Chapter 134 Getting Rid of the Evil Father
After Gabriel's car disappeared from sight, Caroline helped Sophia walk to the neighboring community.
"Why did he bring us to Yufeng?" Caroline asked, confused.
"I lied to him that I live in Yufeng." She had informed Caroline about this in advance.
Caroline understood immediately and didn't ask any further questions.
"Sophia, do you suspect that Tiffany was involved too?"
"Yes."
She couldn't help but suspect Tiffany, but Tiffany was Gabriel's girlfriend. She was afraid that even if Gabriel found evidence against Tiffany, he wouldn't do anything to her. So she had to investigate herself, if she could find any evidence. Then she could sue directly and at the same time fight Gabriel for custody of Sam. But how could she investigate? She had no connections in China, the only person she could rely on was the police. Tomorrow she had to personally go to the police station.
Caroline knew what she was thinking. This time, she also felt somewhat helpless. Her capabilities in China were limited, and her main connections were in country M. She didn't plan to stay long this time, and she would still return to country M in the future.
Ethan and Emma were worried at home. Mommy said there was something to take care of, and Auntie also went out for errands. It was already past ten o'clock, and they still hadn't come back.
Finally, they heard the sound of the door opening, and the two little ones ran out of their rooms.
Immediately, they noticed that Mommy's face was red and something was wrong.
"Mommy, what happened to you?"
The two little ones ran over very worried.
"Mommy has a fever. Ethan, boil some water, and Emma, find the fever medicine in this bag."
Caroline quickly assigned tasks to the two children, letting them do something so that her heart could feel a bit more at ease.
Sure enough, the two little bundles of joy took on their serious faces and started doing their respective chores.
Caroline helped Sophia onto the bed. Sophia still complained that she wanted to take a bath, and Caroline rolled her eyes.
"I'm afraid you'll slip and not be able to get up while bathing in your current state. Just lie down quickly. Don't you know about your own body? Every time you have a fever, it's like you're on your deathbed."
Sophia used to have a very good physical foundation and rarely got sick. But her body was damaged during childbirth, and now whenever she fell ill, it hit her hard.
This time with the fever was no exception. She couldn't get up after lying down. Just a moment ago, she had to endure it while facing Gabriel, not wanting him to see her in a sorry state, not wanting to be mocked by him.
Caroline fed her the medicine, and Sophia looked at the two fuzzy little heads in front of her, smiling.
"Tonight, you two will sleep with Auntie."
"No, I want to sleep with Mommy." Emma pouted, her eyes shimmering with tears.
Ethan tightly pursed his lips. Although he didn't say anything, his meaning was clear too.
"He also wants to stay."
"Listen, mommy has a cold and it can be contagious to you. Cough..." Sophia felt her throat itch and coughed a few times.
Ethan quickly handed her warm water and fed it to mommy.
"I and little sister will listen, mommy, don't worry."
Emma also quietly expressed obedience.
After settling the two little ones to sleep, Caroline looked at Sophia. She had already fallen asleep, but her eyebrows were tightly wrinkled. Caroline sat by the bed, reached out and felt her forehead, and noticed a slight fever.
In the silent night, one's heart couldn't help but feel fragile, especially when there was someone vulnerable by their side. Influenced by these emotions, Caroline, who was usually sunny and cheerful, rarely revealed a hint of sorrow.
"Sophia, I really envy you."
"Although you've had some unfortunate encounters, you still have three children by your side."
"And me, I have nothing."
A tear slid down Caroline's delicate cheek, and she wiped it away, a smile forming on her lips.
Why was she feeling sad again?
It was all in the past. There was no need to be upset. She would never encounter those people again in the future.
"Don't worry, I will definitely help you!"
Assured that Sophia was fine, Caroline went back to sleep.
The next day, Sophia still had a slight fever and her body was weak. She couldn't get up and it seemed impossible for her to go to work or the police station.
The two little ones refused to go to school and insisted on staying at home to take care of mommy.
Caroline helplessly said, "With me here, what are you worried about? If you don't go to kindergarten, what will Sam do on his own?"
This sentence struck a chord with them.
The two little ones could no longer find any reasons not to go to school.
Ethan, with a solemn face, asked, "Godmother, what did my mommy do last night? Did something happen?"
Caroline knew she couldn't hide it from these two little ones, and she had no intention of doing so.
Looking at two faces that resembled Gabriel so much, Caroline sighed inwardly.
"Somebody tampered with the medicine Sam was taking, and now that doctor is missing. Fortunately, you stopped Sam from taking the medicine in time. Otherwise, if Sam had taken it for a couple more days, the consequences would have been unimaginable."
The two little ones turned pale after hearing this.
Caroline comforted them a few times and personally sent them onto the school bus before returning to continue cooking porridge for Sophia.
The teacher noticed that Ethan and Emma were very quiet today. Usually, Emma would be busy chatting with Ethan. But today, even Emma was unusually silent.
Could it be that the two children had fought?
But even if they did, it didn't matter. They would definitely make up in a while.
Ethan wondered, his wicked dad was so smart, there was no way he didn't know about the strong side effects of Sam's medicine. Knowing this, he still gave Sam the medicine. Ethan secretly blamed his wicked dad in his heart.
But what if his wicked dad didn't know the medicine had been tampered with?
Then it would make sense.
But why would the doctor switch the medicine?
Ethan couldn't understand, and Emma suddenly spoke fiercely, "There must be a wicked woman bribing the doctor. That's how they portray it in TV dramas."
Ethan suddenly realized that watching so many TV dramas could be beneficial.
At least now it provided him with a clue.
If he helps Mommy find evidence of the wicked woman bribing the doctor, would it lead to legal consequences for her?
He just didn't know if that scoundrel of a father would help the wicked woman.
Regardless, if that scoundrel of a father helps the wicked woman, he will bring the scoundrel of a father to justice too!
Ethan said he would do it, but... there were no tools.
Sam brought three iPads every day, just to play games, and the teachers wouldn't say anything to him. After all, this child had a special situation and a strong background. The parents didn't say anything, so how could they have any objections?
During class, Ethan secretly used an iPad to search for evidence.
After class, Ethan hid in a corner of the classroom to search for evidence.
During lunch break, Ethan searched for evidence under his blanket.
Emma, on the other hand, asked Sam many questions, but Sam looked bewildered. He didn't know anything.
Alfred seemed to have disappeared into thin air. They turned the whole city upside down but couldn't find any trace of him.
With his disappearance, all the misdeeds Alfred had been secretly doing came to light.
Tiffany cried her heart out in Gabriel's arms, her voice hoarse, unable to speak fully, trembling all over.
