Chapter 437 Put Her to Death

Hearing Sophia’s words, Ruth felt relieved.

The Lancaster family was powerful, which naturally drew jealousy. There were always people trying to take them down.

When Ruth's son and daughter-in-law had their accident, the family almost fell apart. Fortunately, Gabriel saved them.

Now, Gabriel was the backbone. If something happened to him, Ruth and the three kids would be easy targets.

"Ruth, what about the company? And me?" Sophia was great at fashion design but not business.

"You handle the family affairs. I'll have Alex call Harrison back to manage the company."

"Okay."

Alex had lost a lot of blood and needed rest, but he couldn't relax. Even in bed, he was making calls.

First, he told Harrison to come back immediately. Then, he messaged key executives.

Finally, he called Dylan and commanded, "Bring a team to the hospital."

Jake smashed a cup at Grant's feet. Seeing Jake's fury, Grant trembled.

"Why didn’t you tell me Harbor Bay caught fire? Why hide it?" Jake was furious, his eyes cold and menacing.

Grant rarely saw Jake this angry.

Even when mad, Jake usually stayed calm and issued orders coldly.

This was the first time Grant had seen Jake so emotional.

Grant said, "I didn't think it was a big deal, so I didn't report it."

"You know how important Sophia is to me. By not telling me, were you trying to let her die?" Jake's eyes flashed with murderous intent.

Grant shuddered. "She wouldn’t die. Gabriel saved her."

"Yes, Gabriel saved her. Now she can like Gabriel even more. Grant, you've been with me for years. You know how determined I am to have her."

"Jake, she's affecting you. Because of her, you've slowed down your revenge."

Jake pressed his lips tightly. If Grant hadn't been his partner for years, he would've punched him.

Grant continued, "Now that Gabriel is seriously injured, we should poach the Lancaster Group's research talent, destroy their aerospace chip project, and speed up our own development."

"Without this project, the Lancaster Group will suffer. Then, our Micro Circuit Group can take over, and Gabriel will have nothing."

"With your elevated status, you can easily get Sophia or any other woman you want."

Jake calmed down. Sitting in his chair, he turned away from Grant, his voice icy.

"Do you think their talent is easy to poach? Gabriel still has two strong subordinates."

"Harrison and Alex?" Grant asked.

Jake didn't deny it.

"Are we just going to give up this golden opportunity?"

"Of course not. We can't deal a heavy blow to Gabriel, but we can cause them some trouble."

Grant got it instantly, a grin spreading across his face. "I understand."

Jake turned back, his eyes warning. "From now on, tell me everything about Sophia, no matter how small it is. Screw up again, and you know the consequences."

Grant's heart pounded, and he nodded. "Yes!"

At the hospital, Betty brought clean clothes. Sophia showered and changed. The kids were asleep by the bedside.

Ruth whispered, "Take the kids to the next room to sleep."

Sophia nodded. When she picked up Sam, he woke up, scared.

"Sam, it's Mommy. Don't be afraid," Sophia said, holding him.

Ethan and Emma woke up too.

They were exhausted from the night before and had fallen asleep leaning on the bed.

"Mommy, is Daddy awake?" Emma asked, rubbing her eyes.

"Not yet."

"Can we talk to Daddy, like we did with Caroline last time, to wake him up?"

"That's a sterile ward. We can't go in, or we might bring in germs that could hurt Daddy," Ethan explained.

Emma pouted, her eyes tearing up again.

The kids refused to go home, insisting on staying at the hospital with Gabriel and Ruth.

In the evening, Ruth convinced Sophia to take the kids home. After a long time, they finally left with her.

Sophia held the kids, telling them stories until they fell asleep. Once they were out, she turned to look at the moonlight outside.

It was another sleepless night.

The villa at Harbor Bay was in ruins, and the fire's cause was still under investigation. Except for the thug Sophia knocked out, the others had escaped.

The thug was severely injured and still in a coma at the hospital.

The police had taken Sophia's statement. Given the situation, her actions were understandable.

Sophia couldn't figure out who wanted her dead.

If she had to guess, it would be Tiffany.

Tiffany was called to the police department. She had just left the hospital and only found out what had happened when she got there.

"I'm innocent. I didn't do it. I have conflicts with Sophia, but I wouldn't want her dead."

From her demeanor, it didn't seem like she was lying.

Without evidence, the police couldn't arrest her.

"Alright, we understand. If we need anything else, please cooperate, Ms. Foster."

Tiffany replied confidently, "No problem, I'll cooperate."

As she left the police department, her face was serious, but once in the car, she laughed.

She hadn't expected someone else to want Sophia dead.

She thought, 'Sophia really has a lot of enemies.'

'Maybe I won't need to do anything, and someone else will take care of Sophia for me.'

'And what about Sophia's kids?'

'Hopefully, that mysterious person will take care of them too!'

Tiffany was in a great mood, though it was a pity Sophia was unharmed.

Her phone rang. When she saw the number, her smile faded as she answered.

"Hello."

In the afternoon, Tiffany showed up at the hospital.

Gabriel's ward was heavily guarded; not even a fly could get in.
