Chapter 630 Mommy's Concerns
Sophia knew she and Gabriel were divorced, and staying at The Lancaster Manor wasn't a long-term fix.
It'd also mess with her reputation.
But Gabriel had the kids now, and she moved into The Lancaster Manor to see them every day.
She was worried about their safety too.
With her busy schedule, she had less time for them.
"If I move to The Blackwood Manor, how much time would I have with the kids?" Sophia wondered, feeling torn.
She knew she shouldn't stay at The Lancaster Manor, but she didn't want to be far from the kids.
"Aunt."
Jennifer gave her a comforting smile.
"I get it. David will be back next month. Once the Blackwood Group is set up in City B, he won't have to travel to Country M as much. Then, we can hire the best lawyer to fight for custody again."
"This time, we'll definitely get custody of the kids."
"And about their safety, don't worry. The Blackwood Manor's bodyguards are top-notch."
Celeste and Jennifer had thought of everything for her.
It seemed like she had nothing to worry about.
But something was still bugging her, stopping her from making a decision.
"Sophia, as long as you're willing, the entire Blackwoods can stand against Gabriel."
Sophia knew that with the Blackwoods' power, they had a good shot at winning custody.
"But would the kids be hurt?"
"Aunt, I need to think about it."
"Okay." Jennifer walked over, brushed a strand of hair off her shoulder, and said gently, "If you still like Gabriel and want to be with him, we'll support you too."
"Be back with him?" Sophia thought to herself.
She hadn't considered that yet.
She still felt very insecure.
Sophia got home, and the kids rushed to her, excited.
"Mommy, we missed you so much."
Emma shook Sophia's hand playfully.
Seeing their adorable faces, Sophia's heart melted.
She hugged and kissed her three lovely kids.
Even though it seemed normal, Ethan sensed something was on Sophia's mind.
He gently tugged on Emma and exchanged a look.
Sam thought, "Are you two having a secret conversation without me?"
"What do you want to play? Mommy will play with you." Sophia put down her bag, changed into slippers, and led the kids inside.
Emma said, "We don't want to play anything. We promised great-grandma to watch TV with her."
Ruth asked, "When did I ask you to promise that?"
Sophia continued, "Then I'll join you in watching TV with great-grandma."
"No need, Mommy. You can go do your own things. Just tell us a story tonight."
Sophia replied, "It's okay. I came home early just to spend time with you."
"Really, it's fine, Mommy. Go take a shower, or you're gonna smell." Emma pushed Sophia upstairs.
Seeing the three kids all showing a look of disdain, Sophia felt a bit hurt and quickly went upstairs to take a shower.
The three kids gathered around Ruth.
Ruth pinched each of their noses.
"You little rascals."
The three kids giggled shyly.
"Tell me, why did you get rid of your mommy?"
"Great-grandma, I think Mommy's got something on her mind," Ethan said, looking all worried.
"What is it?" Ruth thought about how Sophia looked earlier. Her brows were furrowed, definitely something on her mind.
"What do you want to do?"
Emma chimed in happily, "We want to help Mommy solve her problems!"
Sam nodded firmly.
Ruth chuckled.
They whispered and plotted in the living room.
Sophia took a shower, changed into casual clothes, and then went downstairs to find the kids.
She first checked their homework.
Even though they always aced their exams, Sophia still made sure they studied hard and did their homework.
After checking, Sophia played games with them.
"Mommy."
"Yes?"
"Can we go on a trip this weekend?" Emma looked up, her cheeks rosy.
Sophia suddenly remembered it had been a long time since she took the kids on a trip.
But this week, she had promised to take them back to The Blackwood Manor.
"How about next week? This week, Celeste misses you and wants you to visit."
Emma agreed, "Okay, then it's a deal. Next weekend, Mommy will take us on a trip."
"Alright."
"Shake on it."
Sophia shook hands with the three kids.
"Mommy, let's prepare a gift for Celeste," Ethan suggested.
"Sure." Sophia started thinking about what gift to make.
Emma added, "And for David, Jennifer, and Colin."
Sam nodded too.
Seeing the kids so excited about seeing Celeste, Sophia felt moved.
She gauged the right moment to ask them.
"Mommy has a question for you."
"Yes?" The three kids tilted their heads to look at Sophia.
"If Celeste wants you to stay at The Blackwood Manor for a while, would you be willing?"
"Yes," Emma answered without hesitation.
Ethan and Sam also nodded in agreement.
"What if you had to live with Celeste forever?"
Ethan and Emma exchanged a look.
They seemed to have caught on to Sophia's concerns.
"We'd love to," Emma said, then frowned and asked, "But what about Ruth? Can Ruth live at Celeste's house too?"
This question stumped Sophia.
"Sophia, are you planning to take the kids to live at The Blackwood Manor?" Betty pushed Ruth over.
Sophia quickly explained, "No, Grandma, I was just asking."
Catching her somewhat flustered look, Ruth understood.
The Blackwoods probably thought that Sophia had no status living at The Lancaster Manor, which would be bad for her reputation, so they wanted Sophia to take the kids back to The Blackwood Manor.
To be honest, Ruth didn't want Sophia and the kids to leave The Lancaster Manor.
When Sophia was at The Lancaster Manor, it made her feel like the house was finally home.
Obviously, Sophia hadn't decided whether to return to The Blackwood Manor.
Ruth smiled.
"If you want to take the kids to stay at The Blackwood Manor temporarily, that's fine. I'll go with you. Celeste and I can keep each other company."
Sophia mused, "Ruth wants to go with us to The Blackwood Manor? Wouldn't that leave Gabriel all alone in the huge Lancaster Manor?"
Imagining Gabriel coming home every day to a cold, empty mansion, Sophia was kind of eager to see it.
"Great! We'll take great-grandma to Celeste's house. Celeste will be so happy." Emma clapped her hands excitedly.
