Chapter 87 My Mommy Became Your Mommy
To Sam, Ethan was like a superhero at this moment, protecting his little brother with his small arm. The determination on his young face would put many adults to shame. Holding his brother’s hand, Ethan led him away from the dreadful place. The two of them carefully avoided the security cameras and finally hailed a taxi.
Meanwhile, Tiffany was still pretentiously searching alongside the staff members at the amusement park. Ethan looked at Sam’s pale face and hugged him gently. “Don’t be afraid, I am here” he said.
Sam inexplicably felt at ease, thinking that Ethan was amazing, just like the heroes people often talked about.
Halfway there, Ethan felt his wrist vibrating. He looked at it and gulped, realizing the situation was bad.
He had disappeared from the hospital, and his teacher must be worried. No doubt she had called Mommy.
Hesitantly, Ethan answered the phone.
"Mommy~"
Sophia's serious voice came through, "Where are you?"
"Mommy, I hate hospitals. I'm already home."
"Are you feeling unwell?" Sophia wondered in her mind why the child seemed to always have health issues after returning to the country. Was it due to the change in environment?
"I'm all better now. It was just a stomachache. The teacher insisted on taking me to the hospital." Sorry, teacher, for making you feel responsible.
"Stay at home and behave yourself. No more running around."
"I know, Mommy. Don't worry, Mommy *kisses*."
Ethan hung up the phone, immediately feeling relieved.
Sam looked at him enviously. He really envied Ethan for having a mommy to spoil him. He didn't have one, and he didn't dare to act spoiled with his daddy either.
When they arrived, Ethan led Sam out of the car.
Sam curiously glanced around, feeling insecure in this unfamiliar place. Subconsciously, he hid behind Ethan.
"Let's go," Ethan said, tightly holding his little brother's hand.
"Where are we?" Sam struggled to ask.
Ethan's eyes widened in delight, "Are you willing to talk to us now?"
Previously, Sam would only address him and Emma by their names. No matter how hard Ethan and Emma tried, he refused to utter another word. But today, not only did he say his plea for help, he also spoke more.
"Hmm," Sam nodded heavily.
He had completely opened his heart to Ethan and Emma.
Ethan happily pulled Sam into the residential area and introduced, "This is our home."
When he said "our," he meant to include Sam as well, but Sam subconsciously thought Ethan was referring to his and Emma's home.
Sam was thrilled to be able to visit Ethan and Emma's home. He was no longer afraid.
"We live in this building, on the tenth floor," Ethan said as they walked inside.
The homes here were far from luxurious like his daddy's and didn't have his daddy's spacious apartment, but they looked warm.
Ethan entered the password, the door opened, and Sam looked around curiously with wide eyes. Then, he realized it was impolite and quickly averted his gaze.
Ethan came out with a pair of small yellow duck slippers for Sam. These slippers were prepared by Mommy, as she must have had plans to bring Sam home, so she bought an extra pair when she bought slippers for him and Emma last time. Mommy would definitely be thrilled if she knew he brought Sam home.
Sam looked at the cute, fluffy slippers and then saw that Ethan was also wearing the same pair. A slight smile appeared at the corner of his mouth as he swiftly swapped his shoes.
"This is our home, Emma's and mine. You can consider it your home too," Ethan greeted Sam.
The little guy ran to bring out all the snacks Emma had hidden and went to the fridge to get some drinks.
It was Sam's first time visiting someone else's home, and he was a bit restrained, curious about everything, yet hesitant to touch anything.
"This is our room. Have a snack for now. Mommy will come back after work and make us something delicious," Ethan turned on the TV to show Sam some cartoons.
Just like when they visited Sam's home to play, Sam also wanted to show them what he thought tasted the best and what was the most fun.
Ethan also wanted Sam to have more fun, especially after Sam had just been frightened when locked in the storage room.
Sam whispered, "I won't eat. Let Emma have these snacks."
Ethan replied, "These snacks are Emma's. If she were home, she would definitely share them with you."
Emma always wanted to spoil her little brother and would bring out the special treats.
And Sam also wanted to save the good things for his sister, Emma. Moreover, he did not really enjoy eating snacks. Ethan did not insist and he asked: “Do you want to take a tour of mine and Emma’s bedroom?
"Okay." Sam replied
Sophia bought a three-bedroom house, with a master bedroom, a study, and Ethan and Emma's room. Ethan didn't want to be separated, so for now, they all stayed together in one room with bunk beds.
But Ethan never wanted to sleep in his own room and usually ran over to Sophia's side to sleep next to her.
Sophia always wanted the two children to sleep independently, but she eventually succumbed to their pleading eyes.
"Let me tell you, my mommy's bed is very big. Emma and I sleep with Mommy. Even if another person comes, there's still enough space for you," Ethan said.
"Me?" Sam was puzzled.
"Yes, you can treat my mommy as your mommy. If you are willing to come and stay at our house in the future, you can sleep with my mommy. She's really nice. When Emma kicks off the blanket in the middle of the night, Mommy will wake up and cover her again."
"Emma kicks off the blanket?"
"Yes, and she also sleep talks," Ethan whispered, revealing Emma's embarrassing secrets.
Sam imagined his sister kicking off the blanket and sleep-talking, finding it adorable, and couldn't help but smile.
Ethan continued to share more of Emma's secrets and their funny experiences with Mommy, and Sam listened with great interest, unknowingly yearning for such a family dynamic.
Emma got off the school bus and dashed into the residential area, eagerly rushing inside and kicking off her shoes.
"Ethan, are you back?" she called out.
Ethan and Sam emerged from the room.
"Sam, are you okay?" Emma rushed over anxiously, scrutinizing Sam up and down, holding his hand.
Sam shook his head. "I'm fine, and by the way, I'm the older brother."
"Oh, you're willing to talk to us now?" Emma automatically ignored his correction and happily clapped her hands. "That's great! From now on, we won't have any barriers in our conversations."
"I'll only talk to you and Ethan," Sam said with a serious expression on his little face.
"Yes, yes, we'll keep it a secret for you," Emma assured him.
Later, Emma learned that Sam had been locked in a storage room by a wicked woman, and in anger, she punched the doll beside her.
"How could your dad let that bad woman take you out? He's so inconsiderate," Emma's impression of the despicable father worsened.
If it weren't for his dad's indulgence, how would that bad woman dare to treat Sam like this.
