Chapter 362 The Inopportune Person
This time, the vacation spot was City M. The weather was getting hotter, but the climate in City M was warm and pleasant.
Sophia ordered some local delicacies, completely ignoring Gabriel's presence. She focused on eating her food and taking care of the three children.
Emma clung to Gabriel, and Gabriel fed Emma. They had a very good relationship.
"Daddy, we're going out to play this afternoon. Are you coming?" Emma invited Gabriel.
Sophia smiled gently and said, "Emma, your daddy is very busy. Don't bother him."
Since Gabriel said he was here on a business trip, he must be very busy. Better not join in the fun.
"I happen to be free this afternoon. I can join you."
Fate always had another plan. When Sophia didn't expect something, it would happen.
The children were all very happy, and she couldn't bear to dampen their spirits.
They hurriedly finished their meal, and Sophia took the three children back for a nap. Around three in the afternoon, Sophia took the children out.
Gabriel was waiting in the hotel lobby. As soon as he saw them, he walked over.
"Where are you planning to go?" he asked Sophia, but Emma answered him.
"To the beach."
"Let's go."
Gabriel picked up Emma, and Sophia held Sam and Ethan's hands.
His car was parked right at the hotel entrance. The three children got into the back seat, and Sophia was about to get in, too.
"The back seat can only fit three people," Gabriel gently reminded.
Actually, the back seat was spacious enough for the three children, and Sophia could have fit as well.
"Traffic regulations are strict. You don't want to set a bad example for the kids, do you?"
Gabriel's words made Sophia pause.
The three children were looking at her. Sophia gave herself a mental pep talk and eventually got into the front passenger seat.
As soon as she got in, she immediately fastened her seatbelt, not wanting to give him any chance to get close to her.
"Let's go!" Emma shouted excitedly.
Gabriel smiled lightly.
The beach Sophia chose had clean ocean and a good environment. It wasn't overcrowded, but there were still quite a few tourists.
After parking the car, Sophia changed the children into their swimsuits. She herself wore just a white T-shirt paired with black shorts, showing off her long, straight legs and a sun hat on her head.
The sea breeze blew, fresh and salty.
Emma ran out onto the sand, and Ethan and Sam quickly chased after her.
"Don't run too far," Sophia called out.
She had a camera hanging around her neck and followed the children slowly.
Gabriel was dressed casually. He didn't change into swimwear, but it didn't matter for getting into the water.
Gabriel's tall figure followed behind Sophia, keeping a step's distance. Watching Sophia's ponytail sway, he felt a sense of contentment.
Indeed, coming out to play not only allowed him to spend more time with her but also let her relax, and the children could have fun. It was a win-win situation.
But why did an inopportune person appear?
"Sophia!" Jake called out in surprise.
Sophia stopped and looked over, showing a surprised expression when she saw Jake. "What are you doing here?"
Jake walked over happily. "I came to City M to handle some things. I had some free time this afternoon, so a friend dragged me here to play. What about you? Are you here on vacation? Where are the kids?"
"The kids are over there." Sophia pointed.
Jake smiled warmly, looking into the distance.
"Didn't expect to run into you in City M. Is it because I haven't visited you in a long time, and God couldn't stand it?" he joked.
"Maybe."
Sophia chatted and laughed with Jake, completely ignoring the gloomy-faced Gabriel beside her.
"Mr. Lancaster, you're here too?" Jake seemed to notice him just now.
Gabriel forced a smile and said, "Of course, I'm the children's father; I'm here."
His voice was deliberately emphasized as if declaring some kind of sovereignty.
Jake chuckled and said, "No wonder the Lancaster Group's stock price has been dropping recently. It turns out that Mr. Lancaster is neglecting his duties to play with the kids. Mr. Lancaster is a good father."
His words made Gabriel raise an eyebrow slightly.
'Is Jake mocking me?'
Gabriel wasn't afraid.
The tension between the two men ignited instantly. Sophia saw Emma being knocked down, and her heart tightened.
"Emma."
Sophia quickly ran over.
Emma got up by herself, patted the sand off her body, and then glared fiercely at the boy who had bumped into her.
"Apologize!"
The boy looked at her arrogantly. "You ran into me."
Ethan and Sam stood on either side of Emma.
Emma, full of authority, said, "Apologize quickly, or my two brothers and I will beat you up."
"Why are you so rude, always talking about hitting people?" The boy looked at her with disdain.
Emma's eyes widened. 'He actually called me rude!'
"You're the rude one. You did something wrong and won't admit it. You're a bad kid, and bad kids have no friends." Emma was so angry that her words were almost incoherent when shewaved her fist to hit him.
"Emma." Jake ran faster than Sophia, his long legs quickly bringing him over.
"Jake!" Emma was happy for a moment when she saw Jake, then felt aggrieved when she saw Gabriel. "Daddy, he bullied me."
Emma pointed at the boy to complain.
The boy looked confused. Emma was actually playing the victim!
It was hard to tell who bumped into whom. Sophia had been watching the children closely and saw clearly that the boy was walking with his head down while Emma was chasing Ethan and Sam. The two children collided, and Emma fell, landing on her butt.
"Does it hurt?" Gabriel asked gently.
Emma shook her head and said, "No."
Sophia said, "You both weren't watching where you were going. Just apologize to each other."
Emma pouted, unhappy.
But she listened to Sophia and reluctantly apologized to the boy, "Sorry."
The boy, who had been a bit flustered, calmed down. Since Emma apologized first, he naturally had to be a gentleman, especially since he was older than Emma.
"Sorry, I wasn't watching where I was going either. Are you hurt?"
Seeing the boy's sincere apology and concern for Emma, Emma quickly moved on from anger.
"I'm not hurt. Why are you here alone?"
Emma thought the boy looked quite handsome.
Sophia chuckled to herself. 'Emma is so adorable; her temper changes quickly.'
The boy pointed to the distance and said, "My mom is over there. She's calling me. I have to go."
"Goodbye."
"Goodbye."
The boy quickly ran off, and Emma happily resumed playing.
"Daddy, I want some juice."
Gabriel saw a drink stand not far away.
"Wait here, and I'll go buy some."
Gabriel went to buy drinks.
Jake asked the three children, "Do you want to play that?"
The three children followed his finger and saw people playing beach volleyball.
