Chapter 56 Younger Brother? Younger Sister?

At this moment, Sam was secretly meeting with Ethan and Emma in a hidden place. When Sam saw them, he was pleasantly surprised, “What are you guys doing here?” Sam wrote on his notebook.

Emma replied, "We are good friends, and good friends should play together."

Sam tilted his head, is that so?

"My mommy is here too," Emma mysteriously leaned in closer to Sam. "We are staying in the inn behind your place. You can come over to play at night, and my mommy will make delicious food for you."

Sam was tempted, but he knew his dad wouldn't let him go out at night, so he shook his head and declined.

Understanding Sam's concerns, Ethan's beautiful eyes wandered around.

"You can pretend to sleep first, then sneak out. Emma and I will come to pick you up, and then my mommy will send you back secretly. You can go back without anyone knowing."

Sam still shook his head, indicating, "My dad will come check on me midway."

His dad usually worried about him being outside.

"Then put a pillow under your blanket," Ethan and Emma taught Sam how to deceive his strict dad, but the innocent Sam still refused.

He felt it wasn't right to do that. If his dad found out, he would be angry and worried. Sam did not want to make his dad worry about him. Ethan and Emma wrinkled their brows. If Sam did not want to then their mommy would not be able to see Sam. Ethan quickly came up with an idea.

"Then come out to play after breakfast tomorrow."

By then, they would bring their mommy along so they could meet.

They would invite Sam to their house again next time and let him experience the cheerful atmosphere of their family.

This time, Sam nodded without hesitation.

The three little buddies chatted happily.

"Sam, can you speak to us?" Emma made the first request for Sam to speak since both she and her brother didn't know sign language, and Sam had to write every time.

Sam pursed his rosy lips and still refused to speak. He slightly lowered his head and dropped his shoulders, an indication that he was sad

Ethan and Emma exchanged glances, seeing that their little brother was unhappy again.

Emma gently tugged on Sam's sleeve, her cute face resembling Sam's, expressing her apology with a slight pout.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean it that way. It's just that you treat us as good friends, so why don't you want to talk to us?"

"I want to hear your voice," Emma, in her usual way of achieving what she wanted, revealed a hint of coquettishness and tugged Sam's sleeve again.

Ethan rubbed his forehead.

"Emma, let it go."

Since Sam still refused to speak, they could only continue their efforts. Emma reluctantly let go of Sam’s sleeve, but Sam suddenly held onto her, his face was full of anxiety and fear

Would they ignore him just because he didn't want to speak to them? But he was not ready yet, he was still a little scared.

In an instant, Ethan understood Sam's hesitation.

"Take your time, and comfort your younger brother," Emma urged.

"We won't leave you behind. Even if you don't speak, you're still our good friend," she continued, emphasizing their blood relationship as well. As the oldest, Ethan could never abandon his younger brother.

Seeing their sincere concern, Sam's expression relaxed, revealing a bright smile for the first time.

Ethan and Emma were momentarily stunned.

Their younger brother... looked so adorable when he smiled, and so handsome too.

Emma couldn't help but reach out to pinch Sam's cheek, but he quickly anticipated her intention and evaded her touch.

In his heart, Sam saw Emma as his little sister; how could a sister pinch her brother's face?

In response, Sam playfully pinched Emma's chubby, cute cheek and chuckled mischievously.

Emma's face changed instantly, and she turned to Ethan to complain, "He pinched me!"

How could a brother pinch his sister's face?! Their mischievous brother definitely deserved some retribution.

Ethan glanced around, pretending not to have witnessed the situation.

Since Ethan wouldn't help her, Emma decided to take matters into her own hands. She lunged towards Sam, ready to exact her revenge. However, Sam widened his eyes in surprise and quickly ran away, with Emma chasing close behind.

The two adorable troublemakers frolicked, full of joy and childlike innocence. In no time, Emma pulled Ethan into the "battlefield" as well.

Ethan: ...

Meanwhile, Sophia was searching for someone and inadvertently got lost!

She had seen the figure disappear in a certain direction and went in search of it, but despite walking through several intersections, she completely lost her way.

The woods were filled with maple trees, and the path was covered in maple leaves, bathed in warm sunlight that gave them a golden glow.

Every tree looked the same, and Sophia wasn't particularly good with directions; her sense of orientation wasn't great. Now, she couldn't even find her way back.

Unfortunately, she hadn't encountered anyone either.

With each step, Sophia felt like she was straying further away. A gust of cold wind brushed against her, making her shiver. A wave of fear inexplicably surged within her, but the surroundings remained eerily quiet, with only the gentle "crunch" of her footsteps on the fallen leaves.

It's broad daylight, there's no need to scare myself.

Suddenly, she heard faint footsteps behind her. Sophia froze, her steps stopping abruptly, and the footsteps behind her ceased as well.

No way!

She took a few more steps, and the footsteps followed suit.

They really are following her!

Sophia's expression changed, gripping her phone tightly in her hand. She thought that if the person came closer, she would use her phone to strike, gouge their eyes, and kick their feet, taking advantage of their distraction to escape.

She hastened her steps suddenly, and the person behind her quickened their pace too.

Just as the person drew closer, Sophia estimated the right moment, abruptly came to a stop, and the person, caught off guard, didn't anticipate her sudden halt.

At that moment, Sophia swiftly turned around, fiercely swinging her phone towards the person's head, intending to continue running. Unfortunately, luck was not on her side, as her foot stepped on a stone, causing her to twist her ankle and fall to the ground.

The phone brushed past Gabriel's ear before it continued...

With a loud "bang," it fell to the ground.

Sophia lifted her head and saw Gabriel's handsome face shimmering in the sunlight.

"Why is it you!"

Is he crazy? Following her like this, she thought she ran into a robber.

After Sophia relaxed, the pain in her foot started to come through. She clenched her brows tightly and let out a slight gasp as she tried to move her ankle.

Gabriel stood tall, looking down at Sophia.

This woman has quite a strong sense of caution. If he hadn't avoided her in time, she would have hit him.

"How are you?"

Sophia wanted to stand up, but her sprained foot was too painful.

Gabriel went to help her, but she pushed him away.

He simply stood to the side, coldly watching how she would manage to stand up.

Sophia didn't expect to encounter Gabriel in this corner of the world. It's really unfortunate that she twisted her ankle

She silently cursed her bad luck.
