Chapter 649 Taking Action
Gabriel made it a point to steer clear of Jake during this family trip, and sure enough, they didn't run into him.
Tiffany? Yeah, she was even less likely to show up.
When they finally got to their destination, the three kids bolted outside, and Sophia, feeling refreshed from the car ride, followed them.
Emma's eyes lit up when she saw the huge forest.
"Let's play hide and seek!"
Sophia was a bit worried about wild animals, but Gabriel, catching her concern, reassured her, "Don't worry. There aren't any wild animals around here for miles. The deeper parts of the forest are fenced off, and there are regular patrols. It's super safe. Just no playing with fire, okay?"
The hot, dry weather made it a perfect setup for a forest fire.
The kids nodded and then scattered.
"Mommy, come find us!"
Sophia played along, covering her eyes and counting to ten. When she opened them, the kids had vanished. She called out, "I'm coming to find you!"
Gabriel sat back in a chair, watching Sophia and the kids play hide and seek.
He squinted a bit, feeling a wave of relaxation and joy wash over him. Playing with his family like this was something he never thought he'd enjoy so much.
All this warmth and happiness? It was all thanks to Sophia.
"Gotcha!" Sophia found Sam first, giving him a big hug and kiss.
Next, she found Emma. When she couldn't find Ethan, he eventually came out on his own.
"Now it's Daddy's turn to find us," Emma said, grabbing Gabriel's hand.
Gabriel's heart melted. "Alright, my turn."
He closed his eyes.
Emma grabbed Sophia's hand. "Mommy, let's hide together."
They walked about three hundred feet, and Emma had Sophia hide behind a haystack before running off to find her own spot.
Sophia just shook her head, smiling.
Gabriel finished counting and started searching.
Hearing a slight noise from behind the haystack, which he thought was Emma being sneaky, Gabriel grinned and moved closer.
For some reason, Sophia felt really nervous.
She heard Gabriel's footsteps getting closer and tried to sneak around to avoid him.
Gabriel, hearing the rustling, moved in.
"Found you!"
Gabriel's reflexes were quicker than his thoughts, and he grabbed Sophia.
It took him a second to realize it wasn't Emma—it was Sophia!
Gabriel decided not to let go.
Sophia felt a bit embarrassed. She was caught off guard by Gabriel and just stared at his handsome face, looking both surprised and adorable.
Gabriel thought, 'Sam definitely got this look from her.'
Feeling his cheeks heat up under Sophia's gaze, Gabriel let go of her hand, scratching the back of his head like a kid with a crush.
"I found you."
Sophia, also a bit embarrassed, looked down. "Yeah."
Not far away, Emma covered her mouth, giggling, Ethan shook his head, and Sam's eyes were wide open.
"Mommy is so silly, getting found by Daddy so fast," Emma said, jumping out.
Sophia playfully lunged at Emma. "You little rascal, you made Mommy hide there on purpose, didn't you?"
She started tickling Emma, who burst into uncontrollable laughter.
After a while, they were all worn out. On the way back to the villa, Emma asked Gabriel to carry her, while Sophia held Sam and Ethan's hands.
Emma swung her little legs on Gabriel's back.
"Daddy and Mommy should always be together, so we can stay a family," Emma said, watching the sun set.
Gabriel turned his head and looked deeply at Sophia.
"Yes, we will always be together."
Sophia felt a strange warmth in her heart.
She knew the kids had accepted Gabriel wholeheartedly. She wanted to give them a complete family, but there were a few things she needed to sort out first.
Suddenly, she felt a gentle scratch on her palm. Sophia looked down at Ethan.
Ethan whispered, "No matter what decision you make, Mommy, I'll always support you."
Sophia felt a surge of warmth and squeezed Ethan's hand tighter.
Sensing something, Sam also held Sophia's hand tightly.
The villa staff had already prepared dinner. After eating, the family played for a while.
In a new place, the kids clung to Sophia.
They even wanted her to sleep with them.
So, they laid two large mattresses on the bedroom floor, and Sophia slept with them.
"Daddy, you come too. Tonight, we all sleep together," Emma said, pulling Gabriel's hand enthusiastically.
Gabriel, eager to join in, immediately agreed.
"Daddy, you sleep here, I'll sleep here, Sam in the middle, Ethan here, and Mommy here," Emma said, happily arranging the sleeping spots.
Sophia initially felt awkward about sharing a bed with Gabriel on this trip.
But noticing Emma's arrangement with the three kids in the middle, she thought it should be fine.
She could still hug the kids to sleep.
With that thought, the awkwardness disappeared.
Around ten o'clock, the family went to sleep.
Sophia, hugging Ethan and Sam closest to her, slept soundly.
'But why do I wake up in Gabriel's arms?' Sophia wondered when she woke up in the morning.
The three kids had moved to her other side, sleeping in various positions.
Sunlight streamed through the window, making everything feel warm and cozy.
Sophia opened her eyes to see Gabriel's well-defined chin. She looked up and met his deep, charming eyes.
Gabriel's lips curved slightly, and he softly said, "Good morning."
Sophia's mind went blank. 'What's going on?' she thought.
She could clearly feel herself hugging Gabriel's waist, her hand pressed against his lower back.
She suddenly remembered the dream she had before waking up, where her hand was caressing a handsome man's waist.
'So, am I really doing that in reality?'
Sophia's mind continued to blank out.
Gabriel smiled.
"Did you sleep well?"
He deliberately used a husky, seductive voice near her ear.
"If you want to sleep more, go ahead."
Their sleeping position was quite intimate, facing each other, feeling each other's body warmth.
Gabriel almost couldn't suppress the desire within him.
