Chapter 219 The Serpent, Lying in Wait
Two days later, Madam Blackwood's condition stabilized, and she was discharged from the hospital.
They were to return to M Country the next day, so Sophia prepared some local specialties for them to take with them.
Originally, Jade was not eager to go to M Country to meet the other members of the Blackwood family so soon, but her mother persuaded her earnestly.
"You must be silly; the Blackwood family is very wealthy. With their help, your father's company could be revived and even expand its production."
"Your father has checked; the Blackwood family is incredibly influential in M Country. They were also a top-tier wealthy family domestically. If you join the Blackwood family, you will have everything you want."
"Stay there for a year or so, then come back as a member of the Blackwood family. Are you still worried that Gabriel doesn’t fancy you?"
The last sentence hit Jade's heart.
She immediately agreed.
"I will go!"
So, Madam Blackwood, who originally wanted to give Jade some time to accept her origins, suddenly received news from the Wilson Family that Jade was willing to go to M Country with them.
She was instantly delighted and immediately asked Colin to handle the necessary procedures for Jade.
Madam Blackwood had just been sick, so the Blackwood family was worried. They sent their private jet to pick them up, even bringing along several medical staff from M Country.
This was Jade's first time on a private jet. When she saw it, she was shocked.
So, the Blackwood family was this rich?!
Could they be richer than Gabriel?
If that was the case... Jade was glad she had chosen to go with them.
Initially, she was reluctant when her mother asked her to pretend, but now she just wanted to call her mother and tell her how wise she was.
Madam Blackwood and the others boarded the plane and left, while Sophia's life continued as usual.
Madam Lancaster was particularly envious when she saw Madam Blackwood discharged. She had been constantly asking her doctors when she would be allowed to leave the hospital.
Christmas had passed, and if it weren't for Madam Lancaster's prior instructions, the door to her ward would have probably been worn out.
Friends and relatives of the Lancaster family wanted to visit her as soon as they heard that Madam Lancaster was ill. They wanted to come even more during the new year, but Madam Lancaster refused to see them, so they had to leave their gifts with the bodyguards.
Gabriel returned from City Z, temporarily putting down all his work.
He came to the hospital every day to keep his grandmother company, and when he was at home, he would play with Sam. His days were very fulfilling, and he occasionally watched Milk Sugar's live broadcasts.
Perhaps due to the winter vacation, Milk Sugar's business had picked up; she was broadcasting every other day.
Every time, he and Sam would send Milk Sugar to the top of the leaderboard.
Since he had some free time today, Gabriel thought about having a chat with Sam.
"How about inviting your two good friends over to our house today?"
Sam lifted his head from the pile of building blocks and then shook his head.
"They don't have time."
"Oh? How about we arrange another time?"
Sam shook his head again, expressing nothing but refusal.
This made Gabriel curious. Had they had a quarrel? Were they no longer friends?
It was normal for children to quarrel, so he decided to wait until they made up.
Now that his daddy finally stopped asking, Sam breathed a sigh of relief.
Ethan and Emma still hadn't changed their views on Daddy.
Sigh, he was so stupid. So much time had passed, and he still hadn't made Ethan, Emma, and Aunt Kelly like Daddy.
If only he were as smart as Ethan.
At Blue End community, Tiffany's car was parked not far away; she had been sitting there all afternoon.
News came from M Country. During Sophia's five years abroad, a man would show up from time to time. She had checked and found out that the man was a doctor, but he didn't seem to be the father of the children.
Moreover, those two children were about the same age as Sam. They were obviously those two who were thought to be dead.
Tiffany stared at the gate of the Blue End community as her hands tightly gripped the steering wheel. Her slender, sharp nails were almost broken, but she seemed to feel nothing.
Suddenly, her pupils dilated, and she began staring like a madwoman.
Sophia appeared, along with two children!
From a distance, Tiffany saw the two children, who were about the same age as Sam, bouncing around. A boy and a girl, who looked a lot like Gabriel.
She took a deep breath, her eyes cold and venomous, like a snake lurking in the dark, waiting for the right moment to strike.
As Sophia took the two children out for a walk, her keen senses detected a hint of danger. She looked around but found nothing. Still, she cautiously took out three masks.
"Put on your masks."
Ethan and Emma obediently put on their masks, even putting on their jackets and hats.
Sophia held one child in each hand and walked towards a lake.
"Ms. Kelly?"
Suddenly hearing a familiar and pleasant voice, Sophia stopped and looked in the direction of the voice.
Jake, wearing casual sportswear and a white windbreaker, was out for a night run.
He ran over in surprise.
"It really is you; I thought I had recognized the wrong person."
Sophia didn't expect to be recognized by Jake even with a mask and hat on.
"Why are you here?"
Jake jogged in place; his happy smile was not concealed at all.
"I recently found a new house and just moved in. I live in that community."
He pointed to the Blue End community.
Sophia was a bit surprised, "I live there too, in Building C."
"I'm in Building B."
Jake looked at Ethan and Emma.
"Are these your two children?"
"Yes, say hello to Uncle." Sophia tugged at the children's hands.
"He's not an uncle; he's more like a cool older brother." Emma blinked.
This big brother was very handsome; he was better looking than Colin and Godfather.
Jake's appearance was deceiving. His delicate skin had no flaws; he dressed both fashionably and youthfully, and he had the sunny disposition of a young boy. Anyone who didn't know him would definitely think he was a college student.
After hearing Emma's soft and sweet voice, Jake was instantly overjoyed.
He couldn't help but stop jogging and squat down.
"Why are you so sweet; did you eat candy?"
"I didn't eat candy; I ate the brownies Mommy made."
Wow, Jake felt like he was going to be melted by Emma's cuteness. He really wanted to hug her and take a bite.
"What's your name?"
Emma looked at Mommy, silently asking if she could reveal her name.
Sophia nodded lightly, and then Emma crisply said, "My name is Emma Kelly, and his name is Ethan Kelly."
"Ethan, Emma, hello." Jake felt he should also introduce himself, "My name is Jake Hughes."
Watching Jake seriously introduce himself to the two children left Sophia feeling a bit amused.
Ethan recognized Jake. This was the uncle who had saved Mommy when she was beaten at the kindergarten.
Ethan didn't say a word from beginning to end. He was quietly sizing up Jake. After seeing no ill intent on Jake's face, he started scoring Jake.
Initial impression, five points, out of a total of ten.
