Chapter 418 Then Just Stayed Sick
The screech of brakes was deafening.
Two cars crashed, and Jake's car got shoved forward by a van.
Sophia's ears were ringing. She opened her eyes, shook her head, and the buzzing slowly faded.
She turned and saw Jake pass out .
"Jake?"
She quickly got out, ran to the driver's side, and opened the door.
"Jake, are you okay? Wake up."
Sophia tried to pull Jake out.
The van driver came to his senses, got out, and helped her carefully pull Jake out.
Jake's head was bleeding, and he was unconscious. Sophia grabbed the first aid kit and stopped the bleeding.
Ten minutes later, the police and ambulance arrived. Sophia followed the ambulance to the hospital.
Jake was taken to the ER. Sophia stood outside, trembling and pale, leaning against the wall.
The impact was on her side. She should've been the one inside. But Jake had turned the wheel, taking the hit himself.
She had minor injuries, but Jake's life was on the line.
Jake had saved her again, risking his life this time.
Sophia slid down the wall and sat on the ground.
"Jake, you have to be okay."
An hour later, Jake was wheeled out. Sophia got up, ignoring her numb legs, and grabbed the doctor.
"How is he?"
"Concussion. Luckily, he was brought in on time. He'll need a few days in the hospital for observation."
"Thank you, doctor."
Sophia sighed in relief and followed the nurse to Jake's room.
Finally, she felt calm enough to call the police.
The accident was investigated. The van driver had been driving for a day and night without rest, causing the crash due to fatigue.
The van driver wasn't seriously hurt.
Sophia stayed at the hospital, and half an hour later, Jake woke up.
He stared blankly at Sophia.
Sophia joked, "Are you dumbfounded?"
Jake forced a smile. "Yeah, I'm dumbfounded. Sophia, you have to take care of me for life."
Sophia's face turned serious. "Why did you take the hit? You could've died."
"I have an airbag. You have nothing. I didn't want to miss your cooking," Jake said, licking his lips.
Sophia poked his forehead.
"Alright, I'll handle your meals while you're here."
"Great, I get to eat delicious food every day again."
Sophia thought her cooking was simple, but Jake loved it. Even Colin and the Blackwood family enjoyed it.
Apart from looking pale, Jake seemed fine.
"Sophia, I don't have many friends here. I'll need you to take care of me for the next few days." Jake looked like a puppy, his eyes pleading.
"Got it. I'll go to your place to get some clothes and stuff."
Jake gave Sophia his house password.
"Get some rest."
"Okay," Jake said, closing his eyes.
As soon as Sophia left and the door closed, Jake opened his eyes and called his assistant, Grant.
This was Sophia's first time at Jake's place. Despite his warm personality, his home was decorated in a cold black-and-white style, even colder than Gabriel's room.
But Jake's wardrobe was full of trendy, colorful clothes.
Sophia packed some essentials and headed back to the hospital.
She couldn't go to work that day. By evening, she went back to Jake's place to cook some porridge.
"Mommy, what happened to your head?"
The three kids quickly noticed the band-aid on Sophia's forehead.
Sophia tried to cover it with her hair, but it was too obvious.
"I accidentally bumped into something," Sophia chuckled.
"Mommy is lying," Ethan immediately said.
"Really!"
"Mommy is lying," Emma echoed.
Sam nodded in agreement.
Sophia touched her hair in front of her forehead.
"I won't talk to you guys now. I need to cook."
She quickly slipped into the kitchen.
After making dinner for the kids, she didn't eat and left with a thermos.
"Mommy is acting so strange," Emma said, biting her utensils.
Ethan took out his iPad to investigate where Sophia went after dropping Caroline off at the airport.
He quickly found a clue.
There was a car accident on the only highway from the airport to the city today, and one of the cars was Jake's, with Sophia in it.
So, Sophia was in a car accident!
Ethan analyzed, "Mommy doesn't seem badly hurt, but Jake must be. Mommy just went to bring him food."
Emma immediately called Gabriel.
"Daddy, Mommy was in a car accident!"
On the plane, Josie was sleeping soundly in Caroline's arms. The plane was flying directly to the capital of Country M, but when it stopped over in Atronia, Caroline got off with Josie.
Josie groggily opened her eyes.
"Mommy." Josie's voice was soft and sweet, melting hearts.
"Yes, I'm here. Keep sleeping, Sweetheart. I'll wake you when we get home."
"Okay."
Josie lay back on Caroline's shoulder and fell asleep again.
Lisa asked in confusion, "Caroline, aren't we going to Country M?"
Caroline explained, "We're not going to Country M anymore. We're going to Country Y. I've already contacted a friend to meet us."
"Okay." Lisa pushed the wheelchair, which had a small luggage bag hanging on it.
Two hours later, at the capital airport of Country M, Aragorn's men, who were sent to pick up Caroline, only received her checked luggage.
Caroline herself was already in the airspace of Country Y.
Nicholas went to the hospital. Aragorn was lying in bed, pale, eyes closed, seemingly in pain, with his brows tightly furrowed.
Gummidge choked up, "Nicholas, your father..."
"Bad news, Mr. Watson. Ms. Clark took Josie and left the country."
Sharpe, holding his phone, had just received the news and rushed in to tell Nicholas.
In an instant, Nicholas exuded a frosty chill. He stared at Aragorn on the bed and said coldly, "Since you like being sick, then stay sick."
With that, he turned and left. The next moment, Aragorn opened his eyes.
"Bastard!"
Aragorn was so angry that he spat out a mouthful of blood.
