Chapter 110 Letting Go

"Oh, by the way, what happened when you went to the police station that day?" Gabriel suddenly remembered to ask about it.

Speaking of this, Alex once again lamented his bad luck and couldn't help but complain again, "I was trying to help him since he couldn't reach the stall, but then he suddenly yelled that I was a human trafficker. That kid is too alert and cleverly cunning."

The more he thought about it now, the more he felt that the child had deliberately played him.

But did he have any grudges against him?

"He looks just like you."

What Alex wanted to express was that the child looked very similar to Gabriel.

But what Gabriel understood was that the child's cleverness and cunning were similar to him.

If there was any resemblance, it was Sam who inherited his intelligence and wit.

Thinking about how Sam inherited many of his strengths, he then thought of those two children again. If they were still alive, did they also inherit many of his strengths?

Then, he thought of Milk Sugar again...

"How is Milk Sugar doing recently?"

While Alex continued to rant about his own feelings, he suddenly heard the boss ask about Milk Sugar, and he almost choked on his own saliva.

"Milk Sugar’s Instagram has over ten million followers, and many have approached her for endorsement deals. However, she has rejected all of them. There are also some scandals, but they can't create any significant impact."

Gabriel nodded thoughtfully.

"She still refuses to sign?"

"Yes."

"Then contact her parents."

"Alright."

Not long after that, Alex found out the reason for Sophia's leave.

"Vincent?"

Was he the man Alex saw when he went to capture Sophia last time?

He was the one who ended up in the hospital, so why did Sophia go to take care of him?

Who was Sophia to him?

Alex went out to continue working.

...

Sophia stayed in the hospital for a day and brought dinner in the evening.

She hadn't slept all night, and she hadn't rested much during the day either. The dark circles under her eyes were visible, and her complexion looked worn out.

"You should go back and rest," Vincent felt sorry for her, and the pain of rejection in his heart seemed to be healed.

But Sophia shook her head, "I'm not at ease. I'll stay tonight to take care of you."

"How is my injury? I know it myself, I don't need you here specifically, and there are nurses and Ethan and Emma who need you," Vincent furrowed his brows.

Vincent was happy that Sophia wanted to stay, but he wouldn't actually let her stay.

"I already talked to Ethan and Emma, and they agreed," Sophia said.

"Sophia!" Vincent suddenly called her sternly.

Sophia froze, lowered her head, and her guilt could no longer be concealed.

She sat on the edge of the bed, looking like a child who had done something wrong.

Vincent sighed helplessly and affectionately reached out to caress her head.

"Just forget what I said to you last night, from now on..." He paused for a moment, but ultimately decided to say,

"Here it is 'I am your real older brother,'" Vincent said as he spoke up.

Sophia looked up at him in surprise.

Suddenly, Vincent felt a sense of relief.

Liking her didn't necessarily mean he had to possess her. Perhaps, it would be good enough to protect her in a different way.

He was also afraid that Sophia would ignore him from now on.

Fortunately, Sophia didn't despise him. She took care of him attentively when he was injured.

He deeply understood that Sophia's care for him wasn't that of a lover but that of a family member.

"Then I'll call you 'brother' from now on," Sophia happily exclaimed.

"Alright."

Sophia cheerfully called him "brother" a few more times.

Ever since she was young, she had hoped to have an older brother who could play with her, protect her, and be her support. Unfortunately, her parents only had her, and even though she had cousins, they weren't particularly close.

Vincent gave her the feeling of being an older brother, so she had considered him as one from the start.

With Vincent able to come to terms with it, Sophia also felt relieved. She didn't want anything else to happen to Vincent.

She hoped that Vincent would meet a girl who would see nothing but him.

Sophia didn't insist on staying any longer. Before leaving, she gave some instructions to the nurse, though the nurse actually knew more than she did.

She came back the next day in the morning and then hurried off to work, telling Vincent she would bring him food in the evening.

In the evening, Sophia came with her two children.

The two children knew that their godfather was injured, so they were very worried. They gathered around Vincent, showing their concern.

Sophia went out to fetch water and on her way back, she saw Gabriel.

Her steps faltered, and her heart fell into disarray.

How did Gabriel end up here?!

If Ethan and Emma came out of the hospital room at that moment, they would run into Gabriel head-on.

She absolutely couldn't let that happen.

"What are you doing here?" Sophia preemptively questioned him.

This woman, what was with her attitude? It was as if she had killed her parents.

"This is a hospital. Is there something wrong with me being here?" Gabriel countered.

"No, then please leave, Mr. Lancaster." She didn't want to argue with Gabriel; she just wanted to enter the hospital room quickly and hide the two children.

"Hold on a moment." Gabriel grabbed hold of her, and Sophia's heart skipped a beat.

She even forgot to shake off Gabriel.

Nervousness buzzed in her ears.

"What is your relationship with Vincent?"

Sophia tightly held onto her thermos, her fingers turning white from the force.

"Does it concern you?" She sneered, "You're only my ex-husband."

The implicit meaning behind her words was that he had no right to interfere in her personal relationships.

Gabriel frowned.

He didn't even know why he asked that question.

"Well, ex-wife, you better not think of finding a stepfather for Sam."

Wasn't she the one adamantly against Tiffany becoming Sam's stepmother? Then, did that mean he had the right to demand

She forbade Sam from finding a stepfather.

Sophia's indifferent gaze swept across his face.

"You can be rest assured, I won't be as blind as you."

She forcefully freed herself from Gabriel's shackles, turned around, and quickly entered the hospital room, then slammed the door shut.

"Mama." Ethan looked over in confusion. Why was Mama's reaction so intense?

Sophia immediately put a finger to her lips and whispered, "Shh."

Emma also looked puzzled. What's wrong with Mama?

Sophia glanced outside quietly and saw Gabriel entering a nearby hospital room. She hurriedly put down the thermos and hastily said, "Brother, I'm taking Ethan and Emma back first. If you need anything, call a nurse."

"Alright."

Vincent didn't even have a chance to ask what happened when Sophia pulled each of them along like a whirlwind and ran off.

Gabriel had come to visit a collaborator today. When he came out, Sophia was already sitting in a taxi with the two children.

He passed by Vincent's hospital room and paused for a second. He looked inside through the small window on the door, but didn't see Sophia. With a gentle expression, he walked away.

The only person who could make Mama so flustered is the scoundrel of a father.

So Ethan and Emma speculated that Mama had encountered their scoundrel father at the hospital.

Ethan and Emma exchanged glances, confirming their answer.

When Tiffany called, Gabriel was getting ready to drive.

Seeing that it was still early, he agreed to Tiffany.
