Chapter 505 Two-faced
Gabriel raised an eyebrow, puzzled by how Sophia and Patricia suddenly got along.
Sophia gave him a reassuring look and headed for the driver's seat. "I'll drive."
Patricia hesitated. She didn't trust Sophia's driving but saw a chance to chat with Gabriel. She was secretly pleased.
Gabriel sat in the passenger seat, eyes on Sophia.
On the way, Patricia chatted non-stop with Gabriel. He didn't respond, and she didn't notice they weren't heading to The Blackwood Villa.
By the time Patricia realized, the car had stopped.
"We're here. Get out," Sophia said with a sly smile.
Patricia was about to get out but noticed it was pitch black outside. They were in the middle of nowhere, not The Blackwood Villa.
No streetlights, just darkness.
A sense of dread hit Patricia. "Sophia, you're messing with me!"
She glared at Sophia.
Sophia tapped the steering wheel. "I gave you a ride, and you blame me? Be reasonable, Patricia."
"But I'm not home yet!" Patricia snapped.
Sophia added, "If you don't get out, I'll take you to Ridge Hill with the wild wolves."
Patricia's eyes widened. "You wouldn't dare!"
Sophia said casually, "Watch me!"
Patricia was scared. If Sophia took her to a wild place, she'd be helpless.
Sophia snapped, "Hurry up and get out."
"Gabriel, look at her!" Patricia cried.
Gabriel spoke coldly, "It's late, Ms. Brown. You should get out."
He was actually letting Sophia leave Patricia in the dark.
Patricia's heart sank.
She was forced to get out.
As soon as the door closed, Sophia sped away.
A chill hit Patricia, and she hugged herself, trembling. As the car disappeared, she grew more terrified.
The moon was hidden by clouds, no streetlights, just tall grass and trees.
It was the season; leaves had fallen, flowers and grass withered.
Patricia turned on her phone's flashlight and realized this dark road led to The Brown Villa.
She stood still, biting her lip, wishing she could strangle Sophia.
This road was her childhood nightmare!
There was a cemetery nearby, and as a child, she had wandered into it, cried her eyes out, and fallen ill.
The memory still haunted her.
Patricia muttered prayers as she quickly walked towards The Brown Villa, holding her phone up.
It was about a mile to The Brown Villa.
Suddenly, a cold wind blew, rustling the branches. Patricia screamed and started running but tripped and fell. "Help!"
She twisted her ankle and couldn't get up. The strange noises around her scared her to tears.
In the car, Sophia was in a good mood.
She had been feeling down at Fusion Dynamics Corporation lately.
It was a pity she couldn't see Patricia's terrified face.
It took away some of the fun.
That night, Sophia slept soundly, but the next morning, she got a call from Celeste.
Celeste's voice was flat. "Sophie, come to the hospital."
"What's wrong?" Sophia asked, worried.
"It's not me, it's Patricia. She's hurt."
Sophia frowned.
On the way to the hospital, she mentally prepared herself.
At the ward door, she could hear Patricia crying. "Grandma, it hurts so much. Is my foot crippled? Will I never stand again?"
Celeste comforted her gently, "No, the doctor said you didn't hurt your bones. The swelling and bruising will go down in a few days. It's just a sprain, nothing serious."
"Grandma, I was so scared last night."
"Don't be afraid, I'm here."
Sophia knocked on the door, speechless.
"Come in."
Sophia walked in.
Celeste looked at her with a complicated expression.
She had liked Sophia a lot before, admiring her hard work, but now she had doubts.
'Maybe Sophia knew I was the head of Fusion Dynamics Corporation all along. Maybe she got close to me and the Blackwoods on purpose, winning our affection. She even got my son and daughter-in-law to adopt her, letting her enter Fusion Dynamics Corporation smoothly. Is she really just a career woman with no ambitions for the company?' Celeste wondered but didn't show it.
Celeste spoke calmly, "Patricia sprained her ankle on her way home last night and had nightmares all night. Sophie, don't you think you owe us an explanation?"
Sophia blinked innocently. "She asked for a ride, so we gave her one. Near The Brown Villa, she said she wanted to walk, so I let her out there."
"You're lying!" Patricia cried, tears streaming down her face. "You forced me out of the car. I've been learning from you, but I can't seem to get it right. You must be annoyed with me, so you taught me a lesson by making me get out in that place, and I got hurt."
Patricia's eyes were red and swollen from crying, making Celeste's heart ache.
Sophia sighed, "Ever since you were a kid, you've always liked to take my things and oppose me, but I still taught you design without holding a grudge. Celeste asked me to take you to the classical fashion show competition, and I agreed. I work overtime until ten every night, guiding you with all my heart, and now you accuse me."
As she spoke, Sophia's eyes reddened.
Patricia could cry, and so could she. Tit for tat, let's see who won.
Patricia panicked at Sophia's first words, but as she listened to the rest, she was infuriated. "You're lying! You barely taught me anything, just made me draw on my own. When I asked you questions, you were impatient and always dragged it out until late."
Sophia looked aggrieved. "You can't slander me just because the office didn't have time to install cameras."
She wiped her tears, looking heartbroken and fragile. "If you don't want me to teach you, then I won't. Celeste, I'm sorry, I can't fulfill the mission you gave me."
