Chapter 746 Are You Willing

Linda slightly patted Clayton's head.

"Where did you run off to on New Year's Eve?"

Clayton pouted unhappily, holding his head.

"I had important business to handle."

"What important business could you possibly have? You're always goofing around."

Clayton retorted, "I'm really motivated now."

He had been learning to play instruments well and had even formed a band with some friends. They performed at a bar every week and had gained a group of fans.

But to Daniel and Linda, all these activities seemed like a waste of time, so he didn't bother telling them.

Clayton turned around to play with Josie.

Josie, being a bit silly, laughed happily as Clayton teased her.

Linda sighed, pulling Caroline aside.

"What's going to happen to the company with Clayton like this?"

"Your passion is also in the violin. Both your dad and I have been fighting in the business world, so how did we end up with kids like you and Clayton who only love music?"

Linda felt a bit frustrated.

Before Caroline could say anything, Linda continued, "Never mind, your dad's health is still good. He can keep working for a few more years."

"If you ever get tired of playing music, you can come back and inherit the family assets."

Caroline remained silent.

Caroline wondered, 'Is listening to your mom nag on New Year's Eve a nationwide tradition?'
This year was Caroline's first time celebrating New Year's at the Wolf Mansion, her first New Year's after finding her biological parents. At the dinner table, everyone was quite emotional.

Even Clayton showed a rare touch of sentimentality, holding his wine glass.

"Happy New Year, Caroline. From now on, we will gather together every New Year's Eve," Clayton said, his eyes filled with tears and genuine sincerity.

Caroline smiled lightly and clinked her glass with his.

"Alright."

Clayton downed his drink in one go.

Daniel felt very gratified; the relationship between Caroline and Clayton was getting better and better.

At this moment, Nicholas also raised his glass.

"Uncle Daniel, Aunt Linda, Happy New Year."

Daniel and Linda cheerfully raised their glasses.

Josie rolled his eyes.

"Grandpa, Grandma, Mom, Dad, Uncle, Happy New Year." She raised her own glass, imitating the adults, making everyone burst into laughter.

After dinner, Daniel and Linda brought out gifts for the kids.

Clayton carried out a box full of various fireworks, and Josie pulled Caroline outside to play.

To set the mood, the yard was decorated with many ornaments, creating a festive atmosphere.

Caroline hadn't played fireworks in a long time. She and Josie drew circles in the air with fireworks.

Clayton had disappeared at some point.

Only Caroline and Josie left in the yard.

Caroline didn't mind and took out various fireworks from the box to play with Josie.

Suddenly, a brilliant firework exploded in the sky.

Caroline and Josie were captivated.

A series of fireworks continued to bloom in the sky.

"Mom, it's so beautiful," Josie exclaimed.

Caroline nodded, feeling a strange sensation in her heart.

A large array of fireworks, colorful and dazzling, seemed to be set off near the mansion.

After another large firework bloomed, words suddenly appeared in the sky.

Caroline was stunned.

Countless drones formed the words in mid-air, "Caroline, Happy New Year."

Josie exclaimed in surprise, "Dad!"

Caroline turned around to see Nicholas's tall figure emerging from the darkness. He had changed into a white suit and was holding a bouquet of flowers, walking slowly but steadily towards her.

His leg hadn't fully recovered, but he could manage this short walk.

Nicholas's handsome face showed a hint of nervousness, his lips slightly curved, and his eyes shining brighter than the fireworks.

"Caroline." Nicholas stopped in front of Caroline, his gaze intense, and suddenly knelt on one knee.

Caroline almost reached out to help him.

"I'm so glad you're still willing to accept me," Nicholas said deeply.

Josie obediently stepped aside, leaving space for Caroline and Nicholas.

Clayton had told her to give Caroline and Nicholas more space so they could give her a little brother or sister.

She had promised Emma that if Caroline had a sister, Emma would be the second sister, and she would be the eldest.

Caroline had a fluttering heart and wondered, 'Is Nicholas finally proposing?'

"From the moment I first saw you, I knew you were the one. Caroline, I want you to be my wife for the rest of my life. I only want to grow old with you."

A drone flew to Nicholas, and he took the ring from it, looking at Caroline with utmost seriousness.

"Miss Clark, would you be willing to spend the rest of your life with Mr. Watson?"

"Would you give Mr. Watson a chance to respect, cherish, and love you?"

"Would you let Mr. Watson always be by your side, to be the father of your children?"

Tears welled up in Caroline's eyes, and she clenched the hem of her dress.

She had been waiting for this moment for a long time, often fantasizing about how Nicholas would propose.

She had thought of fireworks and drones.

Though it wasn't particularly original, it was still the happiest moment of her life.

Caroline took a deep breath and said the words, "I will!"

Nicholas's smile widened.

As Caroline extended her hand, he slipped the ring onto her delicate finger.

Caroline helped him up.

"Kiss her!" Paul suddenly appeared, cheering along with Clayton.

Daniel and Linda also approached, smiling broadly.

Caroline shyly lowered her head.

The drones in the sky formed the words, "Caroline, I love you."

Nicholas kissed Caroline on the forehead.

"Congratulations to Nicholas and Caroline for finding true love," Paul shouted excitedly, more thrilled than if he were proposing himself.

Fireworks bloomed again.

Nicholas held Caroline close, Josie was lifted by Clayton, and Linda held Daniel's arm. They all looked up, happily watching the fireworks.

Paul watched for a while, then turned to see this scene and felt a bit down.

It seemed he was the only one single.

Wait!

Paul, with a stern face, rushed over and took Josie from Clayton.

"Josie, let me hold you."

Clayton was still in the posture of holding Josie, and then looked at Paul resentfully.

In contrast to the lively and joyful atmosphere here, the Watson Manor was unusually quiet.

Ashley and Gummidge sat in the living room watching TV after dinner, but neither was really paying attention, and they had little to say.

After a long time, Gummidge glanced at the clock on the wall.

"Where's Paul?" she asked in a hoarse voice.

"Paul went to help Nicholas' proposal."

Gummidge pressed her lips together and said no more.

Since Aragorn's death, Gummidge had lost a lot of weight and had become even more silent.

After a long while, Gummidge got up to go to her room to rest.

"Let me know when Nicholas gets married."

Ashley agreed.

Gummidge went to her room but didn't go to bed immediately. Instead, she went into the walk-in closet and found a small box from a cabinet.
