Chapter 735 Escaped

Ruth lay on the bed, looking weak, and opened her eyes when she heard a noise.

Seeing Sophia and Gabriel with sad faces, Ruth pretended to be strong.

"What are you two doing? I'm not going to die right away. I still have many days to live."

"Besides, I haven't seen you two get married yet."

Sophia forced a smile, "Grandma, you will live a long life."

"Life is too long," Ruth joked.

Gabriel stood silently by, watching Sophia talk to Ruth.

Gradually, Ruth grew tired and fell asleep.

Looking at Ruth's gaunt, wrinkled face, Gabriel suddenly realized that Ruth seemed even older.

His heart ached.

He felt guilty for not spending enough time with Ruth due to his busy work schedule.

Gabriel tucked Ruth in and left the room with Sophia.

They felt heavy-hearted.

"Gabriel, Grandma..."

"Grandma is old," Gabriel interrupted Sophia, his voice full of sadness, "Sophia, let's remarry."

Sophia looked at him with wide eyes.

Since deciding to reconcile and get back together, she had thought about remarrying, but she didn't expect it to happen so soon.

"Grandma's biggest wish is to see us remarry. She will be at peace if we are happy. I don't want her to have any regrets in her remaining days," Gabriel said. He held Sophia's hand and then knelt on one knee.

"Sophia, this proposal is a bit sudden. I'm sorry, but I'll get you the ring and flowers soon."

His eyes were full of sincerity and nervousness.

Sophia could feel the sweat in his palm.

"I was a jerk in our last marriage, but I won't be this time."

"I want to give you everything I have. From now on, you are my everything."

"Sophia, I love you. Will you marry me again?" Gabriel paused, nervously swallowing.

He felt his legs trembling.

Not far away, Betty and the three children were peeking at the scene.

"Why hasn't Mommy agreed to Daddy yet?" Emma was anxious to rush out and agree on Sophia's behalf.

Ethan covered her mouth.

Sam chuckled.

Betty smiled gently.

Sophia's mind went blank for a few seconds. This proposal was indeed too sudden, but Gabriel had already passed her test.

So...

"I will." Sophia agreed without any hesitation.

Gabriel looked at her in surprise, then stood up and lifted her, spinning around.

"Sophia, this is wonderful, Sophia."

At that moment, Gabriel's joy was indescribable, even with a whole dictionary of words.

"I'm getting dizzy," Sophia said weakly.

Gabriel quickly put her down, then excitedly cupped her face and kissed her.

Just after being spun around and then kissed, Sophia felt dizzy, but she was happy when feeling the gentle touch on her lips.

"They're kissing."

Ethan immediately covered Emma's eyes.

Betty quickly covered Ethan and Sam's eyes, her smile deepening.

Not far away, the servants were also quietly watching, and they also felt joyful.

A minute later, Sophia noticed the three children and Betty, as well as the servants, peeking at them.

Her face turned red, hot, and flushed.

The door to Ruth's room opened, and she came out looking energetic.

"Finally, you get some progress."

Sophia blinked in confusion.

Gabriel immediately realized it was another one of Ruth's schemes.

Ruth and Gabriel exchanged a glance, and Gabriel's lips curled into a smile.

The next moment, Sophia also realized.

"Grandma!"

Ruth chuckled, "I'm sorry, Sophia, don't be mad. I just wanted to see you two get married soon."

Sophia wouldn't blame Ruth. It was just that Ruth's trick had sped up the wedding plans.

Ruth wasn't actually ill; she had deliberately told the doctor to say so.

That afternoon, Gabriel quickly retrieved the custom-made diamond ring and proposed to Sophia again. After she agreed, he put the ring on her finger.

Gabriel's proposal quickly spread to the Blackwood family and then to Caroline.

Caroline looked at the photo of the diamond ring Sophia sent and she was envious.

"It's so beautiful!"

Sophia questioned, "Isn't Nicholas proposing yet?"

Caroline replied, "No rush."

She said that, but seeing Sophia so happy, she also began to look forward to Nicholas's proposal.

Nicholas's leg had improved with daily rehabilitation training, and he could now walk a short distance slowly, but it would take more time to walk normally.

Simon had said that the process was slow, and rushing it would only have perverse effects.

Ruth was very enthusiastic about Sophia and Gabriel's wedding and took charge of the preparations with Celeste. In the end, they decided to hold an engagement ceremony first.

David and Jennifer agreed, thinking that all the pre-wedding rituals were necessary.

So, the two families hurriedly prepared a simple engagement party, inviting only close friends and family, and celebrated at the Lancaster Manor.

"Mrs. Lancaster, someone sent a gift," a servant said, bringing a gift to Sophia.

Ruth had already instructed the servants to change the way they addressed her.

"Give it to me," Sophia said, taking the gift.

Today was her engagement party, and several friends from abroad, including Vincent, had sent gifts.

Vincent couldn't return to the country for now but had promised to attend her wedding.

Sophia thought this gift was from one of her friends and happily opened it.

It was a particularly beautiful dress, adorned with many diamonds that sparkled like stars.

It was clearly very valuable.

Sophia thought for a moment but couldn't think of any wealthy friends.

The only wealthy friend she had now was Caroline, but she had already received Caroline's gift.

There was no card in the box, and the sender hadn't sent her any message.

"Put it away for now," Sophia said, planning to ask around later.

In the president's office of Micro Circuit Group, there were a dozen empty bottles on the floor. Jake sat on the ground, looking dejected. He was holding a bottle of alcohol and taking a swig.

Even with all that alcohol, he couldn't numb his heart.

Jake's vision was blurry, and he shook his head.

At that moment, he wished he could drink himself to death.

If he died, would anyone be sad?

Probably not. He had nothing from the moment he was born!

The phone on the table rang again and again; it was all calls from Victor.

Victor was going crazy. The issue with the chip could no longer be hidden, and Vitelli had left the mess and run away.
