Chapter 638 Familiarity
The ward was just Gabriel and Sophia now.
Things got awkward and super quiet all of a sudden.
A few minutes later, Gabriel looked like he wanted to say something but hesitated.
Sophia noticed and asked, "What's up?"
Gabriel struggled a bit and finally said, "I need to go to the bathroom."
"I'll help you."
This wasn't the first time Sophia had taken care of Gabriel. Last time, when he got hurt protecting her, she was there for him too.
With no one else around, Sophia stepped up to help Gabriel out of bed.
As soon as Gabriel stood up, he felt dizzy and half his weight leaned on Sophia.
Sophia almost lost her balance but managed to hold him up.
"You okay?"
Gabriel's body tensed up a bit. This felt all too familiar.
"Yeah, I'm good."
"Alright, let's go." Sophia guided him forward.
"Watch out, there's a chair here. Move a bit to the right, yeah, that's it."
Even her voice felt familiar, making Gabriel feel like he was back in that moment.
Sophia helped him step by step into the bathroom and got him to sit on the toilet.
"Call me when you're done."
"Okay."
Sophia stepped out.
Gabriel reached out to stand up and fumbled around to lift the toilet lid.
As he did, memories from back then flooded his mind.
He thought, 'Why does Sophia taking care of me now, after my vision impairment, feel like a déjà vu?'
"Are you done?"
After more than ten minutes without hearing from Gabriel, Sophia got worried he might've fainted and called out.
"Yeah, I'm done," Gabriel's hoarse voice replied.
Sophia came in and slowly helped him back to the hospital bed.
The room went quiet again.
Gabriel's dry lips moved like he wanted to say something. Just then, the door burst open, and three kids rushed in, heading straight to Gabriel's bedside.
"Daddy."
The three kids looked at Gabriel with concern.
Emma, looking really worried, held one of Gabriel's fingers.
"Daddy, does it hurt?"
Gabriel reassured them, "No, it doesn't hurt."
He reached out to touch the kids' heads but accidentally touched Emma's cheek.
Emma asked, "Daddy, what's wrong with your eyes?"
Ethan and Sam also noticed Gabriel's eyes.
"Daddy, are you blind?"
Gabriel stayed silent for a moment, feeling a bit down.
"No, I'm just temporarily visually impaired. Daddy will be fine in a few days."
Emma sighed in relief and hugged Gabriel's hand.
"Daddy, you need to get better soon."
Emma's soft, cute voice warmed Gabriel's heart.
Ethan and Sam also held onto Gabriel's other hand, like they were giving him their energy.
At that moment, Gabriel felt the warmth of family deeply.
He had his kids, but he still needed to win over his wife, Sophia.
In the afternoon, after Harrison arrived, Sophia took the kids back home.
Harrison told Gabriel about what Tiffany had the nurse do in the middle of the night. Gabriel's face turned dark upon hearing it.
Harrison found it a bit scary to look at him.
If it were him being schemed against by Tiffany, he'd be furious and want to get rid of her too.
Gabriel said, "Let the local police handle it."
Harrison knew Gabriel wanted to teach Tiffany a lesson.
Soon, the police went to the hotel. At that time, Tiffany was doing a live stream. The police had the hotel staff open the door and rushed in, arresting Tiffany in front of all her online viewers and fans!
This unexpected live stream incident blew up online, but Tiffany herself was still clueless.
She got taken into custody without any explanation. Even when her team brought in a lawyer, he just shook his head and left after figuring out what was going on.
Tiffany was stuck with no help from anyone inside.
After 24 hours, she was on the edge of breaking down.
In a foreign country, even though she had studied here, it was her first time in a police station.
"Visiting time is over."
With a rough reminder from the police, Tiffany's team had to leave.
Tiffany reminded them, "Remember to find Gabriel; he can save me."
"Okay, don't worry, we'll go find him now," Tiffany's assistant, Lenora Reed, responded.
After leaving, Lenora and the photographer headed to the hospital to find Gabriel.
But they couldn't even get past the hospital gate.
The bodyguard stopped them at the entrance.
"We're Tiffany's assistant and photographer. We were sent by Tiffany to find Mr. Lancaster. Please help us pass the message."
The bodyguard stood there, not moving an inch, looking down at them.
"Mr. Lancaster has instructed that anyone or anything related to Tiffany is not allowed in."
"What? But Tiffany is still in the police station."
The bodyguard ignored them and kept standing there, expressionless.
Lenora and the photographer tried to force their way in, but the bodyguard was quick and tossed them out like rag dolls.
They had no choice but to go back to the police station to see Tiffany, only to be told that visits were not allowed during the investigation.
Gabriel's vision was getting better every day, and he was starting to see clearly again.
That evening, Sophia came to bring him food. The three kids had visited Gabriel during the day, so they didn't come with Sophia.
Sophia set out the food and handed him the utensils.
Gabriel didn't take them.
"I still can't see clearly."
"Didn't the doctor say you were getting better?" Sophia asked, puzzled.
Gabriel said, "I just got a bit blurry again."
Looking at his innocent expression, Sophia wondered if he was really pretending and just wanted her to feed him.
This scene was so familiar. When she saved him and took care of him in the hospital, he couldn't see clearly either. She couldn't remember why, but he had upset her, so she made him eat by himself.

"Open your mouth."
Gabriel obediently opened his mouth.
Sophia stuffed a spoonful of food in.
Gabriel's mouth hurt from being stuffed.
Sophia smiled, "Come on, open your mouth."
Gabriel mumbled, "I haven't finished with it."
Sophia didn't care if he had finished the food in his mouth and scooped another spoonful to stuff in.
"Another bite."
Gabriel almost choked as he swallowed, and Sophia's next spoonful of food was already coming.
She moved very quickly, not waiting for Gabriel to chew before feeding him again.
But this scene was just like when the woman who saved him was angry and fed him in the same way.
Under Sophia's rapid feeding, Gabriel quickly finished eating.
Gabriel swallowed the last bite of food, his mouth aching from how Sophia had shoved the food in.
