Chapter 729 Got Rid of It

Because the three children missed Gabriel so much, Sophia aimed the video at herself and Gabriel.

Hearing Sam's surprised voice, Sophia turned her head and met Gabriel's ocean-like eyes, deep with a touch of tenderness.

"You're awake," Sophia said with a sweet smile.

Gabriel nodded and reached out his hand.

Sophia immediately grasped his large hand, feeling the warmth in her palm.

Sophia first asked the doctor to check on him, and after confirming everything was fine, Gabriel connected with the children via video.

"Daddy, you need to get better soon," Emma said, crying.

"Okay, Daddy promises you."

After comforting the three children and ending the video call, Gabriel and Sophia's interlocked fingers tightened. He looked deeply at Sophia.

Sophia felt a bit embarrassed under his gaze.

"Why are you staring at me like that?"

"I really thought I was going to leave you forever."

They had been through many life-and-death situations, each one extremely dangerous.

Gabriel opened his arms, and Sophia slowly leaned in. He embraced her, deeply inhaling her scent.

They cherished each other even more in their hearts.

Gabriel had just woken up and was still very weak. After Sophia took care of him, giving him some water and a bit of food, he fell asleep again.

Alex came by once.

From Alex, Sophia learned more about what had happened in the past few days.

"Jake, how are you?" Victor walked in.

The room was filled with the smell of medicine.

Jake's face was pale, his upper body bare, and the wound on his chest was already bandaged.

The knife had almost pierced his heart.

Owen became highly alert upon seeing Victor.

Jake replied, "I'm fine."

"Gabriel isn't dead." Victor's previously concerned demeanor vanished, and his tone turned cold, "When did you become incapable of handling such a small matter?"

Jake lowered his head slightly and said nothing.

Owen's veins bulged.

His good brother Jake was nominally an adopted son and heir of the Getty family, but he was actually just a tool for Victor.

"Now the police are searching for you everywhere. You need to find someone to take the blame so you can escape."

Victor's gaze fell on the murderous Owen.

Jake noticed.

"No way!" He immediately refused.

Owen didn't quite understand the conversation between Victor and Jake. He thought finding someone to take the blame was the right choice.

Victor ignored Jake's wishes and directly asked Owen, "Owen, are you willing to take the blame for him?"

Owen finally understood.

He didn't get it. "Can't we just find someone random?"

Victor analyzed, "No, you previously messed with Gabriel's people and had a grudge with him. You taking Jake's place makes sense. The police won't believe it if it's someone else with no connection to Gabriel."

Owen thought about it and agreed.

In a moment of rashness, he agreed, "No problem, as long as I can help Jake."

"I don't agree," Jake said coldly.

Owen said, "It's okay. At most, I'll just be in there for a few days. I'm a big shot in the gang here; who would dare mess with me?"

Jake still didn't want to, but Owen had already decided to go above and beyond for Jake.

Unfortunately, Owen was too confident this time.

After Owen left, Jake looked at Victor.

"Where's Sophia?"

Victor's eyes flickered, but he didn't lie to Jake, "She fell into the sea."

Jake immediately got up from the bed, agitated.

"How did she fall into the sea? Did you have someone throw her overboard?"

In that instant, he was a bit broken, his eyes bloodshot, wanting to strangle Victor to avenge Sophia.

Victor calmly said, "Gabriel's people chased us onto the boat. When our people were evacuating with Sophia, she accidentally fell in the chaos."

"Now she's probably been eaten clean by the fish."

Jake fell heavily back onto the bed.

How could this happen!

His face grew even paler, his lips bloodless, his eyes filled with sorrow, and his heart ached so much he couldn't breathe.

At that moment, he regretted it.

He regretted his determination to own Sophia.

He had exposed his feelings for Sophia in front of Victor but couldn't protect her.

Jake glanced at Victor in terrifying hatred.

Victor stood there, not seeing Jake's look, and pretended to comfort him with fatherly love, "Mourn her loss. In that situation, if my people had gone down to save her, they would have died. They wanted to live, so they had to give up on Sophia."

"I've arranged a plane for you. You need to leave for Country Z immediately. Owen will handle the aftermath here."

After speaking, Victor sighed and left.

This time, Jake hadn't managed to kill Gabriel, and it wouldn't be easy next time.

Closing the door, Victor cursed, "Idiot, delaying your big plans for a woman like Sophia, utterly foolish!"

"Send some people to the coast to search for her. Bring her in dead or alive!" Jake suppressed the pain in his voice and ordered Micah.

Micah nodded, "Yes!"

That day, Jake took a private plane back to Country Z, while Owen voluntarily turned himself in, admitting he had lured Gabriel to the chemical plant to kill him.

To make it believable, Owen even stabbed himself in the chest.

Owen had already made connections to clear his name openly.

However, he was wrong.

This gang leader was taken down!

When Gabriel woke up again, it was completely dark outside. The quiet of the hospital contrasted sharply with the noise outside.

Sophia stayed by his bedside, not leaving for a moment.

"Are you hungry?" Sophia took out a thermos.

Gabriel nodded slightly.

Sophia opened the lid and fed Gabriel some porridge.

After eating, Gabriel felt more energetic.

"Gabriel, are you crazy? You weren't even sure I was at the chemical plant, yet you went." Sophia poked his chest with her finger.

Gabriel grabbed her finger.

"I wasn't crazy. At least I found out where you were."

Sophia was curious and asked, "How did you know I was on the boat?"

Such a hidden place, no one would have thought of it.

Gabriel went for her, even though it might have been a trap, he went alone.

"Jake showed me a photo of you."

"What photo?"

"It was a photo of you lying unconscious on a bed. It was taken at night, so I clearly saw a light outside the window in the photo. That light didn't look like the moon but like a lighthouse."

A place where you could see a lighthouse must be near the sea.

If it were on the coast, they would have found it in a thorough search.

But if it was floating on the sea, it wouldn't be certain.

So Gabriel deduced that Sophia was on a boat.

And he was right.

Sophia said softly, "What if you hadn't seen the photo?"

Gabriel gently rested his forehead on Sophia's shoulder.
