Chapter 68 Sam Falls Ill
Gabriel was busy late into the night, so he didn't return to the old house.
When he received a call from the old house, he was having breakfast with Tiffany.
Without any hesitation, he immediately set aside everything, grabbed the car keys, and rushed to the hospital.
Tiffany quickly followed suit.
"Gabe, don't panic. Sam will be fine," Tiffany said.
Gabriel was both worried and angry.
No one had noticed that Sam wasn't feeling well throughout the night, and it was only when Betty went to wake him up in the morning that they found Sam had fainted.
He was angry at the negligence of the people in the old house and frustrated with himself for not being a competent father.
His heart ached with anger.
He arrived at the hospital in a hurry, and Mrs. Lancaster was wiping her tears outside the emergency room.
When she saw her grandson, she immediately grabbed his hand.
"Don't worry, I'll go and ask about the situation," Gabriel said, suppressing his anger and comforting Madam gently.
He then strode into the emergency room.
The doctor was carefully asking Betty about Sam's recent diet, while Sam lay on the hospital bed.
His little face was as pale as paper, his eyebrows tightly furrowed, his eyes closed shut with thick eyelashes covering them.
The little boy seemed lifeless, causing an immense heartache.
"What's going on?" Gabriel appeared with a grim expression.
The doctor's face was serious as he said, "The preliminary diagnosis indicates it might be gastroenteritis."
"It seems there has been a sudden change in young master's diet, combined with excessive eating in the past few days. We suggest he stays in the hospital for observation for a few days and receive anti-inflammatory injections."
Sam has had a weak constitution since childhood, especially with his stomach and intestines.
Therefore, Gabriel had always been particular about his diet, making sure he chewed his food slowly and choosing his meals carefully.
Gabriel's face turned grim. He nodded and went to handle the hospitalization procedures himself.
Sam was then transferred to a VIP ward.
When he returned, Madam was by Sam's bedside, Betty stood nearby, and Tiffany was waiting for Gabriel at the door.
Seeing Gabriel's return, Tiffany quickly approached him.
"Sam needs someone to take care of him in the hospital. Let me stay and accompany him."
"It's not necessary. I'll do it myself."
Just the thought of the little guy enduring stomach pain all night without complaining, only to be discovered in the morning, made Gabriel feel immensely guilty.
No matter what, he had to stay with him in the hospital.
Tiffany clenched her fist. "Then let me accompany you. Sam is afraid of hospitals. With both of us here, he will feel more at ease."
This time, Gabriel didn't refuse.
Rather than rushing into the ward, Gabriel made a call to Alex.
"Check the food at the kindergarten in the past few days."
After entering the ward, Gabriel asked Betty about Sam's meals at home.
Betty repeated what she had told the doctor, "Recently, young master has been eating an extra bowl of rice every day. Madam and I thought it was just him growing up."
"The young master's appetite has improved. Who would have thought he would force himself to eat like that?"
Sam eats until his stomach is uncomfortable every day, but he doesn't complain.
Madam is heartbroken and tears stream down her face. "Sam has the same temperament as Sophia, too sensible. He endures everything to prevent us from worrying."
Just like when Sophia had postpartum depression years ago, she hid it from everyone until they found the diagnosis letter while sorting through her belongings.
Gabriel thinks of Sophia, who bristled at him whenever they met.
Sensible?
Grandma must have had a biased view of Sophia.
He actually wants Sam to be as strong as Sophia.
Soon, Alex sends the recent dietary records from the kindergarten.
The food at the kindergarten is fine, and the food at home is also fine.
So, did Sam eat something unclean while he was with Sophia yesterday?
Gabriel calls Alex.
Alex recalls yesterday's events and reports the name of the restaurant they went to and the dishes Sophia ordered.
"There's nothing wrong with the dishes. They were all light, but the young master ate like a wolf, maybe because he was too hungry."
Gabriel hangs up the phone just as Sam wakes up.
"My dear, does your stomach still hurt?"
Madam holds the little one's hand and asks with concern.
When Sam sees that it's Grandma, he gently shakes his head, indicating that he's not in pain anymore.
Madam's eyes water again, and she takes care of her great-grandchild for a while.
Gabriel walks over.
"Grandma, let Betty accompany you back first. I'll stay here."
Madam refuses to leave.
"I'll stay and keep Sam company."
"You're not in good health, and hospitals have many viruses that can easily cross-infect.”
Gabriel persuades her several times before the old lady is helped away by Betty.
Tiffany only dares to enter the ward after Madam leaves.
In fact, she's not afraid of Madam, but Gabriel is worried that Madam will get angry when she sees Tiffany.
He doesn't want any emotional fluctuations for the old lady at this time, so he asks Tiffany to stay away.
Tiffany feels very aggrieved, but she still puts on a generous appearance.
"Gabriel, why did Sam suddenly binge eat? Shouldn't we have Alfred come and have a look?" Tiffany suggests.
Gabriel hadn't thought about it before, but after Tiffany's reminder and considering Sam's recent behavior, he thinks it's necessary to have Alfred come and take a look.
The doctor also mentioned that sudden binge eating could be related to his mental state. ...
Sophia is participating in a new product launch.
Models wearing her designed clothes are showcasing them on the runway, with the camera flashes constantly flickering below.
Larry stands beside her, applauding excitedly. "Sophia, I think you've won this time."
Charlotte stares at the stage intently and suddenly feels that she, a mid-level designer, is not even comparable to a novice level and becomes very disappointed.
Margaret looked on with satisfaction as she saw the designs presented by Kathy Caroline.
Sophia's design was also very good, a dark horse.
The designs of the others were also acceptable.
Today was the product launch, and originally Gabriel was supposed to attend, but he had to stay at the hospital to accompany someone, so Harrison was temporarily brought in.
He sat next to Margaret and noticed Sophia not far away.
When the works were almost displayed, Harrison walked towards Sophia.
"I didn't expect you to be more than just a decorative pillow, there's some real talent in you after all," Harrison looked at Sophia with new respect.
Five years ago, his impression of Sophia was that she was only interested in Gabriel, nothing else, but a lovesick mind.
Sophia replied unfriendly, "Are you praising me or criticizing me?"
"Of course, it's a compliment!"
Harrison remembered something, "By the way, did Gabriel tell you that Sam is sick?"
"What?" Sophia turned her head excitedly and asked urgently, "What's wrong with Sam?"
"It seems to be gastroenteritis. He's hospitalized."
"Which hospital?"
Sophia couldn't sit still anymore.
After asking Harrison for the hospital room number, she hurriedly said goodbye to Margaret and left.
Sam was perfectly fine yesterday; how did he get sick today?
Sophia anxiously got into a taxi and urged the driver incessantly.
Half an hour later, she arrived at the ward and coincidentally overheard Tiffany and Gabriel talking.
