Chapter 502 Check

Sophia gave Caroline a thumbs up. "Caroline, you're amazing. I'd be terrified if it were me."

Caroline blushed and smiled. "Honestly, I was really scared before the surgery. I almost backed out. But seeing that sick girl in so much pain, I couldn't bear it. So, I pushed through my fear."

Before deciding to donate, Caroline did some research. The family hadn't done anything wrong, and the girl was adopted. They never thought of giving up on her, which showed their kindness.

During Caroline's recovery, the family visited her daily, expressing their gratitude in various ways, making her feel a bit embarrassed.

At lunchtime, the Declan couple came over with a thermos lunch box again.

Today's meal was still recovery-friendly, including soup.

Sophia watched and felt relieved.

This family seemed genuinely grateful.

Declan's wife, smiling, opened the thermos and helped Caroline sit up.

Caroline took a sip of the soup and raised an eyebrow. "Today's soup tastes different."

Declan's wife immediately asked, "Is it not good?"

"No, it's better. Did you cook it longer?" Caroline wasn't much of a cook, but she could tell the soup was made with care.

Declan's wife then handed her some food. "Try this dish."

Caroline took a bite, and it was tastier than previous meals.

Declan's wife smiled. "This time, the soup and food weren't made by me."

Caroline was puzzled. 'Did they order from a restaurant?'

"This is my daughter's biological mother's cooking," Declan's wife said.

Caroline was even more puzzled. "Did she find her biological parents?"

Declan's wife didn't hide anything. After all, Caroline had saved their daughter's life.

"Yes, if Diana's biological parents hadn't come, we couldn't have afforded her treatment. Now, all the medical expenses are covered by them. Once she recovers, she'll probably go live with them." Declan's wife looked a bit sad.

They had raised Diana for over twenty years, treating her like their own daughter. But they couldn't deprive her of the chance to be with her biological parents.

Hearing this, Caroline felt a deep sense of envy. Diana was so lucky to be found by her parents after more than twenty years and to reunite with them.

Caroline, on the other hand, didn't know where her parents were or remember any of their features. When she was taken to the orphanage, she had no identification.

Most children in the orphanage were either abandoned or left without anyone to care for them after their parents died.

She must have been abandoned. Otherwise, she wouldn't have been without a name, and it was Lisa who eventually named her.

Caroline suppressed her envious feelings. She had thought about finding her biological parents in college, but with no clues, she had to give up and focus on her life and studies.

Caroline finished all the food and soup, clearly having a good appetite.

Declan's wife packed up the lunch box, and Declan pulled out a blank check.

Caroline was stunned. "What's this?"

Declan said, "This is a nutrition fee from Diana's biological parents. They wanted to thank you in person but thought you might not accept it, so they asked me to bring it. You can fill in the amount yourself."

Caroline took the check, confused, and when she saw "the Wolf Group" on it, she understood why they were hesitant.

Turns out Diana's biological parents were Daniel and Linda!

Caroline's feelings got complicated.

Seeing her accept the check, Declan felt relieved and left with the thermos.

Sophia walked over, glanced at the check, and asked, "What are you going to do with it?"

Caroline sneered. "I didn't expect the person I donated to was a Wolf."

Sophia frowned, "Do you regret it?"

"No." Caroline didn't regret it, but she felt a bit uneasy.

She didn't like the Wolfs, but after meeting Daniel a few times, she thought he was the only reasonable one in the family.

Even so, she didn't want to get too involved with them.

"So, this check..." Caroline said, "Sophia, what amount do you think I should fill in? Is the Wolf Group very wealthy?"

Since the Wolf family gave her a blank check, why not take it? She had paid a physical price, after all.

This was their way of repaying her, and by accepting the check, she wouldn't owe them anything.

Sophia agreed Caroline should accept the check, but the amount needed careful thought.

Caroline's eyes lit up, and she grabbed Sophia's hand. "Can you ask Ruth if she's willing to sell the house we're renting?"

Sophia immediately got her meaning.

She nodded. "Sure, no problem."

Caroline filled in an amount based on the house's market price and handed it to Sophia, asking her to cash it at the bank.

She wanted to cash it quickly to prevent the Wolf family from changing their minds.

Caroline made decisions swiftly and executed them quickly.

That afternoon, Sophia went to the bank to cash the check for Caroline and then asked Ruth about selling the house.

When Ruth heard about it, she scoffed at the Wolf family, "The Wolf family's eagerness to sever ties is really contemptible. I used to think Daniel was an upright person, but over the years, has he been blinded by business interests? To treat the person who saved his daughter with just some money is really something. Caroline is too honest to accept it so easily."

If it were her younger self, she would have caused a lot of trouble for the Wolf family.

Finally, Ruth added, "Let me tell you, the Wolf Group's assets are much more than they appear. You should have had Caroline fill in three billion dollars. Isn't Daniel's daughter worth three billion dollars?"

Sophia couldn't help but laugh. "But Caroline has already filled it in and asked me to cash it."

Ruth knocked Sophia on the head, "Why didn't you stop her?"

Sophia understood Caroline very well. Caroline just didn't want to get entangled with the Wolfs anymore. She just wanted to live a good life with Josie and Lisa.

Ruth agreed to sell the house and fully entrusted Sophia to handle the sale. Ruth even offered a discount, allowing Caroline to buy the house in full and still have some money left over.
