Chapter 560 One-Month Birthday Celebration

Dylan had more cash to throw around than I ever thought. He even helped some other chick start a chain of beauty salons.

Meanwhile, Katherine felt all kinds of guilty for spending even a little, thinking about how hard he worked for it while she just blew it away.

Right now, Katherine felt like she didn't know Dylan at all, even though they were together all the time.

Sophia handed her a couple of tissues.

"Katherine, chill out."

Dylan's cheating felt like the world was crashing down on Katherine.

After a long cry, Katherine finally started to calm down.

They finished one cup of coffee, got a refill, and just sat there the whole morning.

When they left, Katherine's face was blank. The weight of her family stuff was dragging her down, making her look older and more tired.

Sophia then went to pick up the kids.

Sophia thought, 'What happens next is up to Katherine.'

Ever since that night she cried herself to sleep in Nicholas's arms, Caroline felt super awkward around him.

She didn't know what went down that day, her emotions just went haywire.

Since then, things with Nicholas had gotten even more complicated.

Even though Nicholas explained what she saw, it was too late. She was stuck in doubt, not sure if she could believe him. Or if she even wanted to.

Caroline sat in her office, staring off into space.

Deep down, she wanted to believe him, but she was scared. Scared there might be more to it.

She was scared of getting hurt again.

"Miss Clark?"

Wesley tapped the table.

Caroline snapped back to reality.

"Wesley, what's up?"

"I've called you like a million times, what are you thinking about?"

Caroline replied vaguely, "Nothing."

"Still thinking about the investigation?"

Caroline shook her head.

"Is it about Ms. Allen?"

Caroline thought for a moment and nodded, just to get Wesley off her back.

Wesley pulled up a chair and sat in front of her.

"Don't stress about it, Ms. Allen's name is cleared. The authorities found out it was those bad students acting out of revenge."

"Okay."

Wesley continued, "And about your issue, the school's cleared it up too. Now that you're back teaching, just let it go."

"Alright."

"How about we grab some stew tonight?"

Caroline refused, "Nah, I got plans tonight. I'll treat you another day."

"Alright then."

After work, Nicholas's car was parked near the school gate, and Caroline saw it from a distance.

'Nicholas is back from his business trip?' Caroline wondered.

She walked over, opened the back door, and got in. Meeting Nicholas's eyes, she suddenly didn't know what to say.

Nicholas sensed her awkwardness and smiled.

"In a few days, it's Daisy's baby's one-month party. You should come with me."

Caroline was puzzled and thought, 'Didn't Nicholas tell his family the baby isn't his? Why are the Watsons still having a party? Do they not care if the baby is Nicholas's or not?'

Caroline didn't want to go at all and immediately refused, "Let Sharpe go with you."

Nicholas gently shook his head. "It only makes sense if you go with me."

Caroline thought, 'Why?' She was about to refuse again when Nicholas handed her a box.

"A gift from my trip."

He had been away for a week, and he missed her a lot.

He wanted to hug her, kiss her, but he was afraid of scaring her.

"Go ahead, open it," Nicholas said softly.

Caroline opened the box and found a super fancy watch with a diamond on the dial. It was clearly worth a lot.

She looked at Nicholas, her lips moved, but before she could say anything, Nicholas cut her off, "Don't even start with the 'I can't accept it' stuff. From now on, every time I come back from a business trip, you, Josie, and Lisa are all getting gifts."

He then pulled out a shopping bag. "How about this one for Lisa? Think she'll like it?"

If Caroline was going to be his wife, then Lisa was family too, and he had to win her over.

Caroline's words got stuck in her throat, and she had no choice but to accept the gift.

Nicholas had picked out a scarf for Lisa, and Caroline thought it was perfect for her.

She had to admit, Nicholas had great taste.

That evening, Lisa happily whipped up a big meal and invited Nicholas and Sharpe to stay for dinner.

After getting better, Daisy moved straight into the Watson Mansion. Trevor was a Watson, so he had to live there, and as his mom, Daisy couldn't just leave him and go back home.

Aragorn was all excited about Trevor's one-month celebration, sending out invites half a month in advance.

He invited almost half the business world, all their partners, and friends and family.

To show how big a deal it was, the celebration was held at the Watson Mansion, with the best chefs and pastry chefs from City B.

That day, Aragorn was all smiles, greeting the guests, and Paul was stuck at the door welcoming them.

The Lancasters and the Blackwoods were invited too, but Gabriel didn't show, only Colin from the Blackwoods came.

"Where's Nicholas?" Aragorn asked Paul during a free moment.

"I don't know." Paul thought, Nicholas probably wouldn't show up tonight.

After all, Trevor wasn't Nicholas's kid, only Aragorn, who had something loose in his head, believed Trevor was his grandson.

Aragorn's face immediately darkened, and he walked off to call Nicholas.

"Nicholas is here." Paul's eyes lit up.

He had a feeling tonight was going to be interesting.

A Bentley pulled up at the door, Sharpe helped Nicholas out, then opened the other door, and Caroline stepped out in black high heels.

"Caroline looks stunning tonight," Paul praised.

Caroline was wearing a black evening gown, off-shoulder and backless, showing off her delicate shoulders, beautiful collarbones, and back.

Her perfect figure was on full display.

But she had a long black scarf around her neck.

After getting out, Caroline draped the scarf over her shoulders like a shawl.

Paul joked to himself, 'Caroline looks like a rich lady.'

Caroline was also a bit speechless; the scarf was something Nicholas insisted she wear.

Originally, Caroline was a very beautiful young woman, but with the scarf, she looked like a dignified and elegant lady.

Aragorn was happy to see Nicholas, but his face soured when he saw Caroline.

"Why did you bring her!"

Nicholas spoke slowly, "She's my date tonight. If she can't go in, then I won't go in either."

Aragorn's fierce gaze swept over Caroline.

Caroline didn't meet his eyes, acting like he didn't exist, even though his gaze was like a knife.

She stood quietly behind Nicholas.

Paul walked over. "Uncle Aragorn, don't get mad on such a happy day. You were looking forward to Nicholas coming, and now he's here."

Aragorn finally waved his hand and turned away.

"Nicholas, take Caroline inside." Paul winked, looking very excited.
