Chapter 701 Marriage Alliance

Paul gave Christina a puzzled look. Paul thought, 'Why do I feel that her gaze towards me was strange?'

Nicholas received a call from Paul and learned that Trevor's surgery was successful, so he didn't go to the hospital to visit.

Caroline also returned to the Wolf Mansion.

The next morning, Simon arrived at the Wolf Mansion, and Caroline warmly welcomed him.

Simon waved his hand, "Where's the patient?"

Lisa, looking pale, came out of the room with the help of a servant. She had been feeling increasingly weak lately, and it was no use going to the hospital.

"Simon, please take a look at her," Caroline said anxiously.

Linda also looked on eagerly.

Lisa was Caroline's adoptive mother. Despite their meticulous care, Lisa's health was deteriorating day by day.

Simon carefully took Lisa's pulse.

After just two seconds, Simon's brow furrowed, and his expression became serious.

"Switch hands."

Lisa offered her other hand for Simon to check.

After a while, Simon withdrew his hand, looking even more grave.

Caroline's heart sank, and she asked, "Simon, how is she?"

"Give me all her medical records."

Caroline quickly found the records and handed them to Simon.

Ten minutes later, Simon said solemnly, "During the previous surgeries, some cancer cells spread to other areas. No matter how we treat it now, it's hopeless."

"What!" Caroline was devastated and sat there in a daze.

Lisa had been prepared for this result. She knew her body well and had felt that her life was close to the end even before the surgery. The surgery had only extended her life a bit.

At that time, her biggest concern was Caroline and Josie. Now that Caroline had found her biological parents and her own happiness, Lisa had no more worries. So when she first felt unwell, she chose to hide it.

Until now, Lisa couldn't hide it any longer and followed Caroline's wish to let Simon check her pulse.

Simon said, "The patient should maintain a good mood. Besides these two medications, she doesn't need to take any others. Taking too many will have side effects and hasten her death."

Simon pointed to two specific anti-cancer drugs.

Caroline hadn't recovered from the shock of the bad news.

Linda, also worried, asked, "Is there really no other way? Can't we manage it somehow?"

Simon replied, "Her body is severely weak now. Any medication will either speed up her death or have no effect."

Seeing everyone's sorrowful silence, Lisa smiled.

"You don't need to be sad for me. I've lived to this age and I am already very satisfied. Honestly, every time I go for chemotherapy, it's very painful. I don't want to go through that anymore. It's better this way."

"Anyway, I won't die immediately. I still have time. I want Caroline and Josie to accompany me on a trip."

Lisa, with a good attitude, comforted them instead.

Simon said appreciatively, "That's right. Maintaining a good mood is most important when you're sick. You never know, a miracle might happen."

Due to chemotherapy, Lisa had lost much of her graying hair and wore a hat every day. She barely held up her spirit.

Caroline threw herself into Lisa's arms and cried bitterly.

Linda also quietly wiped away her tears.

Caroline cried hard and then saw Simon off.

"Lisa, where do you want to go? I'll go with you," Caroline said, holding Lisa's arm and leaning on her shoulder.

Lisa thought for a moment, "Let's go to City H."

She was originally born in City H. Due to a difficult family situation, she left home early and later dedicated herself to the orphanage, never marrying or having children.

Now, before leaving this world, she wanted to visit her hometown and see Saskia.

"Okay, we'll leave for City H tomorrow."

Lisa patted her hand, "No rush. Prepare well."

"Okay."

Linda thought for a moment, "I'll go with you."

Caroline had been abducted in City H and she suffered greatly, almost losing her life. She was afraid of that place.

So Linda didn't want Caroline to accompany Lisa alone; she felt more at ease going with them.

Moreover, she was also concerned about Lisa's health.

Caroline immediately took leave from school and texted Nicholas in the evening.

Nicholas replied instantly, "I'll go with you."

Caroline asked, "Aren't you busy?"

Nicholas replied, "No."

In fact, he was very busy, working until late every night, but he was worried about Caroline so he had to be by her side to feel at ease.

Under Aragorn's supervision, the Watson Group's stock price had stabilized, and the Wolf Group had suddenly stopped making any moves.

Aragorn breathed a sigh of relief.

The Watson family had completely broken up with the Wolf family.

But he didn't know if Caroline still liked Nicholas. Did they break up?

Aragorn thought that if they had really broken up, it would be a pity.

However, they loved each other so much back then; they shouldn't break up easily.

Aragorn sat in his office, pondering with a serious expression. At this point, he could only completely give up the Wolf family.

There were many wealthy families in City B; he could find another noble family for an alliance.

Although Aragorn came to the company every day, he never saw Nicholas.

Every time he was there, Nicholas was out for business. Only when he left did Nicholas return.

Nicholas was deliberately avoiding meeting Aragorn.

Today was no exception. After Aragorn left, Nicholas returned to the company, and Paul was waiting in the office.

"Nicholas, bad news," Paul said anxiously, "Your dad is arranging another marriage alliance for you with a wealthy family."

Nicholas didn't care. "I'm leaving for City H this afternoon. The duration is uncertain. Keep an eye on the company, and call me if necessary."

Paul asked, "Why are you going to City H?"

"Lisa is sick. She wants to visit City H."

Paul immediately understood.

Nicholas gave a few instructions. The new company's ribbon-cutting ceremony had been successfully completed, and all work was on track with no issues for now. However, there were still many matters at the Watson Group.

Paul undertook everything and asked, "Nicholas, if your dad really arranges another marriage alliance for you, how do you plan to deal with it this time?"

Nicholas replied, "He is no longer my dad. He has no right to interfere in my marriage."

He then added, "I have already removed my name from the family tree."

Paul wasn't surprised but still commented, "This time, he got his eyes on the Mitchell family."

Nicholas turned his wheelchair and left without saying anything.

No matter which family Aragorn wanted to ally with, it had nothing to do with him.

Paul remained silent. He knew that Aragon only cared about power and interests.

Despite the strained relationship with Nicholas, Aragorn still wanted to interfere in Nicholas's marriage.
