Chapter 541 Exposed

Celeste gave David a quick nod, letting him know she was good.

Only then did David turn his attention back to Ella.

"Spill it. What's Sophia's deal? And how's she tied to your Browns?"

Ella felt like she was choking, her face going pale. She stuttered, barely able to get a word out.

Logan suddenly yelled, "You guys came looking for family and found us. You messed up, not us! Just 'cause your Blackwoods are big shots doesn't mean you can push us around."

Colin was floored; he couldn't believe how shameless they were.

"When we found the Browns, you said my aunt Susan had a daughter named Patricia. If it weren't for your fake paternity test, we wouldn't have messed up!"

Logan was left speechless. The three of them huddled together, looking guilty.

'Everything was going so well, so why did our plan fall apart in the end?' they wondered.

"Colin, hand me the reports," David ordered.

Colin opened the sealed bag he was holding, pulled out the first paternity report, and tossed it at Logan.

"This is the new test we did. Patricia's got no blood relation to our Blackwoods!"

The Browns were hit like a ton of bricks. Logan instinctively caught the report.

Then, Colin pulled out another report and handed it to Celeste.

"Grandma, this is the test I did with Sophia's hair. Check it out."

Celeste was a bit shaky. Her hands, warmed by Sophia, still trembled as she reached for the report, her heart pounding.

She skipped the complicated data and went straight to the final result.

Celeste's eyes widened in shock. After a couple of seconds, the report slipped from her hand. She looked at Sophia, tears welling up.

With trembling hands, she hugged Sophia tightly.

"Sophia, my granddaughter, you really are my granddaughter, Sophia," Celeste sobbed.

She clung to Sophia like she was afraid she'd vanish.

Sophia felt a bit uncomfortable from Celeste's tight hug.

Moved by Celeste's love, Sophia's eyes filled with tears too. She smiled and gently patted Celeste's back, comforting her.

Ruth, standing nearby, quietly wiped away her own tears.

Finally, Celeste had found her real granddaughter.

Seeing Celeste cry like that, Ruth was deeply touched.

David looked at Sophia with immense warmth. As the truth came out, he even felt a bit proud.

He'd always thought his sister Susan's daughter couldn't be as useless as Patricia.

Watching this emotional scene, Patricia felt like a thousand knives were stabbing her heart.

Just an hour ago, she was still the beloved granddaughter of the Blackwoods, the one Celeste adored the most.

In a flash, that person had become Sophia.

Patricia couldn't handle it.

"No, Sophia's not a Blackwood," Patricia suddenly snapped, grabbing the report from the floor and tearing it to shreds. She threw the pieces into the air, and they fell like snowflakes.

David and Colin quickly stepped in front of Celeste and Sophia, shielding them.

Patricia's bloodshot eyes glared at Sophia.

"It's you, you ruined my relationship with Grandma!"

"I ain't your grandma, Miss Brown. Show some respect!" Celeste's raspy but firm voice cut through the tension.

Patricia's face twisted. "No, you are my grandma."

She tried to rush forward to hug Celeste and plead, but David and Colin blocked her solidly. In the scuffle, Colin shoved Patricia to the ground.

"Patricia!" Ella screamed.

Logan roared, "Don't push it too far!"

Right then, a bunch of cops burst in.

David shot the trio a disdainful look.

"Officers, these are the folks involved in bribery and fraud!"

The cops immediately took control of Logan, Ella, and Patricia.

Patricia lost it, thrashing and screaming as the police dragged her away.

Logan's face went pale. They couldn't argue anymore. The two paternity tests were solid proof, slamming them with reality.

After the police left, Colin shut the door and came back.

With the Browns out of the picture, the living room's vibe instantly lightened up.

Ruth clapped her hands. "Awesome, Celeste, your family's finally back together. We gotta celebrate tonight."

Celeste wiped her tears, feeling a mix of excitement and relief. She kept nodding at Ruth. "Absolutely, we must celebrate."

She held Sophia's hand again, looking at her face, and tears fell once more.

"Please don't cry," Sophia tried to help wipe away the tears, but Celeste wouldn't let go, like she was scared Sophia might disappear.

"It's okay, I'm just so happy."

Though hurt and angry from Patricia's deceit, Celeste found comfort and immense joy in discovering her real granddaughter, Sophia.

She touched Sophia's face again.

"No wonder I felt a connection the first time I saw you. I was so blind not to see it sooner. Instead, I got duped by Patricia for so long, almost..." Celeste choked up again. "I almost pushed you away because of Patricia."

Thinking of the crap she went through at Fusion Dynamics Corporation, Sophia felt a surge of anger. But after the competition incident, Celeste and Jennifer had stood by her, soothing her anger and making her feel grateful.

After all, Celeste had been tricked by Patricia.

Celeste was right to protect her granddaughter.

The real villain was Patricia, and the Browns.

Sophia never expected her mom had such a mysterious background, that she was actually Celeste's daughter, a member of the Blackwoods.

Turns out she had family in this world.

If her mom knew in heaven that she wasn't alone anymore, she'd be so happy.

Sophia blinked, and tears finally fell.

"Mom, I messed up too." David knelt in front of Celeste, full of guilt. "I should've noticed something was off sooner."

Colin also knelt down, placing his hand on Celeste's hand that was holding Sophia's. "Grandma, I'm sorry. I didn't dig deep enough in my investigation, giving the Browns a chance."

Ruth laughed. "This ain't the time for self-blame. Why are you all apologizing? The Browns are the ones to blame, and it's about time they faced the music!"

David echoed, "Yeah, Aunt Ruth, we couldn't have done it without you."

"If you wanna thank me, just love Sophia more from now on. Give her the best. Let me tell you, Sophia had a rough time with the Browns."
