Chapter 415 Let's Talk
Gabriel planned to spend the day at Harbor Bay with the kids and Sophia, but Jake showed up unexpectedly and stuck around even after dinner.
Gabriel stepped outside and called Alex. "Cause some trouble for Micro Circuit Group," he ordered. Alex was surprised but agreed.
'Why is Gabriel suddenly targeting Micro Circuit Group? He's only been observing them before.'
Half an hour later, while Jake was playing games with the kids, his phone rang. He ignored it at first, but it rang again, sounding urgent. Ethan told him to answer it.
Jake apologized and took the call. Grant's voice came through. "Our guide system has a bug, and the chip we're developing has issues. You need to come back and check it out."
"Okay," Jake replied indifferently and hung up. He then said goodbye to Sophia and left quickly.
Gabriel's eyes darkened. So Jake was from Micro Circuit Group!
That evening, Gabriel stayed for dinner again. The food was light, just how he liked it. He wondered if Sophia and the kids had changed their tastes.
It was getting late, and Gabriel still hadn't left. Sophia finally told him, "Mr. Lancaster, the kids need to rest."
"I know," Gabriel said, switching the TV to the financial channel. Thunder rumbled outside. "It's going to rain heavily," he said, frowning. "The roads will be slippery. It's not safe for Alex to drive over now."
Sophia looked at him, feeling speechless. He might as well have just said he wanted to stay the night. She pointed to a room in the far corner of the first floor. "You can stay in that room tonight."
Gabriel smiled, "Okay." But when he checked the room, he looked disgusted. "This room is too small."
Sophia replied, "It used to be the maid's room. The other rooms are full of clutter. If you don't want to stay, you can go home." She then went upstairs to sleep with the kids.
Gabriel shook his head. Staying in the maid's room was better than being kicked out.
The next morning, Sophia took the kids to Lancaster Manor to visit Ruth. Gabriel had no choice but to follow.
Emma complained to Ruth, "Great-grandma, Daddy made Mommy let him stay the night."
Gabriel remained silent as Ruth scolded him with a smile. He thought to himself that if he wanted to win Sophia back, he had to be shameless.
Meanwhile, Mia had been in the police station for three days. Michael had brought a lawyer three times but still couldn't get her out. At least they got to see each other.
When Mia saw Michael, she couldn't even cry. She hadn't showered in three days, felt filthy, and her clothes were wrinkled and sticky. Her hair was a mess, making her look like a madwoman. When Michael saw her, a look of disdain flashed in his eyes.
Mia had been quite beautiful in her youth, but as she aged, her face grew harsher. Despite taking good care of herself, the past few days without rest had added wrinkles and even some gray hair.
"Honey, please get me out of here. I'm about to lose it," she pleaded.
"I want to, but Caroline won't settle. She's already going through legal procedures," Michael replied.
"What?" Mia screamed. "Go find Daniel, have him step in!"
Always Daniel. Every time something happened, they turned to Daniel, making Michael seem incompetent.
After all these years together, Mia knew everything about Michael, even what he had for his last meal. Seeing his constipated expression, she knew he was being stupid again.
This was not the time for stupidity!
Suppressing her anger, Mia carefully persuaded him, "Daisy is pregnant. I need to be by her side. If I'm sentenced, it won't be good for you or Daisy. Plus, I was framed by Caroline. She pushed Daisy, causing her to almost miscarry."
Finally, she lowered her voice and quickly said, "I already know Diana's whereabouts."
Michael's eyes widened in shock.
In the end, he agreed. After leaving the police station, he immediately went to find Daniel.
Meanwhile, Daisy took Linda to see Caroline.
"Aunt Linda, I don't dare to see her alone. I'm afraid she'll..." Daisy said, choking up.
Linda comforted her. "Don't be afraid. I'll go with you. She won't dare do anything."
Caroline was already sitting in the café, her face deflated but still with a faint bruise at the corner of her mouth. She sat there elegantly, slowly savoring her coffee.
About ten minutes later, the waiter brought Linda and Daisy over. Daisy's belly wasn't showing yet, but she pretended it was. Linda supported her as they walked carefully.
A look of mockery flickerd across Caroline's eyes.
As soon as Daisy arrived, she grabbed Caroline's hand and tried to kneel. "Caroline, I'm begging you, please let me and my mom go. I'm kneeling to you."
Caroline quickly stood up, knocking over her chair, and stepped aside. "Don't put on a show in front of me," she said coldly. "Daisy, I never provoked you. You came looking for trouble. Your mother humiliated and hit me without knowing the facts. Why should I forgive her? Just because I'm easy to bully?"
Daisy's face turned pale, and she swayed as Linda helped her up.
"What will it take for you to settle?" Linda asked, seeing Daisy's emotional state. She quickly helped Daisy sit down and frowned at Caroline.
Linda thought that after her last advice, Caroline would listen, but she was still entangled with Nicholas. She even almost caused Daisy to miscarry. Linda's impression of Caroline worsened.
Caroline said, "I see you're a reasonable person. I can sit down and talk with you, but please restrain her and don't let her slander me again."
Daisy was about to say something, but Linda quietly pressed her hand. "Okay, I'll talk to you. Tell me your conditions."
Linda's strong presence and sharp gaze fell on Caroline, making her feel the pressure of someone in a higher position. Caroline bit her lower lip and firmly said, "I want Josie. She is all I want."
