Chapter 28: Let's Talk

Sophia questioned with confusion, "Who are you?"
"I am Margaret, the Chief Designer of Lancaster's Fashion Department..." replied Margaret.
Half an hour later, Sophia met Margaret in a café next to the Lancaster building.
They talked and enjoyed each other's company. Sophia knew that this was Lancaster extending an olive branch to her.
"Miss Kelly, you can name your conditions freely." Margaret got straight to the point.
"I need to think about this." Sophia didn't want to join Lancaster and become Gabriel's employee.
She found it distasteful to work for Gabriel, but she also couldn't reject Margaret directly.
Margaret felt slightly disappointed and took a sip of her coffee before saying,
"I understand. I'll wait for good news from you."
"Alright."
After a while, Sophia prepared to bid farewell. Before leaving, she told Margaret, "By the way, I'm now going by the name Sophia."
She had changed her name when she was handling the paperwork in her home country.
Since she had decided to stay, she didn't want to go by another name anymore. She wanted to face her past.
As Sophia passed by the entrance of the Lancaster building, she stopped and looked inside.
If it weren't Gabriel's territory, she would have eagerly gone in. Unfortunately... Sophia shook her head gently, lifted her bag, and walked away.
At that moment, a group of well-trained bodyguards appeared at the entrance, blocking Sophia's way.
A car stopped there, waiting for its owner.
Afterwards, accompanied by a group of attendants, Gabriel appeared within sight. He was like an emperor, surrounded by loyal subjects. Emitting an aura of royalty, his handsome face wore a slight frown, seemingly displeased.
Alex stood by his side, opening the car door before him. However, Gabriel caught sight of Sophia standing to the side. He paused for a moment, then walked over.
"What are you doing here?" Gabriel's voice was icy cold.
Sophia replied mockingly, "The road is under my feet. I can go wherever I want. What's it to you?"
"Do you have to talk to me like this?" Gabriel's mood was already bad, and being provoked by her made him even more irritated.
"Yes, I will never treat you with kindness in this lifetime."
"Hmph, being unreasonable." Gabriel turned around, silently scolding himself for unnecessarily engaging with her.
He could have completely ignored her, yet he allowed himself to be provoked.
"You're the shameless one."
Sophia couldn't stand Gabriel's attitude the most.
"You!" Gabriel clenched his fist momentarily before letting go. Not bothering to deal with her, Gabriel turned around to leave.
"Gabriel, let's talk."
Suddenly hearing Sophia's words, Gabriel's movements stiffened, and he smirked, "Talk? Do you have the qualifications?"
Sophia bit her lip.
"Regarding Sam, I want to talk to you seriously."
"I don't have time." He raised his leg and walked away. In a moment of desperation, Sophia grabbed his large hand.
"Ten minutes, okay, five minutes, without delaying your profit."
Her hand was icy cold, meeting his warmth, like the collision of ice and fire, the sensation stimulating her brain.
Sophia quickly let go of his hand. After ten seconds, Gabriel coldly dropped two words, "Get in."
He put his hand behind him and pinched it. Strange, when Sophia touched his hand, his restless heart unexpectedly felt a bit relieved.
Gabriel sat in the back, Sophia sat next to him, Alex sat in the passenger seat with a calm expression.
Sophia nervously clenched her hands and fighting with Gabriel for Sam was like seeking skin from a tiger, but she had to try.
After a while, she finally organized her thoughts.
"I want to take care of Sam. If Sam's autism is caused by the lack of a mother, then I have a responsibility and obligation to take care of him, to cure him."
"Huh," Gabriel sneered, "You can abandon him if you want to, take care of him if you want to, Sophia, are you dreaming?"
"I didn't abandon him," Sophia denied vehemently. If she had known Sam was alive, she would have definitely taken him away no matter the cost.
She took a deep breath, "You also want Sam to get better as soon as possible, right? Let me take care of him, I can certainly take good care of him. Sam has no friends in kindergarten, he's too lonely."
Thinking of that small figure, Sophia's voice unintentionally choked up. Gabriel's hands paused for a split second while typing on the keyboard, still refusing, "It's not possible!"
Sophia tightly bit her lower lip and looked down at her knee.
After a while, she slowly spoke again,
"Then you can't stop me from seeing him anymore. You can rest assured, for the sake of his condition, I won't easily reveal our relationship, I just want to spend more time with him, give him a little more love, let him know that there is someone in this world who loves him."
This was the first time in five years that she spoke so calmly to Gabriel. For the sake of her son, she could endure anything.
"I'll consider it."
The car came to a stop, Sophia opened the car door and got out, then kicked the departing car ferociously.
"You bastard, wait until I snatch Sam back, then you'll see."
In the car, Alex couldn't help but ask, "Boss, Miss Kelly doesn't seem to have intentionally abandoned the young master."
Gabriel pursed his lips and remained silent. Alex touched his nose, these two people were like oil and water now, he better not speak up for Sophia.
Upon arriving at the research base, Gabriel reviewed the latest experimental data and held a meeting. When he left, the receptionist respectfully called out, "Mr. Lancaster, please take care."
Gabriel suddenly stopped and turned around, heading towards the beautiful receptionist at the front desk.
The receptionist saw the handsome boss walking towards her and instantly felt elated, her face turning red.
Wow, he's getting closer. Even closer now. Could it be that the boss has taken a fancy to her?
When the distance shortened to less than one meter, Gabriel suddenly stopped, his brows furrowing tightly as an uncontrollable restlessness surged within him.
"Boss," Alex followed along, puzzled. Gabriel turned around abruptly, almost colliding with him.
Gabriel remained silent with a stern face, and simply walked away. No, there was nothing good about it at all!
But why didn't Gabriel feel as restless when Sophia sat in the car with him today?
On the way back, Gabriel pondered over this question. Thinking back to the five years of interaction with Sophia, every time Sophia infuriated him to no end, so he didn't notice this before.
Today, he was calm enough and wasn't provoked by Sophia. Could his peculiar illness be related to Sophia?
Did Sophia poison him before her fake death, Gabriel negated this thought. He believed that Sophia didn't have the ability to do so, and there was no such poison in this world.
Back at the company, Tiffany greeted him. She intimately hugged Gabriel's arm, and that familiar irritation surged within him. Subconsciously, he pushed her away.
Tiffany's face flashed with confusion.
"Gabriel, what's wrong with you?"
