Chapter 211 Aunt Kelly Becoming Mommy
"The surgery was a success," the doctor announced, looking visibly relieved.
Sophia froze for a moment before covering her mouth and crying tears of joy; she was overwhelmed with emotion.
Gabriel reacted swiftly, and his expression eased as he bowed deeply to the attending physician in gratitude. "Thank you."
The CEO of Lancaster Group bowing to him took the physician by surprise.
He quickly moved to assist Gabriel but remembered he had just performed surgery. "No worries, this is all part of my job," the doctor replied with a smile; his expression was warm and kind, and his wrinkles creased with happiness.
With the surgery over, Madam Lancaster needed to rest well and could potentially live for many more years.
He had saved the grandmother of Lancaster Group's CEO. Could he be considered the CEO’s benefactor?
Would it now be easier to talk about getting an investment from the CEO for research purposes?
Madam Lancaster was taken to a sterile ward where no visitors were allowed. They would have to wait until she woke up before observing her further.
Little Sam tiptoed to Sophia's side and took her hand.
She looked down at him.
Sam gave her a warm, comforting smile; his clear and sparkling eyes were like stars.
He was silently soothing her.
Sophia felt a warmth in her heart and lifted Sam up, nuzzling his neck. "Oh, Sam, you are my little sun."
Her little sun? Could he become Aunt Kelly's little sun?
Sam felt very happy inside.
Upon hearing of Madam Lancaster's successful surgery, Ethan and Emma left the hospital quietly with their godmother.
Gabriel glanced at his grandmother through the window before turning to see Sophia holding Sam.
He approached them, "I have some business to attend to tonight; how about letting Sam go home with you?" Gabriel suggested.
Was Gabriel allowing her to take Sam home outside of the agreed-upon time?
This came as a surprise to Sophia.
Even if there was a catch, she wouldn't refuse such an opportunity.
She nodded, "Okay."
"No one needs to stay at the hospital tonight, so I'll drive you guys home," he offered.
"No need, I drove here," she said.
"Then let me walk you to the parking lot."
Sophia still refused, "It's not necessary."
Gabriel closed his eyes deep in thought, then looked at Sam, who seemed to understand his father's wish and reached out his arms to be held.
Gabriel picked up Sam and said to Sophia, "Let's go."
Sophia was momentarily at a loss for words.
As Sam lay on his daddy's shoulder, his little head gently bobbed with each step.
Watching Aunt Kelly making faces and laughing at him, an idea suddenly crossed Sam's mind.
He didn't want Aunt Tiffany to be his mommy.
He wanted Aunt Kelly to be his mommy. Aunt Kelly was really nice to him; she loved him and felt like a mommy.
Could he possibly set up Aunt Kelly with his daddy?
Great-grandma said that only the woman who married his daddy could become his mommy. So, he would try his best to get Aunt Kelly to marry his daddy!
But it seemed like Aunt Kelly didn't like his daddy very much.
Behind them, Sophia was playing with Sam when she realized he was lost in thought.
Sam hadn't been this distracted in a long time.
"Sam," Sophia called out to him.
Colin once said that if Sam zoned out like that, you could communicate and interact with him to capture his attention.
Sam snapped back to reality and looked at her, puzzled.
"What would you like to eat tonight?"
Sam thought for a moment. Aunt Kelly's cooking always tasted like something a Mommy would make.
“How about tomato soup?"
Sam nodded; he liked soup.
Sophia began interacting with Sam while eating, and by now, she had completely mastered his taste preferences. Thanks to her culinary pampering, a bit of baby fat was starting to show on his cheeks.
Gabriel listened, swallowing reflexively as his Adam's apple moved up and down.
His grandmother often praised Sophia's cooking skills, telling him about the various homestyle dishes and desserts she made, something he had overlooked in the past.
He remembered Sophia making all sorts of food for him, but it seemed he never had the time to indulge in their flavor.
As a result, he had never really experienced the taste of Sophia's cooking.
As he walked ahead with Sam in his arms, the little guy rested his head on his daddy's shoulder while Sophia interacted with him from behind. They looked like a warm, happy family.
To anyone else, they looked like a content family of three.
Even Gabriel felt a special sensation lingering in his heart.
The path was long, but it felt too short to him.
The gloom that hung over him due to Madam Lancaster's illness lifted with the success of her surgery.
Sophia prepared an especially lavish dinner that evening and even brought out a bottle of wine in celebration.
After seeing the wine, Ethan and Emma shuddered.
"Mommy, you can't drink alcohol!" Emma said earnestly as she placed her hands on her hips, scolding her mother.
"Just a little with your godmother; I won't get drunk, and we're at home, so nothing will happen," Sophia said, sounding slightly guilty.
Ethan also disapproved.
"Mommy, you mustn't drink."
Sam joined Ethan and Emma, "Drinking is bad, and it harms the body. Daddy gets a headache after drinking."
Sam had seen Gabriel wake up with a hangover once.
Caroline watched, amused by the scene.
In the end, Sophia gave in, opting for juice as a substitute for wine, and celebrated Madam Lancaster's successful surgery with Caroline and the three kids.
This Christmas, both Caroline and Sophia stayed in the country.
Caroline was an orphan; except for the orphanage, she had nowhere else to go, so she spent Christmas with Sophia and the kids as usual.
Sophia didn't have many relatives to interact with; her father was an only child, and after the incident, those distant relatives stopped visiting. As for her mother's side, Sophia acted as if they didn't exist.
So, when shopping for food, Sophia only bought what the kids loved to eat.
It was Ethan and Emma's first Christmas in the country. The festive atmosphere wasn't as strong abroad.
Both little ones were incredibly curious and excited about spending Christmas domestically for the first time and were eagerly picking out seasonal food and decorations; they wanted to take everything.
Gabriel held two international meetings late into the night, resting only four hours before waking at three in the morning and then soon receiving a call from Tiffany.
Tiffany specifically inquired about Madam Lancaster’s condition.
Now that his grandmother's surgery was successful, Gabriel felt it was time to talk to Tiffany.
"Let's have lunch together at noon."
Tiffany was pleasantly surprised that Gabriel took the initiative to ask her out.
"Okay, where shall we eat?"
"Your favorite place."
"Alright."
After hanging up, Tiffany gleefully went to the walk-in closet to pick out clothes.
She had been neglected by Gabriel for quite some time.
Before the annual meeting, because of the paternity test, she could no longer go to the hospital anymore to feign concern for the old lady unless she wanted to be humiliated again. After the meeting, Gabriel was preoccupied with his grandmother's health and couldn't attend to her.
Tiffany resented the old lady's stubborn will to live.
However, Gabriel finally seemed inclined to date her again, and she intended to make a good impression.
Suddenly, Tiffany stopped rummaging for clothes.
