Chapter 480 Didn't Know

David's still not back; he's got some stuff to handle and won't be home for a bit.

Only Colin came back to the country with Jennifer and Celeste.

When Sophia saw Patricia, she was shocked. 'Why's Patricia with the Blackwood family? Is that why the Brown Group bounced back? Patricia, acting all rich, even gave me a necklace worth a fortune. So, the Blackwoods are behind the Brown Group's comeback!'

"Grandma," Patricia called out to Celeste.

'Grandma?' Sophia was even more stunned. 'Why's Patricia calling Celeste grandma? Ella's not a Blackwood. What's going on?'

Sophia was confused.

"By the way, Patricia, let me introduce you. This is my goddaughter, Sophia. She's a bit older than you, so you can call her Sophia," Jennifer said.

Sophia smiled, about to speak, but Patricia cut her off.

"Sophia, hello." Patricia extended her hand like it was their first meeting.

Sophia smirked. She didn't want to make a scene in front of the Blackwoods, so she shook Patricia's hand.

Ruth was just as puzzled. Celeste was holding her hand and chatting, but she noticed Patricia nearby.

Ruth thought, 'How did Patricia Brown become Celeste's granddaughter? Isn't Sophia enough for Celeste? Why add Patricia?'

They went inside, put away their luggage, and Sophia got busy in the kitchen. Celeste played with the three kids, giving them gifts.

Patricia stood aside, hating the three kids. They were Sophia and Gabriel's. They should've died at birth, but here they were, alive and well.

The Blackwoods seemed to really like these kids.

And Sophia, how did she become the Blackwoods' goddaughter?

Ruth kept staring at Patricia, making her uneasy.

Patricia hid her trembling hands and said, "Grandma, Aunt, I'll help Sophia in the kitchen."

Celeste nodded, pleased with Patricia's thoughtfulness.

Patricia hurried to the kitchen.

As soon as she left, Ruth wanted to ask Celeste what was going on. She hadn't missed Patricia's guilty look.

Patricia must've done something wrong!

"Celeste, you..."

"Ruth, let me tell you about our trip back..."

But Celeste interrupted, talking about their trip.

Ruth sighed, thinking she'd ask later.

Sophia was cooking the last dish.

"Sophia, you didn't want to acknowledge the Brown family or be my sister. So in front of the Blackwoods, let's pretend we don't know each other."

Sophia smiled slightly.

This was the real Patricia, afraid Sophia would take advantage of her.

Like last time when Patricia wanted to rekindle their sisterhood, she must've been out of her mind.

Sophia ignored her and kept cooking.

Seeing Sophia silent, Patricia, worried she might say something, tugged at her clothes. "Did you hear me?"

Sophia poured the dish into boiling water, causing it to splash. A drop of hot water hit Patricia's hand.

Patricia screamed in pain.

Colin heard the noise and walked in. "What happened?"

Patricia, clutching her hand, said, "Colin, I got splashed by hot water."

Sophia glanced at her with a faint smile and kept cooking.

Colin looked at Sophia, who seemed fine, and frowned. "If you can't cook, just step out. Don't hold Sophie back."

Sophia smiled slightly and cooked with even more energy.

Patricia was furious. She got hurt, yet Colin didn't feel sorry for her and blamed her instead?

She stormed out of the kitchen.

Colin ignored Patricia's tantrum. To him, Sophia was in charge. Sophia didn't scream when splashed with hot water, but Patricia made a big fuss over a tiny splash.

Patricia was just being dramatic.

"Sophie, don't mind her. Patricia is a family member raised elsewhere. She's a bit spoiled."

'Patricia isn't Logan's daughter?' Sophia was even more confused.

"I understand." Sophia smiled at Colin.

The Blackwoods were very kind, almost like her own family. She didn't want to cause any conflict with Patricia that would make things difficult for them.

Soon, the last dish was ready, and all the food was served. Everyone gathered around the table.

Emma's chatter made Celeste very happy, and her spirits lifted considerably.

Patricia used to sit next to Celeste, but now Emma had taken her spot, with Ethan and Sam on Celeste's other side.

Seeing Celeste amused by Sophia's kids, Patricia felt very displeased.

She had to find a way to get Sophia away from the Blackwoods soon.

And she needed to inform Ella about this quickly.

Ruth noticed Patricia's troubled expression. When Patricia looked over, Ruth gave her a meaningful smile, making Patricia nervously avert her gaze.

After dinner, Sophia and Ruth took the three kids and left.

The three kids said goodbye to Celeste and Jennifer.

"Goodbye, Jennifer, Celeste."

"Goodbye," Celeste said, full of reluctance.

'If only our family had three such adorable kids. Then I could play with them every day.' Celeste's gaze fell on Colin, who immediately felt the pressure of being urged to marry and silently looked away.

Colin went downstairs to see Sophia and the three kids off.

Celeste and Jennifer sat in the living room, and Patricia brought out some fruit. "Grandma, Aunt, have some fruit after dinner."

Jennifer picked up a grape. "Patricia is so diligent."

Patricia shyly lowered her head.

Jennifer asked, "Patricia, you've met Sophie now. What do you think of her?"

"She's very nice and cooks really well."

Jennifer said, "She's not only a good cook but also very capable at work."

After a pause, Jennifer turned to Celeste and said, "With Fusion Dynamics Corporation relocating, many people didn't want to come to Country Z with us. We're currently very short-staffed. I've decided to recruit a few trainees domestically, including Sophie. Mom, what do you think?"

Celeste nodded. "That's a good idea. Let's do it."

Patricia's hand clenched quietly at her side.

"Patricia, you have no experience in the fashion industry. You'll need to learn a lot from Sophie."

Patricia obediently agreed.

Jennifer suddenly looked at Patricia's face.

"Aunt, is there something on my face?"

Jennifer shook her head with a smile. "No, I just noticed that you and Sophie look a bit alike. When you stand together, you look like real sisters."

Patricia's alarm bells went off. She quickly feigned surprise and said, "I did feel a sense of familiarity with her. Turns out we look alike. But now, we are like real sisters."

Celeste laughed happily. "Yes, you are real sisters now. You must help each other."

"Yes, I will," Patricia said, walking behind Celeste to massage her shoulders. Out of Celeste and Jennifer's sight, Patricia's smile vanished, replaced by a serious expression.
