Chapter 455 Willing to Be Your Bodyguard
Mia's legs went weak with fear, and she leaned against the wall for support.
Previously, Caroline had been in a wheelchair and had almost no way to attack her, but today Caroline brought Sophia, while Mia was alone.
Mia opened her mouth and screamed, "Help!"
Liquid splashed on her face, and Mia screamed in terror,. Her voice echoing throughout the parking lot, shrill and horrifying.
After screaming for a while, Mia realized there was no corrosive pain on her face.
She covered her face with her hands and felt it. Apart from being wet, there was no blood. Some of it had gotten into her mouth, but she didn't feel any discomfort. She even instinctively licked the moisture on her lips.
Sophia clutched her stomach, laughing. "How does swill taste?"
"Swill?" Mia immediately clung to the wall and started to vomit. Hatred grew in her heart.
"Yeah, this isn't sulfuric acid, it's swill. How does it taste? Sweet or salty?" Caroline also smiled.
Mia was furious. "You, you... just you wait!"
"Wait for what? I have another cup here." Caroline took a step forward.
Mia immediately shrank back in fear, looking at the cup in Caroline's hand in panic.
"Don't come any closer. I'm warning you, the Wolf family is not to be messed with. I'll make sure you can't stay in City B."
"I'm already struggling to stay here, so I have nothing to lose," Caroline sneered.
If it weren't for the Wolf family not letting her go, she and Sophia wouldn't be here today.
Mia had ordered that cup of sulfuric acid to be thrown at her without mercy. If Daniel hadn't shielded her, she would be the one suffering now.
Now, just splashing Mia with a cup of swill was far from enough.
"Her cup was swill, but mine isn't," Caroline said menacingly, her tone convincing Mia that the cup in her hand might really be sulfuric acid.
Mia's face changed.
"Caroline, let me go. I promise I won't bother you again." Mia, having been scared by Sophia's cup of swill, was on the verge of a breakdown.
She was a wealthy lady, always admired wherever she went. If her face was ruined, she would become a laughingstock.
Her relationship with Michael was already strained, and he would despise her even more If her face was scarred. Her status in the Wolf family would be gone.
Mia gritted her teeth, a calculating look in her eyes. "I can give you money."
Caroline said, "I don't want your money. I just want you to pay for hurting me."
With that, she raised the cup and was about to splash it on Mia. Mia screamed and dodged, but Caroline was quick and poured it over her head.
Mia screamed again.
This time, there was still no pain.
After a few seconds, Mia realized she had been tricked again and was about to curse.
Sophia kindly reminded her, "Touch what's on your head."
Mia reached up and felt something sticky with an acrid smell.
"It's glue!"
Mia's face turned pale.
"If you don't wash it off soon, the glue will dry, and you'll have to cut your hair," Sophia reminded her again.
Mia, terrified, quickly ran out from the corner of a nearby car.
Sophia's warning voice followed. "Don't think you can use the Wolf family's power to oppress Caroline. No matter how good Caroline's temper is, if you push her too far, you'll get what's coming to you.
"Also, Nicholas cares about Caroline now. As long as Nicholas' heart is with Caroline, Daisy can forget about marrying Nicholas."
Mia almost stumbled in anger, glaring at them from a distance. She had always lived a life of luxury, looking down on others. When had she ever been so humiliated?
She would never let Caroline go!
Sophia furrowed her brows worriedly. "I don't think she'll give up, Caroline. Be very careful."
"Yeah, I will, Sophie. You too."
"Okay, let's go."
That cup of water was just tap water, not swill. Sophia had said it to disgust Mia.
The glue was also diluted, so it wouldn't dry quickly and could be washed off in time.
Caroline had thought about using real sulfuric acid, but if Mia got hurt, it would be a crime.
After dealing with this, Caroline got a call from Ben. She went to meet the band hosting the concert. After hearing her play, they invited her to perform the violin at the concert.
Sophia went to the hospital. Ruth's condition had improved, and she was discharged yesterday to recuperate at home. Gabriel still needed to stay in the hospital for observation.
His wounds had been stitched up and were slowly healing, but his body still needed proper care.
Gabriel could only handle doing some light work in the hospital room, with Alex bringing important documents over and Harrison still overseeing the company.
This crisis was temporarily over.
The Lancaster Group's stock price had finally stabilized. With the disclosure of the aerospace chip development progress, the stock was gradually rising.
Meanwhile, Micro Circuit Group was gaining traction due to their navigation system, quickly capturing a certain market and economic position in City B. Before the Lancaster Group announced their aerospace chip development, Micro Circuit Group had already been making waves, with rumors that they had mastered the highest chip development technology in Country M and were working on an even more advanced chip.
Before Micro Circuit Group's rise, the Lancaster Group was the leading tech company in the country. With Micro Circuit Group's emergence, it seemed like there was a trend of competition between the two companies.
However, most people still believed that the Lancaster Group was the top tech company. As for Micro Circuit Group, a newly emerged company whose CEO didn't even dare to show their face, how could they achieve outstanding results?
"Tomorrow, I can only come to the hospital in the evening," Sophia said, taking out a thermos lunch box for Gabriel.
"Why?" Gabriel said, unhappily.
"I have to go to work tomorrow. I haven't been to the office for a while, and a lot of tasks have piled up."
Gabriel had passed the critical period and was gradually recovering. She needed to return to her life and career.
"Okay." Gabriel didn't stop her.
He wanted to keep pretending to be weak, but she had seen through it. If he kept pretending, she would get angry.
To avoid making her angry, Gabriel had been very obedient these past two days.
When Sophia told him to take his medicine, he took it. When she told him to rest, he rested without hesitation.
While Gabriel was eating, Sophia sat beside him, holding her phone and sending messages.
Jake: [I'm sorry I wasn't there for you when this happened.]
Sophia: [It's okay. You have your own things to deal with. You can't protect me all the time. You're not my bodyguard.]
Jake: [I can protect you all the time. I'm willing to be your bodyguard.]
