Chapter 101 Staying at the Same Hotel
Sam blinked his eyes, appearing to understand yet not quite understanding.
"In the future, you should continue pretending to be sick, but you don't need to do it in front of my mommy. My mommy really likes you and won't harm you," Ethan continued to advise like an older brother.
"Okay!"
Sam also quite liked Aunt Kelly. He treasured the drawings she made for him and the bracelet she gave him.
"But what about my dad..." His dad didn't know about his pretending to be sick, and his dad was still very worried about him. To ease his dad's worries, he now took his medicine every day without fail.
"Don't tell your dad. In the future, you can secretly meet my mommy, and you can also come to my house to play."
Suddenly, Sam had a thought and quickly said to Ethan, "Let's not go to school tomorrow. You and Emma can come to my house to play. My grandma really likes you both."
Ethan didn't immediately agree, but instead asked, "Is your dad at home?"
Sam didn't know why they were afraid of his dad. He felt a little disappointed and said, "I don't know either."
Lately, his dad had been staying at the old mansion every day. Although he would sometimes be busy on weekends, he would always come back early to accompany him and Grandma.
He couldn't understand, "Why are you all so scared of meeting my dad? He's a good person. I'm sure you'll like him once you meet him."
Emma chimed in, "Because he's with a bad woman, that's why we don't like him."
Sam wanted to say some good things about his dad, but his two little friends were already speaking up for him. It warmed Sam's heart.
The three cute little kids made plans to meet up on the weekend.
On the first day of Mommy's business trip, Sam missed her.
At Godfather's house, the two little ones couldn't fall asleep. After the lights were turned off, they huddled together and chatted quietly.
Over on Sophia's side, as soon as she got off the plane, without even putting her luggage down, she hurriedly went to the factory to start working.
She remained busy until it was dark before finally calling it a day.
The production manager walked up to Sophia and said, "Miss Kelly, let's go have dinner first. I'll treat you."
Sophia checked the time and politely declined, saying, "I'd like to go back to the hotel first. Let's eat together another day."
"Alright, do you have a car? The buses have probably stopped running by now, so I can drive you to the hotel," the production manager suggested.
The factory was located in the outskirts, and the buses usually stopped running at 5:30 pm. There was no subway either, but the factory provided shuttle buses that would only start heading to the city center after all the workers finished their shifts at 9:30 pm.
"Thank you, but you're busy too. I don't want to trouble you. I'll take a taxi myself."
"It's not easy to get a taxi around here."
Sophia felt uncomfortable getting too close to someone she had just met and was still unfamiliar with, so she politely declined the manager's offer.
"Well then, be careful. Let me know if you can't find a taxi," the production manager didn't insist.
"Okay, thank you."
Sophia packed up her belongings and left the factory. At the entrance, she opened the ride-hailing app on her phone but found that there were no available cars nearby.
She noticed that most of the workers lived in the factory and some even had their own cars to commute between the city center and their homes.
Daytime in City D was different from City B.
The temperature was high, but it still felt a bit chilly in the evening. Due to the heat during the day, Sophia dressed lightly. Now standing at the door, she felt both cold and hungry, quite pitiful.
How about... going back to the cafeteria to eat something and wait for the factory shuttle at 9:30?
While she was hesitating, a low-key and luxurious car stopped in front of her. The window rolled down, revealing a handsome face that resembled a piece of art. In his indifferent eyes, there was still a trace of surprise that hadn't dissipated.
"What are you doing here?" Gabriel asked in a deep voice.
"On a business trip," Sophia replied coldly.
She didn't expect to encounter him in such a remote corner.
What bad luck!
Gabriel glanced at the luggage by her feet.
"Are you going back to the hotel?"
Isn't that obvious? Sophia couldn't be bothered to respond and looked down at her toes.
"Get in the car," he commanded.
"No need." She had already made up her mind to go back to the factory, have dinner, and wait for the shuttle.
Gabriel, however, got out of the car and without saying a word, took her suitcase and tossed it into the trunk.
"I said no need," Sophia attempted to retrieve her suitcase, but Gabriel was quicker and closed the trunk.
"It's up to you whether you get in the car or not."
With these words, Gabriel left her no choice but to join him in the driver's seat.
If only he could give her the suitcase back!
Sophia felt frustrated, rolled her eyes, and cursed Gabriel under her breath. Nevertheless, she got into the car because, after all, it wasn't a bad idea to command Gabriel as her driver.
Thinking this way, Sophia felt a little better.
Gabriel had no intention to discuss her refusal to sit in the passenger seat any further.
The hotel assigned by the company was the best in the city center. Upon arriving at the hotel entrance, a valet opened the car door. As Sophia got out of the car, she noticed that Gabriel also alighted.
Could it be that this guy wants to accompany her upstairs?
"Don't you have something else to do!" Sophia immediately spoke coldly.
Isn't the CEO busy enough?
Gabriel ignored her and, after handing the car keys to the valet, walked into the hotel lobby without a word.
Sophia followed him and saw him taking out his identification card to check-in, realizing that he was also staying here.
What rotten luck!
To think that they would end up in the same hotel!
The atmosphere between the two was strange. Sophia queued up behind him, and only after he completed the process and obtained the room key did she present her identification card at the front desk.
Gabriel didn't wait for her but went straight upstairs.
Sophia arrived at the elevator and saw it stopping at a higher floor. Looking at her own room key, she realized that there was quite a difference in levels.
According to Sophia's position in the company, a business suite was booked for her. After taking a shower and while waiting for takeout, she called her two darlings.
The two little ones eagerly expressed their longing, and Sophia gently reassured them.
After talking for half an hour, she hung up once the takeout arrived.
That night, Sophia didn't sleep particularly well.
She wondered if it was because Gabriel was also in the same hotel, but she...
Dreamt of five years ago.
She was full of hope, expecting Gabriel to return home and accompany her through childbirth, but in the end, all she got was Gabriel's divorce statement.
And those threatening messages.
Each one was destroying her willpower.
Everyone was telling her that her persistent love would not yield results.
And as it turned out, they were right.
Waking up in the early morning, Sophia's forehead was covered in tiny beads of sweat. She took deep breaths, and the lingering fear in her heart took a long time to dissipate. She reached up and covered her face with both hands.
After freshening up, she had breakfast delivered to her room.
Using an app on her phone, Sophia rented a car and packed her belongings before heading downstairs.
Tonight, she didn't want to stay here anymore.
So, as soon as the administrative department began their work, Sophia made a call to request assistance in finding another hotel.
The administrative staff hesitated and said, "We can't arrange that. Our company has a partnership with the Emerald Hotel. If you don't want to stay here, you can choose another hotel at your own expense."
