Chapter 247 Be Asked out Gabriel

Harrison just so happened to overhear Tiffany's confession and let out a snicker.

"She must really have amnesia."

The old Tiffany would never have dared to speak that way to Gabriel.

To think amnesia could alter someone's personality—unbelievable!

"And who might you be?" Tiffany asked, tilting her head toward Harrison.

Even with her memory loss, Harrison's disdain for her remained, prompting him to dismiss her without another thought.

"Why are you ignoring me?"

"Do I need a reason not to?" Harrison retorted with an eye roll.

Feeling slighted, Tiffany faced rejection for the first time since her memory loss and instinctively looked to Gabriel for support.

However, Gabriel, head down, focused on his documents, feigned ignorance to her plight, as if he saw and heard nothing.

Harrison tossed a file onto the table, let out a derisive snort at Tiffany, and strutted out with his chin lifted high.

A while later, Tiffany emerged, a picture of woe, yet quickly began to pep-talk herself back into spirits.

She had overheard from colleagues that she used to frequent the office, often treating everyone to afternoon coffee breaks, especially in the Fashion Design Department.

Resolute, Tiffany made her way there to mingle.

"Miss Foster," everyone greeted her upon her arrival.

In fact, many were skeptical about the rumors of her breakup with Mr. Lancaster. If they had truly split, why would he let his ex-girlfriend freely roam the company?

Seeing Tiffany breeze in and out of departments, it became clear to them—the breakup gossip was utter nonsense.

Tiffany arrived with coffee, handing them out to everyone.

People noticed there was something subtly different about the Tiffany of today.

"Miss Foster, what happened to your hand?" asked Sophia, spotting Tiffany's bandaged, plaster-wrapped hand and cracking a pleased smile.

Tiffany had truly brought this mishap upon herself – a case of what goes around comes around.

"I took a tumble down the stairs and hit my head, ended up with amnesia," Tiffany explained.

"Good heavens, amnesia!" The team buzzed with concern, showering Tiffany with sympathetic words.

Sophia, however, furrowed her brow, her first thought being that Tiffany was faking it.

But what would she gain by pretending to have amnesia?

Noticing Sophia hadn't come for coffee, a curious Tiffany approached her.

"Why didn't you get some coffee?"

Gazing at Tiffany's innocent smile, eyes as clear as a child's, Sophia's suspicions intensified.

If this was all an act, Tiffany deserved an Oscar—her performance was too convincing.

"I'm not a fan of coffee," Sophia responded with a forced smile.

"I see, I wasn't thoughtful enough. Next time, I'll bring you some juice," said Tiffany cheekily, sticking out her tongue playfully.

Sophia wanted to roll her eyes. She managed to keep it together and brushed off the amnesiac Tiffany, promptly texting Caroline to share the news.

Caroline was equally flabbergasted, echoing Sophia's conviction that it was all an act.

Caroline: [Sophia, call her out!]

Sophia: [Not going to bother right now.]

Let her keep up the charade for a while; exposing her would be much more satisfying after some time had passed.

Sophia placed her phone down, refocusing on her design drafts.

With the next competition round fast approaching, she had to buckle down on her creative work.

Meanwhile, at the daycare center, Caroline pulled Josie aside for a talk today.

Josie stood before Caroline, her head bowed, uttering "Miss Caroline" with a hint of timidity.

Caroline watched Josie, her emotions a tangled mix. Inside her, two voices battled: one argued that this was the daughter of an enemy, that you shouldn't teach her the violin, you should stay away; the other insisted that the child was innocent, that the grudges of the past should not be passed to the next generation.

For a whole minute and a half, Caroline stared at Josie before finally letting out a sigh and asking, "Do you still like the violin?"

With her hands clasped in front of her, Josie nodded and then shook her head. She had made up her mind to give it up.

Yet... yet it was Miss Caroline who had asked her, and she didn't want to lie to Miss Caroline.

"Do you like it or not?" Caroline repeated, growing impatient.

Startled, Josie shivered and blurted out, "I like it."

Her voice was as faint as a mosquito's buzz.

"Louder," Caroline demanded.

"I like the violin, Miss Caroline!" Josie gathered her courage to say it, and just as quickly, her courage deflated like a popped balloon.

"Alright, from today on, I'll give you some special coaching, we'll have some private lessons," Caroline offered.

Josie didn't grasp what she meant by 'special coaching,' but she understood the part about private lessons, and her face lit up with surprise and joy.

"Miss Caroline..." her eyes brimmed with tears.

In her gaze, Caroline caught a reflection of her own stern face and was startled by it.

Her severe expression was frightening, not just to Josie but to herself too.

"Why the tears?" Caroline's voice softened a touch.

"My mom won't let me learn."

"Just practice at school every day. Once you play beautifully, she'll come around."

Now that Miss Caroline was willing to teach her, Josie feared losing this opportunity and took the initiative to grasp Miss Caroline' hand.

"Miss Caroline, you're so kind."

Hope reignited in Josie's clear eyes.

Caroline had a word with the principal, who considered Josie's parents' perspective, acknowledging that such matters should be shared with them.

"Principal, Josie has real talent. If she's nurtured, she could become an outstanding violinist. As for her parents, I'll talk to them."

"That's fine."

After all, the kindergarten curriculum was light, so missing one lesson here and there wouldn't hurt.

Josie couldn't wait to share her joy with Emma back in the classroom.

"This is great! You can come over to my house, and we can practice together," Emma beamed, delighted for her friend's wish to come true.

"My mom won't let me go," Josie said regretfully, sad she couldn't join Emma for practice.

"Your mom is strict, nothing like my mama. She's just so awesome..." Emma couldn't stop gushing about her mother.

...

Ever since Milk Sugar started the new semester, it had returned to its usual hours of operation. The buzz from the last in-person fan meet-and-greet with a popular host continued for a while, and it was rumored that the president of Lancaster Group was looking to sign Kyi.

Today, Kyi posted something on Instagram.

After seeing the post, Emma grabbed Ethan's hand and shook it.

"Ethan, what do we do? Kyi is working with that bad guy daddy. Do you think he'll bully Kyi?"

Kyi planned to compete for a couple more years before retiring to focus on a full-time career as a gaming streamer. After two rounds of negotiation, Kyi decided to back his channel with the financially powerful Lancaster Group.

"Does bad guy daddy want to sign me too? Ethan, I need to go protect Kyi."

Ethan was speechless.

Just then, a tech from the streaming company sent Ethan a message.

"Have you made up your mind? I heard from the boss that Lancaster Group is looking to acquire our company."

Ethan's eyes widened in shock. That bad guy daddy was planning to take over the company!

Could it be because he and Emma had consistently refused to sign with Lancaster Group?

Was the bad guy daddy trying to force their hand!

Caroline had been asked out by Gabriel!

She didn't share the news with Sophia, deciding instead to see for herself what Gabriel was up to.
