Chapter 605 Like You

As soon as they bounced outta the building, Michael straight-up slapped Mia across the face.

"Mom!" Daisy rushed to hold Mia up.

Mia clutched her cheek, eyes wide with shock.

"You actually hit me!"

"You're a piece of work, lady. Daniel's my brother, and you still went after him?" Michael's eyes were blazing as he pointed at Mia and cursed, "You know Daniel's got dirt on you? He didn't call the cops 'cause of our brotherhood."

Mia's face went even whiter, and the slapped side started swelling up fast.

Michael didn't give a damn about where they were or what people thought; he yanked Mia away without a second thought.

Daisy saw folks around them pointing and whispering, so she hung her head and trailed behind.

'How did it come to this?' Daisy wondered.

Mia had sworn she'd never let Caroline get back with the Wolfs.

But now Daniel already knew Caroline was their daughter.

She and Caroline were family!

'Between me and Caroline, Daniel's definitely gonna love his own daughter Caroline more. He won't spoil me, his niece, anymore.'

Daisy questioned herself, 'What should I do? Is Nicholas gonna be all about Caroline from now on?'

Daisy didn't give a hoot about her parents anymore; she drove back to the Watson Mansion solo.

As soon as she walked in, Gummidge noticed Daisy's pale face and asked, "Daisy, what's up? Something happen?"

Daisy shrugged it off. "Nah, just a headache. Gonna crash in my room for a bit."

A baby's cry echoed from the nursery, and Daisy stormed into her room, not caring why Trevor was bawling.

Gummidge sighed and went to pick up Trevor, finally calming him down after a while.

She plopped down on the couch in the living room.

Aragorn was watching TV, looking all grumpy.

He suddenly chucked the remote onto the coffee table.

"Is Nicholas still refusing to pull the bodyguards?"

Gummidge flinched and said weakly, "Those are Nicholas's guys sent to protect us."

"He's totally spying on us. For Caroline, he's even keeping tabs on his own parents. What's next, locking us up?"

Gummidge was taken aback. "No way, Nicholas wouldn't do that. He's just worried about us. Didn't the head bodyguard say Nicholas got robbed abroad, and Charles got seriously hurt protecting him and is still in a coma?"

"He's worried that might happen here, so he sent people to protect us."

Aragorn shot back, "He's warning me!"

Gummidge was confused. "What do you mean?"

"I did that, but it was to teach Caroline a lesson, to keep her away from Nicholas."

"What!" Gummidge shrieked in fear.

When the head bodyguard told her, it was super dangerous. The robbers even had shotguns, and Charles got shot in the head. If it weren't for quick treatment, Charles would've been dead.

'If, if that shot had hit Nicholas, then Nicholas...' Gummidge thought.

"Aragorn, to stop them from being together, would you even risk Nicholas's life!"

Gummidge, who'd been obedient all her life, scolded Aragorn for the first time.

Aragorn was stunned.

He looked at Gummidge like she was a stranger.

"I didn't know Nicholas was gonna be there."

He was worried about Nicholas when he heard Charles got hurt, but when he saw Nicholas was safe, he didn't think about it anymore.

Gummidge's tears started flowing as she thought about Nicholas's legs.

Back then, Nicholas had that car accident and ended up disabled because of Caroline.

Now, Nicholas almost lost his life abroad for Caroline.

And this time, the culprit was Aragorn.

Gummidge was super agitated.

"If keeping them apart means risking Nicholas's life, then I'd rather let them be together forever."

She only had one son, Nicholas. Even though she was weak and couldn't stand up to Aragorn all her life, and couldn't help Nicholas much, she would never let anyone hurt Nicholas.

Aragorn stared at Gummidge, a flicker of confusion in his eyes. For the first time ever, he felt like a total stranger to her.

But he knew one thing for sure: Nicholas had to stay safe.

Because of this, he thought Caroline was bad news and always wanted to keep her and Nicholas apart.

In the hospital, Linda fainted. The doc said it was just a temporary fainting spell from stress.

Daniel stayed in the room with Linda, and Diana didn't dare to stay with Daniel, so she hung out outside the room.

She pressed her body tight against the wall, head down, fingers digging into the chair next to her, hurting her fingers but not stopping, like she wanted to break her nails.

She was super confused.

She didn't know what to do.

Her fake identity was out. 'Where should I go? What should I do? Would Linda still recognize me? Could I still be the young lady of the Wolfs? Would the stuff I did with Mia come out? What should I do?' Diana wondered.

Diana's tears, shiny and bright, rolled down her face.

She accidentally became a child of the Wolfs and got caught up in all this drama, none of which she wanted.

Footsteps came closer, and a pair of leather shoes showed up in Diana's view.

Diana looked up a bit and saw it was Paul. She quickly wiped her tears and smiled at him.

"Paul." She put on a girlish act, her eyes full of admiration without hiding it.

Paul looked at her with no expression, then walked to the next room and knocked on the door.

Diana's smile froze.

Since that day, Paul had been ignoring her.

Before, when she saw Paul, he would smile at her, but now, he only had indifference and disgust for her.

Diana felt super sad. She clutched her chest and slowly squatted down against the wall.

A suffocating feeling squeezed her throat, stealing her breath.

After a long time, Paul came out of the room.

He didn't even glance at Diana and was about to leave.

"Paul." Diana suddenly called him, her voice hoarse.

Paul stopped.

Seeing this, Diana's eyes lit up with hope. Her head was spinning, and she blurted out to Paul.

"I like you, Paul. I really like you."

At that moment, Diana felt a sudden burst of courage.

She felt that if she didn't say it now, she might never get another chance.

"I was into you from the first time we met. Even though I know I might not be in your league, I've been working hard to improve myself for you."

"My mom said I'm already making great progress now. Paul, I can do more for you."

"I want to be by your side, always be with you, and help you."

Diana tried to stand up, but her legs were numb from squatting too long. She almost fell again.

Paul turned around.

Diana thought Paul was going to help her, but he just turned around and looked at her deeply.
