Chapter 70 Medicine
"Sam, this is auntie's homemade porridge. It's very delicious, try it," Sophia said affectionately.
Tiffany didn't want to be left behind, "This is special nutritional porridge that Auntie bought. It will make you feel better quickly."
Sam, clutching his blanket, didn't know which one to choose.
He didn't like Mrs. Foster, but if he didn't give Mrs. Foster face, she would get angry, and that was terrifying.
He was scared.
But Aunt Kelly made one personally.
Ethan and Emma said Aunt Kelly is a great cook. He wanted to try it.
Sophia looked at Sam expectantly, but her bowl suddenly became empty. She looked up.
Gabriel's face darkened as he put his bowl aside.
While Tiffany was feeling triumphant, Gabriel took her bowl away too.
"Gabriel," Tiffany didn't understand.
"You both go out, I'll feed him," Gabriel stated decisively.
Sophia didn't want her son to go hungry, so for once she didn't argue with Gabriel and obediently left.
Tiffany could only follow suit when she saw this.
Once they left, Gabriel's cold expression immediately softened.
"Daddy will feed you." He picked up Tiffany's bowl, but Sam pointed to Sophia's bowl.
"Do you want to eat this?" he asked.
Sam nodded.
Since Daddy was feeding him, he naturally wanted to choose Aunt Kelly's porridge that she made personally.
Gabriel carefully fed him.
After tasting it, Sam gave it a big thumbs up in his mind. Ethan and Emma didn't lie to him.
He finished one bowl quickly and still wanted more, but Gabriel refused.
"You can't have too much. You can drink more when you feel hungry later."
The doctor said he needs to control his intake and have smaller meals frequently.
A rumbling sound came from Gabriel's stomach, and Gabriel blushed while Sam stared at his belly and gestured, saying, "Daddy, you're hungry."
Gabriel hadn't eaten all day. He had been at the hospital, and even though Tiffany brought him lunch, he couldn't eat it.
He was quite hungry now.
"Daddy, drink porridge," Sam pointed to Sophia's bowl which still had a lot left.
"Okay, Daddy will have some too." Gabriel didn't want to brush off his son's concern, so he poured a bowl for himself, took a sip, and paused.
Sophia's cooking was pretty good.
He finished a bowl in just a few mouthfuls but didn't feel satisfied.
Sam asked him to drink another bowl.
Seeing Daddy eat his fill, Sam felt like he had fulfilled his duty of supervising Daddy to eat on time, and he felt very happy inside.
...
Seeing Mommy carrying the porridge outside, Ethan and Emma exchanged glances for a moment.
"Is someone sick?"
Usually, Mommy would only cook porridge when he and Emma were sick.
Emma guessed, "Is it Aunt Kelly?"
"Is it Sam? Ethan's younger brother?"
Ethan thought it was very likely, why else would Mom be carrying porridge as she left?
The two little ones were also worried about Sam, so Ethan sent him a message using his phone watch.
However, Sam didn't reply.
Ethan had no choice but to go to the study and search on Mom's computer, successfully finding the hospital where Sam was admitted.
"Let's go visit Sam, too," Emma said with concern.
"Yes, we'll go see him tomorrow."
The two little ones agreed, and there was a strange atmosphere at the hospital. Sophia and Tiffany sat on opposite sides after leaving the ward.
"Miss Kelly," Tiffany broke the silence.
Sophia ignored her.
"Do you have any misunderstanding about me?" Tiffany frowned as if genuinely confused.
"I think you should be clear about it," Sophia said coldly.
"I don't understand."
Sophia sneered, "Since you insist on me being more explicit, I'll waste a bit of breath. Those text messages five years ago, you sent them, right?"
Tiffany felt a nervous twinge but quickly realized that she had no evidence. "What text messages?"
"Ha, pretending won't help. If I hadn't discovered that number, maybe even I would've been fooled by your facade."
"I don't understand what you're talking about."
Sophia's gaze turned icy as she looked at Tiffany.
Her almond eyes seemed to see through one's soul, making Tiffany's heart skip a beat.
She turned her head and avoided Sophia's eyes.
"You're really good at pretending, but no matter how you pretend, it's best not to let me catch any of your little tricks in the future. Otherwise, I'll expose you completely."
Regardless of how Tiffany used to be, if she dared to harm Sam now, Sophia would not let her off.
When it was about time, Sophia entered the ward again.
She suggested staying to accompany Sam but was refused by Gabriel.
"I'll stay here," he said expressionlessly.
Sophia wanted to say something more, but when she caught Tiffany's fleeting smirk, anger surged within her.
"Get rid of this woman, or else I'll just sit here and not leave," Sophia sat stubbornly on the couch.
Let her throw a tantrum if she wanted to.
She wouldn't let Tiffany stay with Sam.
Gabriel gave Sophia a meaningful look and inexplicably found her somewhat adorable.
Was he going crazy?
But even if Sophia didn't say it, he would still send Tiffany back.
He was enough on his own.
"Miss Kelly, you're being unreasonable," Tiffany said, her fingers trembling from anger.
Sophia gave her a cold glance. "You have no right to speak to me or stay here."
"You!"
Tiffany turned to Gabriel; her eyes full of accusation.
"You should go back first," Gabriel said gently to Tiffany.
Tiffany widened her eyes.
He actually went towards Sophia!
In fact, Gabriel did it for Tiffany's sake, as he wouldn't be able to sleep well at the hospital after all.
Tiffany took a deep breath, suppressing her anger inside.
"Miss Kelly, let's go."
They left together, while Sam watched curiously.
Aunt Kelly is amazing, she's not afraid of making Mrs. Foster angry.
Another bed was added to the ward, and Gabriel worked on his computer for a while before accompanying his son to sleep at ten o'clock.
With his father by his side, Sam felt at ease and was no longer as scared of the hospital as before.
On the other hand, Sophia didn't leave the hospital.
She went to the doctor's office to learn about Sam's condition and took photos of the medical records to send to the lawyer.
The next morning, Emma refused to go to school, so Sophia had no choice but to help the two kids request leave.
She woke up early and cooked porridge, bringing it to the hospital for Sam before she went to work.
This time, she made sure to watch Sam finish the porridge before she felt relieved enough to go to work.
Just as she left, Tiffany arrived at the hospital with medicine.
"Gabriel, this is the medicine prescribed by Alfred. Sam can start taking it when he's feeling better."
Although the heating was on in the ward, Tiffany inexplicably felt a chill.
She looked at Gabriel, feeling uneasy inside.
"Let's leave it for now." Gabriel restrained the coldness emanating from him.
All medicines have their dangers.
Alfred had once suggested using medication to treat Sam, but Gabriel had refused.
Is there really no other way now?
"The medicine prescribed by Alfred is mild and won't have any side effects." Tiffany placed the medicine on the bedside table.
Gabriel didn't say anything more.
Sam didn't understand, but ever since Tiffany appeared, he had hidden all of his emotions inside.
