no answer. She then called Gabriel, but he didn't answer either.

Why weren't Sophia and Gabriel answering their phones?

"They must be together," David said with a stern face.

Jennifer suddenly realized and sighed with a smile, "Young people these days are much more passionate about love than we were."

David snorted coldly.

Jennifer walked over and said, "Sophia is your sister's daughter. Don't always think about separating her from Gabriel. Sophie knows what she wants. Since they got back together, it means Sophie has feelings for Gabriel."

David said, "I don't want them to break up."

He was just upset. He hadn't had enough time to dote on Sophia, and now she belonged to Gabriel.

It was his fault for not finding her sooner.

The more David thought about it, the more he blamed himself. The more upset he became, his face showed his frustration.

Jennifer, seeing David was so stubborn, didn't bother to argue with him.

After a while, David stood up and said, "Invite Sophie to dinner at home tonight."

"Okay," Jennifer responded absentmindedly.

David had returned to the country this morning, and this time, he was settling down for good to reunite with his family.

There were still many things to handle with the Blackwood Group's relocation back to the country. After leaving Fusion Dynamics Corporation, David went straight back to the company.

Around 4:30, Sophia returned to Fusion Dynamics Corporation. She looked radiant and happy.

Larry asked, "Sophia, did you go on a date?"

Sophia's face turned slightly red.

"Did you finish your design draft?" Sophia didn't answer but asked back.

Larry's face immediately fell, "I'll keep drawing."

He sat down, looking dejected.

Sophia smiled and returned to her seat, staring at the 3D display on her computer, lost in thought.

She kept thinking of Gabriel in her mind.

She gently rubbed her slightly sore legs and lowered her head. Had she finally found mutual love?

In the evening, Sophia and Jennifer went back to the Blackwood Manor for dinner. The family sat together. They are warm and happy, with the three children making Celeste laugh heartily.

After Sophia and the children left, Celeste looked at Colin and sighed heavily.

Colin immediately became alert, his expression tense, and his glasses almost falling off his nose.

Celeste looked at him sadly and said, "When can I be like Ruth, playing with my grandchildren every day?"

Colin thought, 'I knew it!'

He wanted to escape, as far as possible.

"Exactly, Mom. If Sophie successfully prepares for this fashion show, I think she can start taking over Fusion Dynamics Corporation. What will I do when I retire without any grandchildren around?" Jennifer also joined in urging Colin to get married.
