The next day, Sophia went to the hospital where Gabriel had his check-up, and asked the director for Gabriel's medical report.
After reading it, Sophia asked, "Can his illness be controlled with medication for now?"

It was already midnight in Country M. Gabriel was still busy, and Alex was in the hospital room. Seeing Sophia's call, he stepped outside to answer.
Sophia asked, "Alex, what's really going on with the Lancaster Group?"
Alex evaded, "Just an economic crisis, it's been resolved."
"Stop lying to me. I already know about Gabriel's condition. And what happened with Harrison over there?" Sophia's voice was very stern.

Jennifer had noticed all day that Sophia was distracted.
At four in the afternoon, Jennifer called Sophia into her office.

Sophia's questioning made Gabriel nervous, wanting to ask for forgiveness.

Sophia said, "Gabriel, I know you're very capable, and you can handle many things on your own, but have you ever thought that you have me by your side? I can fight with you."
"You want to protect the family, and so do I. Ethan, Sam, and Emma are my children too. Grandma has been so good to me; she's already like my own grandmother in my heart."
"You're not suffering from an ordinary illness; it's one that could worsen at any moment. Do you understand the consequences?"
As Sophia spoke, her tears started to fall.
The atmosphere suddenly became quiet. Neither Sophia nor Gabriel spoke. Gabriel held the phone tightly to his ear, faintly hearing her rapid breathing due to agitation.
After a long while, Gabriel finally spoke, "I was wrong. I won't hide anything from you anymore."
Sophia didn't want to talk to him and was about to hang up.
Gabriel's voice lowered, sounding pitiful, "It really hurts."
Sophia's heart softened, and she didn't hang up.
She said irritably, "Take a painkiller."
Gabriel replied, "I took one, but it didn't help."
"Then bear with it!"
"I can't, it hurts too much."
"What do you want?"
"I miss you."
Sophia's anger vanished instantly.
