Chapter 340 Deep Experience

"Mommy made a lot of delicious food," Sam happily gestured.

Gabriel smiled gently and picked up Sam. "Oh, can I have some?"

Sam nodded in agreement.

Sophia's eyes widened, quickly saying, "I didn't make that much food." The implication was that dinner was insufficient, so don't come.

Sophia was so unwelcoming that Gabriel couldn't really stay for dinner. But Gabriel said with a smile, "It's okay. I don't eat much."

Sophia gritted her teeth. "I put a lot of chili in the dishes, especially spicy."

"I've learned to eat spicy food," Gabriel added.

Emma, seeing the table full of food and her mom and Sam not coming over, shouted crisply, "Mom, come eat."

Gabriel refused to leave, and Sophia didn't want to force him out in front of the children. Besides, Sam was so happy, she didn't want to disappoint him. So Sophia advised herself in her heart to forget it; it was just one meal, and making the children happy was the most important thing.

Gabriel entered the dining room with Sam in his arms. Ethan and Emma saw him, Emma was very happy inside, while Ethan remained expressionless, showing no emotions.

Ruth smiled happily. "Let's eat."

The family being able to eat together made Ruth extremely happy. She thought that being able to see the family reunited in this lifetime was a fulfillment.

Sophia sat farthest from Gabriel and silently served soup to the children.

The children ate properly, with Ethan and Emma eating heartily but not rudely or causing a stir at the table. At most, Emma would share some interesting stories from kindergarten.

Sophia caught a glimpse of what Gabriel was doing from the corner of her eye, and her expression changed. "That's specially made for Sam."

Gabriel hesitated slightly in his actions and looked at Sam.

Sam blinked innocently, indicating that this time, he couldn't help Gabriel. To cater to Sam's taste, Sophia always made a milder dish separately for him.

Gabriel couldn't handle spicy food at all, but in order to stay, he lied that he had learned to eat spicy. Now, he couldn't possibly expose himself. So Gabriel reluctantly turned his fork to pick up the dishes with a lot of chili.

Emma saw Gabriel struggling with the spiciness and couldn't help but chuckle, covering her mouth. There was a hint of a smile in Ethan's eyes as well. Ruth was practically beaming.

As he put a piece of meat in his mouth, the spicy taste spread instantly. At that moment, Gabriel wanted to spit it out, but when he looked up and saw Sophia watching him, he forced himself to swallow it down.

"Delicious," Gabriel praised, then picked up a bowl of soup and gulped down a large portion.

Seeing Gabriel struggling with the spiciness even though he couldn't handle it, Sophia's mood suddenly lightened.

Sophia seemed to find something particularly amusing and put a piece of chili into Gabriel's bowl.

"Mr. Lancaster, you're always busy and probably don't have time to take care of yourself. I heard from Sam that you often have stomachaches, so eating more chili might help," Sophia said seriously, even caring enough to add a large forkful of grilled meat to Gabriel's bowl.

Gabriel was stunned. Looking at the green and red chili peppers and the grilled meat in his bowl, he felt his stomach burning.

This was the first time Sophia had ever served food to Gabriel. Gabriel smiled gently, his eyes full of tenderness as he looked at Sophia. "Thank you, it's so delicious; I'll definitely finish it."

With that, Gabriel picked up the chili and meat from the bowl, elegantly put it in his mouth, and chewed slowly.

Sam watched Gabriel eat the chili without blinking, thinking Gabriel was really amazing.

Sophia initially wanted to make things difficult for Gabriel. If he refused to eat, she would have a reason to ask him to leave. She had never thought that Gabriel actually ate it.

Had Gabriel really changed his taste?

Gabriel's mouth was already numb from the spiciness, but he remained composed, not even blushing. His lips were red as if he had applied lipstick.

After finishing what was in the bowl, Gabriel even picked up another piece of grilled meat and ate it with great enthusiasm.

After that, Sophia completely treated Gabriel as if he were invisible.

After dinner, Sophia cleaned up the tableware, and Gabriel stood up to help. Ethan and Sam also kindly wiped the table, and Emma took Ruth to the living room to watch TV.

"I'll wash the dishes." Gabriel rolled up his sleeves.

"No," Sophia said, then changed her mind.

Why couldn't Gabriel wash the dishes? He hadn't done anything, so he should wash them! With a cold face, Sophia left.

Gabriel looked at Sophia's retreating figure with a gentle expression and shook his head helplessly.

While washing the dishes, Gabriel's stomach was slightly aching, and his mouth still had a lingering spicy taste. He endured the discomfort, swiftly washed the tableware, and came out.

The children were watching TV with Ruth, and Sophia was tidying up clothes. Gabriel didn't want to leave yet. He looked around, realizing that all the furniture and decorations were personally chosen by him. The adjacent room was identical, but this side felt warmer and more like home.

Sophia put the clothes away in the closet, then came out and saw that Gabriel hadn't left yet. Irritatingly, she said, "Mr. Lancaster, aren't you busy?"

Gabriel replied, "Not really."

"It's getting late; shouldn't you be heading back?" Sophia added.

Gabriel glanced at the time; it was only a little after eight. But he didn't want to push it too far, in case he upset Sophia.

Gabriel stood up and said to the three children, "Do you want to stay tonight or come back with me?"

Emma said, "I want to sleep with Mom." Ethan seemed to want to stay with Sophia as well. Sam hesitated for a moment and decided to stay with Sophia.

So Gabriel took Ruth back next door. Ruth was tired and went to bed early.

"Gabriel, do you now understand how Sophia felt back then?" Ruth asked.

Gabriel smiled bitterly. "I deeply understand."

When Sophia liked Gabriel, she was kind to him in every way, trying to please him, but he refused to respond at all. Now that the roles were reversed, Gabriel realized how difficult it was for Sophia when he ignored her in every way.

Tiffany mechanically ate the food she had made. Her cooking wasn't delicious, but she had learned to cook in order to capture Gabriel's heart and stomach. But Gabriel didn't appreciate it and had never eaten any of Tiffany's dishes.

Tonight, Tiffany had made a lot of food for two people and set up utensils across from her. She hoped that one day, Gabriel would sit across from her and eat together.

The doorbell rang, bringing Tiffany back to reality.

Could it be Gabriel?

Tiffany got up excitedly to open the door, looking at the monitor outside and seeing Mason standing there.

The knocking continued, annoying Tiffany.
