Chapter 178 Reminder

[Milk Sugar, it's been ten days since your last stream!]
[Milk Sugar, if you aren't back soon, you're gonna lose all your fans.]
[Ugh, my Milk Sugar finally updated her Instagram.]
[Milk Sugar, please start streaming; my wild kid has a pile of homework and we're clueless.]
[Does the person above pay for tutoring?]
[Of course, I've got my little treasure chest ready to tip Milk Sugar.]
"I'm all set, let's get this stream started! I’m aiming for the top spot!"
Emma noticed everyone was eager for her to go live, and realized it had been a while since her last stream. Her Instagram DMs were piling up with messages asking why she hadn't been streaming.
Why not take advantage of the moment now that the adults were out? Maybe a quick 30-minute live session?
Emma couldn't bear to keep her fans waiting. She rushed to find Ethan and Sam.
"I want to do a stream," she said.
Ethan thought it over; it had indeed been too long. Without her live streams, her online persona 'Milk Sugar' might lose its charm.
They set up a cozy corner in Sam's room to look less like his bedroom and more like a safe space that wouldn't trigger their dad's alarms when he found out. With the stage set, Emma went live.
She usually streamed in the evenings when more people were free from work and she didn't have school the next day. Today, though, it was a weekend afternoon with an impromptu stream, so the viewership started at around 100,000.
Fans poured out their emotions, "Milk Sugar always comes through for us, streaming just because we asked."
"Can we see your face today, Milk Sugar? Mommy's missed you so much."
"Daddy's been missing Milk Sugar too; show us your face, please?"
Emma had her face mask ready and Ethan perfected the filters before turning the camera and mic on.
The fans went wild after seeing Milk Sugar, flooding the chat with comments and emojis.
"Omg, Milk Sugar's still as adorable as ever."
"Milk Sugar, Mama loves you!"
"Papa wants a hug from Milk Sugar too."
Donations rolled in amidst the frenzy.
Downstairs, Sam was absentmindedly disassembling a robot, his attention elsewhere. Ethan noticed and asked, "Do you want to watch Emma's stream?"
Sam nodded.
"Go keep her company," Ethan said.
This was the first time Emma was streaming alone—usually, Ethan was by her side, ready to handle any issues that came up.
After so many streams, Emma was more than capable of managing on her own.
"Has Milk Sugar grown taller?"
Emma replied, "I've grown three centimeters taller!"
"Wow, Milk Sugar, great job! Remember to eat well."
"Milk Sugar, can you help me with my homework?"
"Sure."
And just like that, what started as a casual chat became a homework-help session. The number of viewers kept climbing—from a hundred thousand to two hundred, then three hundred, and finally surpassed a million.
Emma's live streaming numbers were nowhere close to the tens of millions she was used to—far from it. But she didn't dwell on it, knowing full well that the timing of this particular stream was off-peak hours.
"Big John just blasted Milk Sugar with a hundred rockets,"
"Big John just fired off a hundred jets for Milk Sugar. Zoom, zoom, zoom..."
Emma's eyes creased into crescent moons as she beamed.
"Thank you for the love, Big John. Milk Sugar sends her kisses your way."
Sam’s cheeks turned pink as he giggled to himself, certain that Emma was clueless that he was, in fact, Big John. He was intent on maintaining his secret identity as Emma's top fan.
He could have claimed the title sooner if it wasn't for that "Money Daddy," who seemingly had deeper pockets than him.
As far as he knew, the only person richer than him was his dad, and his dad certainly wouldn't watch a livestream.
But with Money Daddy mysteriously absent, this was his chance to go all out with donations to secure his spot as her number-one fan.
Then Gabriel noticed his phone buzzing nonstop.
Sitting in his car, he glanced at the series of bank alerts. The credit card was a supplementary one he had given Sam, which Sam had linked to the streaming platform. The transactions looked just like the kind of donations Sam would make during a live stream.
Could it be that Milk Sugar was streaming?
Skillfully, Gabriel logged into the streaming service, and, sure enough, there was Milk Sugar in all her glory. He decisively clicked in and...
"Money Daddy just dropped a hundred mansions on Milk Sugar."
"Money Daddy just gifted Milk Sugar a hundred castles."
"Castle" was the platform's newest and priciest term for a donation, topping even mansions in value.
Sam's eyes bugged out at this "Money Daddy," suddenly feeling his top spot threatened. It was aggravating—just when he thought he had no competition for the day.
Soon everyone witnessed what seemed like a showdown between Money Daddy and Big John, bombarding Milk Sugar with gifts to the point that their donations cluttered the screen, obscuring Milk Sugar's face.
Both the audience and Emma were completely dumbfounded.
What in the world were the bad guy Daddy and Sam up to?
Then Gabriel, watching his phone blow up with notifications, paused his donations. Noticing he was now in the lead, Sam also stopped.
Gabriel started up again, and so did Sam.
Gabriel halted, and, back at number one, Sam followed suit.
Gabriel couldn't help but find the situation humorous.
All right then, he thought with a reluctant smile. Let's just let the boy be Milk Sugar's top fan.
When Gabriel first caught his son watching livestreams, he was initially worried about the kind of content his child was being exposed to. To his relief, he discovered his son was a fan of Milk Sugar, and exclusively her. Seeing no harm, Gabriel didn't intervene. Instead, he generously increased the limit on his son's supplementary credit card and set up text alerts for whenever a donation was made.
Each time Milk Sugar went live, Gabriel would receive a bank text notification as his son tipped the streamer. It was a surefire signal that Milk Sugar was back on air.
Sam, oblivious to the fact that his father got alerts for his tips, reveled in his supremacy on the donation leaderboard, finally knocking off 'Money Daddy.' He was brimming with pride.
Emma, the girl behind Milk Sugar, triumphantly reclaimed the top spot.
Her sweetness on stream was undeniable, and with her consistent top ranking, fans affectionately dubbed her the 'Queen of the Livestreamer board.'
"Time's ticking, lovelies, Milk Sugar's gotta bounce! Next time, we'll game together," Emma announced.
[No, don’t go, Milk Sugar. Let's talk more!]
[Milk Sugar, I've got one more question for you.]
"Slide into my Instagram DMs with that question, and I'll hit you back there," Emma replied.
[Thanks, Milk Sugar, love you loads!]
"Here's a rocket for MilkSugar; you’re too sweet for words!"
"Later, papas mamas," Emma signed off with her usual farewell.
After talking for so long, Emma's throat was parched. She rose to grab a drink, unaware that her computer's camera was still rolling, and that she hadn’t yet exited the live stream. Returning to the horror that she was still on air, she quickly put her mask back on and frantically clicked to exit several times before realizing the streaming service had crashed.
Forced out of the room, it took the platform five more minutes to get back up and running. A virus attack was to blame, the officials announced, assuring viewers that the issue had been dealt with swiftly, and no damage was done.
Emma assumed the incident was just a fluke. Plus, she had been out of the camera's view when removing her mask, confident her full face remained a secret.
As she reviewed her earnings, Emma sank into deep thought.
