Chapter 216 Madam Blackwood

Colin, having eaten his fill, couldn't help but pat his stomach; he even felt a little embarrassed. It was his first time overeating at someone else's house, and it was awkward.
"Your cooking is excellent. My grandmother would definitely love it, too bad she's out with her friends tonight."
"Did your grandmother also return to the country? Why not bring her over for a visit tomorrow, Mr. Colin?" Sophia kindly suggested.
She had a good impression of Colin; he had discovered the issue with Sam's medication, and this only added to her favorable feelings.
She knew that Colin and his grandmother, being foreigners in the country, must be facing many inconveniences.
Regrettably, Colin shook his head, "We're returning to M country tomorrow."
"Oh," Sophia thought, "then I should prepare some food for you to take back to M country tonight."
After resting for a while, Colin and Sam went into a room alone. Sam had met Uncle Colin before, so he wasn't a stranger.
Ethan and Emma waited outside.
Half an hour later, the door opened, and upon seeing two pairs of expectant little eyes, Colin smiled gently and couldn't help but pat their fluffy heads.
"Don't worry, Sam is much better now." He then gave Sophia an update, "He's doing much better than I expected. Keep this up, but if you want him to start talking more, it might take some more time."
"Sometimes external stimuli can make him speak, but this method is not advisable. Do not try it."
Sophia listened and took notes seriously.
Around nine o'clock, Colin left.
Sophia packed the food she had prepared overnight. All of it was suitable for carry-on, and she had specifically asked Colin for his flight time the night before.
Early in the morning, she brought the food to Colin's hotel.
Just as she arrived at the hotel and was about to call Colin, she saw Colin hurriedly carrying an old woman out of the elevator.
"Mr. Colin," Sophia rushed over.
"My grandmother is unwell; I need to take her to the hospital."
"My car is outside; let's hurry."
Colin carefully helped his suffering grandmother into the car and was about to go to the driver's seat when Sophia stopped him.
"I know the roads well; I'll drive."
"Okay."
Colin got into the back seat to take care of his grandmother. Sophia, an experienced driver, drove quickly and steadily.
They were near the hospital where Madam Lancaster was, so she took them straight there.
Knowing that Colin was unfamiliar with the local medical system, Sophia stayed with them the whole time and ran around to help them as much as she could.
Two hours later, Madam Blackwood was admitted to a ward.
The sadness she had experienced had triggered an old ailment. It wasn't serious, but she needed to stay in the hospital for observation for two days; it wasn't suitable for her to take a long flight now.
Colin had to cancel the flight and change his plans.
Madam Blackwood was awake and lying weakly on the hospital bed; her voice was hoarse as she asked, "Who was that girl just now?"
"She's the mother of one of my patients."
Her grandson's patients were all children, but she looked so young; she didn’t seem like a woman with children.
But it made sense, most girls in this country got married while they were still young.
"She's done us a big favor; you should thank her properly and put more effort into curing her child’s illness."
"I know, Grandma, I'll go out and check."
"Go ahead."
Sophia finished the hospital admission procedures, met Colin at the door, and handed him the paperwork.
"Keep these papers; you'll need them when you're discharged."
"Thank you; I don't know what I would have done without you today." Colin wanted to hug Sophia in gratitude... and he did.
Madam Lancaster was wheeled out by a nurse and happened to see their embrace. Her ward was just next door.
"Sophia."
"Grandma." Sophia was a bit flustered, hoping her grandmother wouldn't misunderstand anything.
Colin let go of her. Upon seeing her uneasy expression, he realized that he had probably been a bit too intimate.
"Hello, Madam, I'm Sam's psychologist. My grandmother suddenly fell ill today. I'm not familiar with the medical system here, and Sophia has been a great help to us."
With such a simple explanation, Madam Lancaster obviously thought nothing of their hug.
She hadn't misunderstood the relationship between Sophia and Colin, but since he had explained, she asked out of concern, "How is your grandmother? Is it serious?"
"It’s not that serious, thank you for your concern."
After a few simple pleasantries, Madam Lancaster understood that Colin and his grandmother had come to visit their homeland.
They were supposed to return today, but an unexpected incident occurred and they temporarily could not return to M country.
Madam Lancaster also asked Colin about Sam's condition.
"Don't worry, I'm in the room just next door. If you need anything, just let me know." Madam Lancaster thought she should also help as much as she could, so that he would take Sam's condition more seriously and cure him as soon as possible.
So, in the afternoon, Madam Lancaster had a nurse push her to visit Colin’s grandmother next door.
Upon seeing Madam Blackwood, Madam Lancaster felt a sense of familiarity, "Is your husband's family name 'Blackwood'?"
She thought of someone.
"Are you Mr. Blackwood Sr.'s daughter-in-law? Alice?"
Madam Blackwood looked puzzled, "And you are?"
"Ruth Lancaster."
Madam Blackwood retrieved a memory from the depths of her mind. She remembered now; she and Ruth used to be classmates.
Their families were of equal status, and both had married well.
However, during the turbulent times, the Lancaster family had persevered, while the Blackwood family had been forced to flee overseas.
The two of them had a decent relationship as classmates; they were not particularly close, but they weren’t distant either. They would greet each other and exchange pleasantries whenever they met.
Now, after several decades, seeing each other again stirred up a lot of emotions within them. The two of them suddenly had endless topics to talk about. They talked about the past and eventually the present.
In the evening, Sophia came to deliver food, just as Gabriel also arrived.
After learning that Madam Lancaster was in the next ward, they both came in together.
This was Madam Blackwood's first time seeing Sophia.
In the morning, she only knew she was a beautiful young woman, but she hadn't paid close attention to her appearance. It was only now that she got a good look at her.
"Your name is Sophia?"
Sophia nodded, "Yes, Madam Blackwood."
Only now did she know that Colin's surname was Blackwood, Colin Blackwood.
Madam Blackwood found Sophia incredibly familiar. She liked this girl very much, and considering her help in the morning, her fondness for Sophia grew even more.
She then took off the bracelet she was wearing. "I didn't prepare a gift for our meeting. This bracelet is very spiritual, and I'd like you to have it, as a token of my thanks."
Sophia was flattered and kept refusing, "It's too valuable; I can't accept it."
Madam Blackwood was being too polite.
"Do you think the things I've worn are not clean?" Madam Blackwood was displeased.
"No, I don't; I didn't mean that."
"Then put it on." Madam Blackwood took Sophia's hand and put the bracelet on her wrist herself. She then smiled contentedly, "It looks good; it suits your skin tone."
Sophia was embarrassed. She had only done some minor things in the morning, but she had unexpectedly received such a valuable gift.
She decided to visit Madam Blackwood more during her hospital stay and see if there was anything she could help with.
When Madam Blackwood saw Gabriel, she also praised him for his achievements at a young age.
After everyone left, Colin said to his grandmother, "Sophia is the one who looks a lot like you, as I mentioned before."
"Oh? It's her." No wonder she found her familiar.
Madam Blackwood liked Sophia even more.
The next day, a stylish and beautiful woman appeared in Madam Blackwood's ward.
