Chapter 246 Pursuing You Again

Josie, feeling wronged, choked up, "My mom won't let me learn anymore."

"Why not?" Emma was perplexed. Her own mother supported her interests, and even though she wasn't as naturally talented as Josie, she was still learning. But Josie's mom wouldn't allow her to learn.

"She thinks it's too noisy," Josie said.

Emma was even more baffled.

She pondered for a moment.

"Do you want to learn?"

"Yes."

"Then you could talk to Miss Caroline."

"Miss Caroline..." Josie trailed off, feeling like perhaps the teacher didn't like her anymore.

"Don't be afraid. Go and talk to Miss Caroline now."

When class was over, Emma encouraged Josie to approach Caroline about learning the violin. Josie mustered her courage and walked up to Caroline.

"Miss Caroline."

"Miss Caroline."

She called out once and, at the same time, so did another teacher.

Caroline glanced at Josie, then passed her by to approach the other teacher, her expression indifferent as if she hadn't heard Josie's call.

Caroline didn't want to be cold to Josie, but every time she saw her, she was reminded of her own child who had passed away. The unresolved grief festered in her heart, and she feared she might inadvertently hurt Josie.

Emma, watching from a distance, found it strange.

She couldn't help but ask Ethan beside her, "Why is godmother ignoring Josie?"

Ethan, with an air of mystery, replied, "Because godmother only likes us."

Emma sensed there was more to it.

Seeing Josie's dejected walk back, Emma patted her, "Don't worry. I'll talk to godmother for you."

"Thank you, Emma, I, I just... want to give up."

Even if she learned from Miss Caroline, Josie knew her mother would be furious if she found out.

She stopped learning.

Josie cried very sadly.

She was timid, even her sobs were soft.

After school, Caroline took the opportunity to drive the two kids home. On the way, Emma brought up Josie's violin lessons.

"Godmother, why are you ignoring Josie?" Emma asked.

"I'm not," Caroline denied.

"I can tell," Emma persisted.

Caroline was silent.

"Didn't you say Josie is talented? And you were going to make her the next violinist, carrying on your mantle," Emma pressed.

Ethan corrected, "Legacy."

Caroline remained silent.

"Godmother, Josie really loves the violin. She cried today, so heartbroken that I almost wanted to cry too," Emma said sympathetically.

"If she loves the violin, she can talk to her parents. They will find her a teacher," Caroline suggested, recalling how Nicholas had once made a special trip to school, showing that he was a father who valued his children's interests and hobbies.

"Josie said her mother won’t let her play the violin," Emma mentioned.

A flicker of sarcastic amusement crossed Caroline's eyes.

Could it be that Daisy was still bothered by her as Nicholas' ex-girlfriend?

If that were the case... A thought crossed Caroline's mind, but she immediately dismissed it. It felt petty to use a child to get at someone.

"Godmother, just teach Josie," Emma pleaded.

Back at home, Caroline couldn't resist Emma’s relentless coaxing and finally agreed.

Deep down, she had felt for Josie when she heard how upset the child was. Despite her reservations about Josie's identity, the child was innocent, and Caroline could only suppress the resentment in her heart. While still in the country, she would teach Josie the violin.

Once her global tour restarted and she left the country, she wouldn't continue teaching Josie.

What the future held for Josie would be up to the girl herself.

...

Jake had been busy for a while, but today he finally had time to come over for dinner.

His injury had healed, leaving behind a tender pink scar.

Sophia got off work and was about to cook dinner. Wanting to spare her the effort, Jake offered to help in the kitchen.

"Why don't you sit down and watch TV? We don’t need you working here," Sophia insisted, sending her guest out of the kitchen.

Jake pulled out a ticket. "Tickets to Catherine's designer show in the country. Interested?"

Sophia's motion to push him out the door came to a halt as she took the admission ticket with surprise and glanced at it.

It was indeed a ticket to Catherine's fashion show.

"How did you manage to get this?"

She had been trying to get a ticket for a long time with no luck. It was such a shame to miss Catherine's show in city B.

Catherine was an internationally renowned fashion designer, and her clothes were classics, imitated but never surpassed.

Many designers who attended one of Catherine's shows returned with a surge of inspiration. If they could also have an in-depth conversation with Catherine herself, they'd learn even more.

Jake chucklingly scratched the back of his head.

"I just happened to get it, and thought, since you're a fashion designer and probably attend shows often, why not bring it to you?"

In fact, he had gone to great lengths to obtain the ticket, but he made it sound so casual.

"Thank you so much. I'll pay you for the ticket."

"No need," he insisted. "It was given to me because it wasn't needed anymore. If I didn't hand it over to you, it would end up in the trash. You're the one making good use of it."

Sophia's eyes sparkled with gratitude.

That night, Sophia cooked with even more enthusiasm and secretly planned a nutritional diet for Jake.

Jake was just fabulous!

At the dinner table, everyone felt Sophia's special affection towards Jake.

Emma felt a twinge of jealousy, holding up her bowl. "Mommy, I want you to serve me too."

Jake laughed softly.

His once cold heart felt like it was filled with warm water, melting the ice and brimming with contentment, nearly overflowing.

He yearned for this warmth to last a lifetime.

Tiffany, having spent two days in the hospital, clamored to be discharged when she heard from Alex that she was the secretary to the president of Lancaster Group. She insisted on returning to work, not wanting to miss a day.

Alex couldn't stop her, so he arranged for her discharge.

With her left arm in a cast, Tiffany showed up at the office and immediately sparked everyone's curiosity.

"Miss Foster, what happened to your hand?"

"Miss Foster, are you alright?"

The secretaries from the executive office showed their concern in droves.

Tiffany felt the warmth of their attention.

"They say I tumbled down the stairs, broke my hand, and even hit my head and got amnesia," she explained with an innocent expression.

There was a collective gasp.

The kind of amnesia they'd only read about in novels or seen on TV was happening right in front of them!

"But you all can relax. Although I've lost my memory, I can relearn what I knew before in no time and won't delay your work," she reassured them confidently.

Tiffany's amnesia had toned down her aloofness, giving way to a sense of naive charm and approachability.

The secretaries all found Tiffany far more likable now.

Word of this change spread through the company quickly.

At noon, Tiffany found Gabriel, her eyes gleaming.

"I heard you were my boyfriend, no, ex-boyfriend."

Gabriel was speechless.

What on earth had Alex told her?

"I don't remember why we broke up, but I can tell that I really liked you, so I'm going to pursue you again!" she declared her affection loudly.

Gabriel wanted to throttle Alex.
