Chapter 26: Accessing Surveillance Footage

Tiffany never expected the craftiness of the old lady, and her face turned pale with anger. She hurriedly explained, "I didn't ruin their marriage, I..."
"Humph! The evidence is right there, no room for your excuses," Mrs. Lancaster interrupted.
Gabriel rubbed his temples and couldn't help but speak up. "Grandmother."
Mrs. Lancaster turned away, ignoring him. Gabriel could only tell Tiffany, "You should go back first."
"But Sam... Let me stay and take care of Sam," Tiffany said, pretending to be worried about Sam.
"Sam has me, you don't need to worry. Go back first."
Hearing Gabriel's unquestionable words, Tiffany felt dissatisfied. She had finally come to the old mansion, hoping to take care of Sam while he was sick. But this old lady openly and subtly despised her. For the sake of Madam, Gabriel could only force her to leave.
Tiffany walked out of the gate and glanced back when getting in the car. She muttered under her breath with a low voice, "Old hag, why won't you just die."
At such an old age, she should have lived long enough, but she just wouldn't die no matter how much she was hospitalized.
Only when the old lady died could Tiffany smoothly become the mistress of the Lancaster family and live in this mansion with dignity.
Gabriel didn't go back to the company. Instead, he had Alex bring some documents to the old mansion. In the evening, the servants finally found the set of clothes from the trash dump.
The clothes were already dirty, so Gabriel had them sent for cleaning. However, when Sam woke up at night and didn't see the clothes, he refused to take his medicine.
Gabriel had to ask someone to quickly dry them and bring them over. Seeing the clean and neat clothes appear in front of him, Sam obediently took his medicine and then pointed at the clothes, indicating that he wanted to wear them.
Helpless, Gabriel had the servants assist in changing him. The size of the clothes was just right, surprising Gabriel. How did Sophia know Sam's size.
He then thought about her profession. It was understandable that she could discern Sam's measurements.
"Are you satisfied now?" Gabriel asked as he watched his son looking at himself in the mirror.
Sam was still reminiscing inside. Was this the scent of Mommy? It was a feeling that he couldn't quite explain.
But that person was not his mommy. Thinking like this, it seemed like there was nothing particularly special.
He took off the clothes and had the servants put them away before lying back on the bed. Gabriel helplessly walked over. "Promise Daddy, you won't lock yourself away anymore."
Sam nodded obediently, feeling content.
"And, in the future, you have to tell Daddy about anything that happens. If you want something, tell Daddy too."
Sam did have something he wanted, hesitating whether to say it or not. Gabriel could see the hesitation in his eyes.
"Go on, tell me what you want."
Sam gestured, "I want a mommy."
Gabriel was momentarily stunned.
Sam had been able to speak since the beginning, and this was the first time he expressed such a desire.
Gabriel pursed his lips as he watched his son, Sam. Sam had always yearned for a mother, but he hadn't mentioned it since falling ill. He thought that Sam had given up. Gabriel also wanted to give his child a mother, but Sophia didn't deserve the role.
As for Tiffany... he hadn't married her yet, and it would be cruel to burden her with the responsibility of being a mother right now.
However, Gabriel couldn't currently marry Tiffany due to his situation. His mysterious illness couldn't be cured, and marrying Tiffany would only hinder her.
"You can temporarily consider Aunt Gu as your mother,"
Gabriel suggested. But he knew that besides Tiffany, he wouldn't be able to find anyone else.
Sam suddenly shook his head and gestured,
"I don't want a mother anymore." Gabriel wasn't surprised by his son's change of heart.
Alfred had mentioned that Sam would desire a mother but also resent her for leaving him. It was why he would sometimes want a mother and sometimes not. Gabriel reassured him, "If you don't want one, then don't."
Little did Gabriel know that deep down, Sam still longed to have his own mother. He simply didn't want Tiffany to be his mother.
Unfortunately, the adults misunderstood him. Gabriel tucked Sam in, preparing for him to sleep, when he suddenly remembered something Sophia had mentioned.
He looked at his son's clear eyes and softly asked, "Has anyone been bullying you at school?" Sam's gaze flickered for a moment, and then he shook his head, indicating that no one had been bullying him.
"That's good. Be a good boy and make some friends. You'll have someone to play with in the future," Gabriel said gently.
Sam obediently nodded. Once his son had fallen asleep, Gabriel quietly left the room and returned to his study. Rather than immediately tending to his work, he made a call to Alex and asked him to retrieve the recent surveillance footage from the kindergarten.
However, Alex reported that the surveillance was broken and the recent data couldn't be recovered or fixed. It was too much of a coincidence. Gabriel instructed, "Do whatever it takes to restore the data."
Alex replied, "Yes."
...
On Monday, as soon as Gabriel arrived at the company, the Chief Designer of the Fashion Department approached him and handed over three resumes.
Gabriel quickly skimmed through them, pausing when he reached the last one, his eyebrows slightly raised.
The Chief Designer immediately spoke up, "Scarlett is a designer from the company you recently acquired in Country M. She made a big impression at the fashion week two days ago, but for some reason, she didn't attend the event. The company then announced that they had terminated her contract."
"Boss, her design style is exactly what we've been looking for. I found out that she's in the country now. We can invite her to join the company for our new product rescue plan."
Gabriel hadn't seen Sophia's designs yet. When he saw her alive in a foreign country, he couldn't think of anything else. Now, noticing that his Chief Designer highly recommended Sophia, he finally paid attention to her designs.
"Show me the video of the fashion week," he said in a deep voice.
Margaret took out her phone and played the video. According to the music Scarlett is playing, she timely said, "The next set is Starry Sea design."
Sure enough, when the next song of Scarlett music started, the clothes designed by Sophia were showcased by models.
After Gabriel looked at them, he put down Sophia's information.
"First contact the other two, regardless of their requests, try to agree as much as possible."
A trace of doubt flashed across Margaret's face. Does the boss not want Scarlett?
In her opinion, out of these three designers, she had the highest hopes for Scarlett. However, she couldn't question the boss's decision and could only comply.
But she had other thoughts in her mind.
...
Sophia's resume was sent out, and immediately a headhunting company contacted her. After sending the two children to kindergarten on Monday, she prepared her materials at home and planned to go for an interview at one of the companies in the afternoon.
However, at noon, the teacher called frantically.
"Mrs. Sophia, both Ethan and Emma are missing."
Sophia's face turned pale, and her heart trembled with a sudden chill. She hurriedly rushed to the kindergarten.
And at this moment, Ethan and Emma had successfully infiltrated the Golden Eagle Kindergarten where Sam was.
Ethan found the place where they were taking a nap, and the teacher was holding her phone at the door, immersed in watching a video.
Ethan gave Emma a signal.
Emma successfully received it, and the next second she screamed, "Ouch!"
