Chapter 463 A Core Shameful Memory
Gabriel saw Sophia standing still, looking dazed. A faint smile appeared on his lips as he strode over.
As he got closer, a wave of masculine pheromones hit her, and Sophia's heart started to race. She couldn't help but step back, wanting to distance herself from Gabriel. She was afraid she wouldn't be able to control herself and would be smitten by him again.
"Watch out!"
As she kept stepping back, Sophia reached the edge of the stairs. Gabriel quickly reached out, wrapped his arm around her slender waist, and pulled her into his embrace.
Startled, Sophia extended her hand, which landed right on his chest. Her palm touched his slightly cool skin, which was smooth and made her heart flutter.
Gabriel's bathrobe opened slightly from the movement.
"Thank you." Sophia was about to push him away, but her eyes unconsciously glanced inside his bathrobe, wanting to see his firm abs.
Gabriel's face changed dramatically, and he quickly tightened his bathrobe. He had been bedridden for a while and couldn't exercise, so his abs had disappeared.
Damn it, he wanted to use his charm to win her heart, but he almost let her see his now flabby belly!
This moment almost became a core shameful memory for him.
Sophia, feeling embarrassed, took two steps back, lowering her head. 'Oh my God, was I just mesmerized? No way, Gabriel is too dangerous!'
"It's getting late, I'm going back to my room to sleep," Sophia hurriedly said before fleeing.
In her eagerness to remove herself from the situation, her slippers almost flew off.
Gabriel sighed with relief, then his face turned serious.
He needed to resume his workouts quickly and get his body back in perfect shape!
On the anniversary of her parents' death, Sophia took a day off. Early that morning, Ruth asked if she had prepared everything for the memorial.
"I prepared everything yesterday," Sophia said.
Ruth nodded, looking slightly sad. "My legs aren't what they used to be, so I can't go to your parents' graves myself. Sophie, let Gabriel accompany you today."
"No need for that. I'll take the kids by myself."
Ruth said, "How can you manage three kids on your own? Gabriel was once your husband, and he didn't take good care of you back then. He should go to your parents' graves to apologize."
Sophia widened her eyes. 'It isn't that serious.'
At that moment, Gabriel came downstairs and walked over to them.
"Grandma is right. I should go to apologize, and it's not safe for you to take the three kids on your own."
Sophia had no choice but to let Gabriel accompany her and the three kids.
Given that Gabriel hadn't fully recovered, Sophia took on the role of the driver, with Gabriel in the passenger seat and the three kids in the back.
After driving for over an hour, they arrived at their destination. They had to park the car by the roadside and walk up.
From a distance, they saw two people standing there. Judging by the location, it seemed to be in front of her parents' tombstone.
Sophia frowned slightly, squinting to see who it was.
"It's the Browns." Gabriel recognized them. It was Logan and Ella.
Sophia's expression turned grim. On a day like this, she really didn't want to run into them.
She hadn't expected anyone from the Brown family to come to pay their respects.
"Sophie!" Ella had already seen her. She also saw Gabriel.
Ella's eyes widened, and she whispered to Logan, "I thought they were no longer on speaking terms. Why are they here together? And what's with those three kids?"
Ella realized that not only had Sophia survived, but she had also successfully given birth to three kids.
Besides the boy next to Gabriel, the other two kids were also alive.
Ella pinched Logan's arm hard to keep her emotions in check.
Logan's face twisted in pain. "Why are you pinching me? Let go!"
Ella snapped back to reality and quickly released him.
Seeing them approach, Ella hurriedly greeted them with a smile. "I thought you weren't coming, so we didn't wait for you."
Sophia rolled her eyes. "It's my parents' death anniversary. Why wouldn't I come?"
Ella was at a loss for words, and Logan glared at her before smiling and saying, "Don't mind Ella. She's just overly emotional."
"Yes, I get so sad thinking about your mother passing away so young," Ella said, putting on a sad expression.
Sophia couldn't be bothered with them.
"Are these your kids?" Ella asked, her gaze fallingon the three children.
She approached them lovingly.
"What are your names?"
Ethan, Emma, and Sam simultaneously hid behind Sophia, avoiding Ella's outstretched hand.
"Don't be afraid, I'm your mom's aunt."
Logan also approached them and said, "I'm your mom's uncle. Don't be scared, we're family."
The three kids then hid behind Gabriel.
Usually fearless, the three kids now acted so scared, constantly hiding behind their parents.
Knowing her kids well, Sophia smiled slightly, realizing they were doing it on purpose.
Logan and Ella, who wanted to use the kids to get closer to Gabriel, were now very embarrassed.
"Please step aside, I need to pay my respects to my parents," Sophia said coldly.
Logan and Ella couldn't stop her, so they did as she asked.
"Mr. Lancaster, long time no see." While Sophia was offering incense, Logan tried to strike up a conversation with Gabriel.
Gabriel remained expressionless, ignoring Logan's words.
Logan's face stiffened.
Clearly, Gabriel was younger than Logan and Ella, sohe and Sophia should have shown then the respect that they were due.But due to his status, the tables seemed to have turned.
Logan felt very uncomfortable.
Now that the Brown family had the Blackwood family's support, they would surely surpass the Lancaster family in the future.
When that time came, it would be his turn to put Gabriel in his place!
After Sophia and the kids finished paying their respects, Gabriel also stepped forward. Sophia didn't stop him, allowing him to pay his respects as well.
"Last year, when I came to pay my respects to my parents, I found that the tombstone had been vandalized." Sophia specifically mentioned this.
Now the tombstone was intact, and it even looked somewhat new.
Ella's heart skipped a beat, and she quickly explained, "The previous tombstone was scratched by some heartless person, making the words unreadable. So we had a new one made. At that time, we didn't know you were alive, so we didn't tell you."
Sophia gave Ella a probing look. "Why are the words different?"
The tombstones usually had the names of the descendants of the deceased. As the only descendant of the Kelly family, her name should have been on it.
However, her name was not there.
