Chapter 499 Surgery

After Blake's diagnosis, Diana was cleared to fly home. Daniel quickly arranged a private jet.

Caroline got a call from the hospital right away.

"Ms. Clark, the patient has been moved to Evergreen Heights Medical Center. Can you come for a match test soon?"

"Sure, can I come tomorrow?"

"Yes, that's fine."

Once Diana was admitted to Evergreen Heights, Mia and Daisy visited.

"Linda, don't worry too much," Mia reassured her.

Linda's condition had improved since her treatment abroad. She looked at Daisy with a complicated expression. "Daisy, I need to talk to you."

"Okay," Daisy replied.

They stepped out to a quieter corner. Linda glanced at Daisy's pregnant belly and asked, "Is the baby okay? I haven't had the energy to check on you with everything going on with Diana."

Daisy quickly responded, "Diana is more important, Aunt Linda. Is there something you need to tell me?"

"Caroline is getting tested for a match for Diana. I know you have issues with her, but for Diana's sake, please don't cause any trouble," Linda said.

Linda was worried Caroline might refuse to donate bone marrow if provoked.

Daisy felt a chill. She knew Diana's return threatened her position as the Wolf family's heiress. Reluctantly, she agreed, "I understand, Aunt Linda. I won't cause any trouble for Caroline."

Linda squeezed Daisy's hand. "Thank you."

Daisy lowered her head. She had planned to confront Caroline, but now she couldn't risk it. If Caroline refused the test, Linda would blame her, and she'd gain nothing even if Diana died.

Daisy told Mia about it later.

Mia was furious. "Why should you have to let go of your grudge to help her daughter?"

"Mom, we can't do anything now."

Mia gritted her teeth, full of resentment.

The next day, Caroline went to the hospital for the match test and saw Diana. The Declan couple thanked her profusely. Seeing their exhaustion, Caroline's heart softened.

The doctor began arranging the bone marrow match test.

Daniel wasn't in City B. Linda waited at home for the results, nervously calling him.

"I'm on a business trip in City H," Daniel said.

Linda was annoyed. "Caroline is getting tested for Diana today. We should be in City B, not City H."

Daniel replied, "I couldn't postpone it. Let me know if there's any news."

"Okay."

Daniel hung up and pointed to another name, "Diana," on a roster. "Are you sure this child is dead?"

He still wanted to find out the truth.

Daniel didn't want to give up hope.

Saskia's daughter nodded. "Yes, everyone circled died in that fire."

Daniel stubbornly flipped through the roster again and again.

His assistant noticed the old pages were about to fall apart. "Mr. Wolf," he reminded.

Daniel snapped out of it, closed the roster, and handed it back.

He pulled out an old photo. "This is my daughter before she went missing. Please show it to Saskia often and see if she remembers anything."

Saskia's daughter hesitated but agreed. Daniel also gave her a generous reward before leaving.

Besides Saskia's clue, he had nothing else.

Exhausted, Daniel got a call from Linda after returning to his hotel.

Linda's voice was excited. "Honey, Caroline and Diana's match was successful. The doctor is prepping for surgery."

Daniel almost said something but held back. He couldn't tell Linda. What if they never found their biological daughter?

The hospital process went smoothly. Caroline's body was suitable for donation.

Caroline only told Sophia and Lisa. Lisa was worried about her health and didn't agree with the donation.

But Caroline saw Diana's frail state and the Declan couple's worry-worn faces. Saving Diana meant saving a family.

Caroline stayed resolute, unafraid.

The surgery date was set. Caroline took leave from school. When Melissa heard about the bone marrow donation, she spread the news.

The whole school praised Caroline. She received a wave of admiration.

In the ward, Caroline saw messages in the teacher's group and realized everyone knew. She understood Melissa's intention. It was good for her reputation and future job evaluations.

Everyone knew about Caroline's donation, except Nicholas. On the surgery day, Sharpe reported the news to him.

When Nicholas arrived at the hospital, both were already in the operating room.

He gripped the wheelchair's armrests, staring at the operating room door. The Declan couple, waiting outside, were too scared to make a sound.

"Sharpe, call Blake and have him bring his team to City B immediately," Nicholas ordered.

Sharpe was surprised but quickly made the call.

Blake's medical team was Nicholas' elite force. They developed many of the Watson Group's special drugs.

The surgery was already underway and couldn't be interrupted. Sharpe didn't understand why Blake's team was needed but followed orders.

The surgery lasted over three hours. Caroline was the first to be wheeled out.

Seeing her pale face and closed eyes, Nicholas felt a pang of pain.

He held Caroline's hand and followed her to the ward.

The Declan couple waited for Diana. When the doctor said the surgery was successful, they happily followed to the ward.

Caroline woke up an hour later to see Nicholas' worried face.
